Located on Mount Hood about an hour from Portland, Zigzag Mountain Farm is home to an organic garden, old homestead, house, yurts, and barn. 50 acres of open meadows and forest, bordering thousands of acres of national forest.
The farm is home to an organic garden, campfire circle, picnic area, a city bus with a campers' kitchen, outdoor seating area with BBQ, kids play structure and hiking trails.
The cabin on the property was built by the original homesteaders. Britta and Jim purchased the property in 2009. It had been vacant for a number of years. Giant slash piles scattered the land from previous logging.
The house and cabin were not livable and needed major renovations. In 2019, we purchased and brought in a city bus and converted it to a campers kitchen.
A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the early 1900's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail.

Pull up and let the vacation begin. The Lake Billy Chinook area has everything for the perfect camp trip. There is bike riding, boating, fishing, hiking, ATV riding, swimming, kayaking, lounging and enjoying nature.
When you arrive just park in your site. We have 30-amp service but no RV septic hookup. The site is gravel so you may need to level your rig.
We have a fantastic outdoor area complete with couch, loungers, BBQ and fire pit. The high desert offers some of the most amazing views of the Cascade Mountains with clear blue skies and some of the best star gazing around. Casa del Lago is a dark sky site. There is a fantastic view of Mount Jefferson from the couch and the sunsets are absolutely beautiful.
During the Summer we usually enjoy beautiful sunny days and cool comfortable nights. You can hang out down at the lake and find a spot on the beach to have a picnic. You can also bring your boat or rent one at the Cove Palisades Marina and enjoy water sports.

The second bedroom also has a queen bed and an annex bedroom with both a full size bed and a trundle below. There is also the upstairs loft space, which has two full sized beds each with their own trundle bed. In addition, there is a bonus space downstairs with it own full sized day bed that stays nice and cool in the summer, but needs a little pre-heating in the winter months to be comfortable for most folks. Our family’s favorite thing about the main floor bedrooms is their proximity to the sounds of the creek.

I found this cabin just looking on Google, I booked it for the next month and let me tell you the minute we got there felt like heaven. It is absolutely beautiful, hearing the river while sitting in the hot tub in the middle of the night, waking up to the birds chirping right outside the door. They had a stack of firewood, ready for the indoor fireplace, which we use the entire time we were there! We were able to bring all three of our dogs, who enjoyed every minute of it as well. I definitely plan to book this cabin again for the summer months! I would definitely recommend this to all of my family and friends!

The cabin was adorable, the bed was comfortable, the river a stone throw away. I don’t think it could get much better. I also really appreciate the fire pit design. I would definitely stay again! Be sure to bring your fishing poles.

We loved Camp Festivus as much in February as we did in August. Sitting on the deck listening to the sound of the creek was my favorite. Especially when I could then come inside and warm up in front of the fire.

Super cozy spot right on a beautiful creek — such a relaxing place to stay. Jeffrey was a great host and shared everything we needed for an easy trip. The kitchen was really well stocked, and the location is perfect for skiing at Meadows (less than 30 minutes away). Would definitely stay here again!

Sweet spot. I lucked into a sunny warm late December stay for NYE and it was exactly what I wanted: cozy and secluded. The cabin is a stone’s throw from a roaring creek, which is my absolute favorite sound to fall asleep to. The hike in is lovely but no joke! I wish I had packed a bit lighter, but live and learn. A small wagon would have been clutch. Also: excellent outhouse— tidy, well stocked, and zero smell (the exterior motion light was well appointed but a touch light inside would be nice for nighttime visits!) Nice touch: they already had a fire lit when I arrived and had exactly enough wood to keep me warm my entire stay. Overall, a memorable respite and I hope to return!

Weekend Trip to Casa Del lago 2 Lake Billy Chinook
Susan's place is phenomenal. It's a fantastic location right above Billy Chinook Lake. It has a sweet little cabin you can stay in and a tent site area complete with everything you could need for a weekend away. Her attention to detail is impeccable. Each area has outdoor lounging areas, propane fire pits, outdoor cooking areas complete with supplies, a lovely hot outdoor shower, and a cozy hot tub that's perfect for late night soaking and star gazing. She was the best host you could ask for, so friendly, helpful, and responsive.

It's was so beautiful and secluded. We only saw 1 other person while we were there. There were motion sensor lights leading to the cabin, a good size tent space that was included, the propane fire was lovely, and it was really great that wagons were provided to take things down to the cabin. Direct water access was amazing

3 nights at Mt. Hood Enchanted Forest
We loved our time here at the cabin! It's peaceful and feels secluded except for the highway noise (which is just what it is, can't help that!). I love that it is right on the river with its own private beach. There is a picnic table, grill, chairs and even a propane charcoal fireplace. Joshua the owner had thoughtful additions like a hose for dish washing, a recycling box and a can recycling spot right at he site. The walking trails are labeled and there is even a fire extinguisher at a central location between the cabin and camp spots. Its a beautiful location and you could tell it was thoughtfully planned as a camp spot. I loved having the wheel barrows to help us set up camp, too.
The only cons I would say would be the highway noise and the steep walk down to the sites. It's super nice to have Porta potties by the parking spots and it makes sense to have them there to routinely clean. But it is a walk to get there lol. But there are lights along the way which is very nice.
Over all a beautiful area and a relaxing trip was had! Ty, Joshua

This place is absolutely amazing. Gorgeous little creek that has small cascading waterfalls all the way down. Short, but steep hike up to the cabin.
Pack only the essentials.
You were just a short driveway from Great restaurants and a grocery store would definitely stay here again 10 out of 10 recommend.

Me, my partner, and our dog really enjoyed our stay at Cabin Del Courtyard. Susan is so communicative and thoughtful. We enjoyed all of the accommodations, especially the Nexgrill, hot tub (once it cooled down at night), and the fire pit. The hosts have really thought of everything that you need and prioritize their guests privacy. We would love to stay and visit the area again.
