 You are just minutes away (whether you are Hiking, Biking, Walking or riding your Horses to our quaint and lovely little village of Tumalo for outdoor music, food trucks, fire pits and country store.

We are a 12  min drive to downtown. And are centrally located to all in the surrounding area. You can float the river,  launching in Tumalo or the  Old Mill for river floating, walking and hiking. Trails are in the surrounding area.

Perfectly situated in the "Golden Triangle" of Bend, Redmond and Sisters.

The 11 acre Ranch is also surrounded by hundreds of acres of Wooded and Open-Range Fields, for which you’ll have access to most of the property to hike, bike, walk or Horse-Back (Horses not provided).... in addition to the beautiful fields just outside the property line where you can walk the trails to downtown Tumalo!

You will see resident deer, owls, falcons and coyotes. 

Come unplug on your slice of "privacy".....and enjoy the view of Pilot Butte in the distance!

We will happily share the best places to float, horse-back riding, hikes, bike trails to relax. Need something additional or forgot it? (floats, bike, ice, coffee creamer, s'mores, etc...just ask us!)

your sleeping bags and pillows! Sheets are provided but we ask you bring a good sleeping bag to ensure you’re warm.

Tom's Rest Canyon Retreat Center

TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need.  Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others.  Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years.  Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew.   This process, while overwhelming, has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials.  We continue to use our funds to promote healing in grief and other trials of life.

We would appreciate hearing from those that have anything to contribute in way of maintenance and housekeeping, services to provide those in need such as massage or counseling, or any other contributions you are led to give.  We are developing a list of volunteers to be called upon when someone in need is referred to us and will keep you informed as things develop.  

Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well.  These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times.  

Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will be ministering to those in need through your paid visits here and hopefully, gain some needed respite of your own.  We have taken every precaution for distancing and cleanliness with the ever changing Covid policies for your safety and concerns.   Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired.

My deepest thanks to all who have stood alongside through this journey and continue to do so.  May we collectively create TOM'S REST with Tom's intention and the passion he infused in us to carry it through to fulfillment.

Horny Hollow Hideaway

Once upon a time, two huge cracks in the earth filled with water. The jagged Crooked River to the east and Deschutes River to the west converge to the north forming a 10,000 acre triangle. Thousands of years later it became Crooked River Ranch. Couched between the canyon walls and two rivers, a small herd of buffalo was then brought in with a lead sire who later became known as “Lord Terrebonne."  But to hear more of the story and the real legend of Horny Hollow Trail, you’ll just have to come in person!Learn more about this land:Socially Distance you and your family while watching stunning sunrises and sunsets. Look out to the cliffs or walk in the sneeze-free-zone under the stone-face to your own private park-like setting. Breathe Nature's fresh air while hiking the property back side or practice yoga on the rocks! Take dinner up in the trails to a private setting with spool table and chairs. Or sit in the lower Adirondack chairs and lookout over the fields while enjoying the evening hour. Pull out the Papasan chairs and put them under the umbrella of huge juniper trees. Nature abounds, the wake up call of a rooster and the bedtime music of the cicadas. If you're lucky deer families trek thru backyard trails. Quails are in abundance and they have the right of way! Take a hike only minutes away to the BLM or 10 minute drive to the famous Steelhead Falls. Want a bigger challenge, Smith Rock is only a 20 minute drive; golfing is nearby.

Step out of your camper or look out your RV. This is your view to the backside of the property. Trails lead to the top of the Rockface.

For the hearty, once on top, there is even more hiking up to the second rock-face.

Heart of Sisters

In the city limits of Sisters. Just a few block walk to parks and downtown Sisters where tourists get trapped. Good for getting close spots for events like Sisters Folk Festival. Couple blocks from the Buckrun Trail head and 15 min drive to Three Creeks Lake. Firepit, Bbq, and grills available for use and can work out deals with the host for prepared meals. I do social media videos on the food I make and if you own a small business and would like to talk about your business on my live streams or make some quick promo videos then that is something we can discuss. We got to meet the owner of the property and see his ponds he is growing plants and food in and see his cooking skills with the smoker. 

10 Peak Paradise

Learn more about this land:Hey y'all! As much as we would love to share our space with everyone, we cannot accommodate tent camping since we don't offer an outhouse.  While here you'll get to watch the sunset behind the Cascades and stargaze into the night, at our high desert sanctuary. We have 2.25 acres surrounded by sage and rabbitbrush, bunchgrass and juniper trees. My partner and I live on the property along with our 3 dogs, 11 chickens and bee hives. In addition, you will most likely witness cottontails, jackrabbit and deer, as well as many bird species. At night, you may be lucky enough to be serenaded by local coyotes. We are located atop a peninsula straddled by the Deschutes and Crooked river canyons, with access to golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, climbing and kayaking just minutes away! We are also a short 20 minute drive to Smith Rock , 35 minutes to Lake Billy Chinook, and 45 minutes from Bend or Sisters. There is a small trading post in the canyon with gas, limited groceries and made to order sandwiches. For dining, there is a local tap house with food trucks, and a restaurant and bar on the golf course. We offer water, electric and wifi. If a fire ban is not in effect, we have a fire pit for your use. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine at our bistro table, listening to the birds chirp. Please respect our privacy and do not enter the fenced yard or paddock surrounding the barn unless given permission. We are happy to provide information and recommendations on the area, but if you would prefer zero contact we can accommodate that as well! When available, we can offer split firewood, beer and fresh eggs for sale!  Also, our home is located next to one neighbor and 185 acres of rangeland, on a paved road.  It can, at times feel totally alone, while other times, the local pickups and harley davidson's like to be heard.  We appreciate where we live and want to share that with you!
