We loved staying at Tranquility Base RV Camp! It was so peaceful with lots of deer in the area. We were in Site 2, which was perfect. Although there are 3 Sites total, we were the only ones while we were there. Russell and Karen are fantastic hosts! They were always quick to respond and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We hope to be back in the near future. 😊

Perfect Location With Everything

One of our most favorite Hipcamps. We've visited this place multiple times and enjoyed all the hookups, wifi, gorgeous setting, privacy, and helpful owners. Very friendly folks living in the area too. Minutes away from so many things we enjoyed: caves, hot springs, hikes, beaches, vintage arcades, fishing ... We can't wait to visit again.

Covered picnic table, full hook ups (including black tank disposal on site), cornhole boards. When the fire bans went into effect, Russell and Karen provided a full tank of propane and a gas firepit that we really enjoyed with our two young children. I also had the whole property to myself! Will definitely be staying again.

Gem of a site! We stayed in site 3 for 3 nights and thought it was great. As mentioned the camp is located on the edge of a quiet neighborhood, but is effectively surrounded by forest. This presents a sort of "best of both worlds" situation if you're looking for anything besides deep woods camping. Russell and Karen have obviously put a lot of work into making this a comfortable and convenient place to camp. Very dark and very quiet at night. And having on-site sewer so you can dump before you go is soooo convenient. You drive past the Thousand Trails on the way to the site, and it looks miserable comparatively lol. Don't hesitate to book this one, especially if you need a kicking off point for stuff around the area!

Excellent Stay

This was a perfect, thoughtfully designed getaway! The land is incredibly private and tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, making it feel like a true escape off the beaten path. We loved seeing the deer & squirrels on the property, and it gets exceptionally dark at night, which even with the trees the stars were beauitful. The amenities were exactly what we needed—just right without being overdone, didnt use the fire pit but it was a lovely addition! I would absolutely stay here again! Thabk you for a lovely stay!

Nice, comfortable site. We had some difficulty backing in, but it wasn’t impossible by any means. The other sites are close by, so not 100% privacy but thankfully our neighbors were respectful. Lots of wildlife. Accommodated our 34ft trailer and our friend’s car tent. The property next door had individuals using a saw, but seemed to only be during daytime hours and we had no trouble sleeping at night.

We actually stayed in site 3 accidentally, site 2 was what we booked. Luckily site 3 wasn’t booked so we didn’t have to switch after being set up. It was well marked but I just got confused after talking with Russell.
Our 25 ft TT barely fit with our slide out and awning but we did just fit. Lots of length just had to find space between trees for the awning and slide out. Loved the afternoon shade in site 3! It’s the best site there in my opinion.
Russell was a great host- very helpful and communicative. We’d definitely stay there again if needed.
The only downside was VERY loud music on the Saturday night. It was also loud on Friday but didn’t disrupt sleep. On Saturday it woke our toddler who couldn’t sleep for a while after that. It was over 10:15 ish. We think it maybe was from the nearby Thousand Trails but not sure.
We saw a frog, a snake, lots of deer, playful squirrels and the herd of elk passing behind our site was amazing. Their noises are fascinating and fun!
The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet. We biked around a ton with our 3-year-old pedaling his own bike, on the nearby roads and national forest land along the Deschutes River. It felt very safe and drivers were patient and attentive.

This place is great for this end of Central Oregon and its proximity to everything. The hosts have set up a perfect site with all the accommodations. We didn't have to worry about anything because it was all there at the site- including a Welcome Book! Super private, quiet, and clean. The hosts were very attentive and friendly even though they were remote. A perfect, secret, shaded little campground without the crowds and grief of a state park.

We stayed on site 3 and it was lovely. Our trailer blocked the other sites and the forest is right next to and behind. It only had water in power (perfect for us bc there is a dump on site). Great place to camp!

Quiet and Spread out nicely

This was a great spot for some privacy & quiet. Its in a residential neighborhood but feels a lot like you are in the woods. We had our 30' motor home in site #3, glad I picked that spot as it was the most private since our hang out area faced the woods & our motor home blocked the view of everything else. It was a bit tight for our RV & slide outs but we just fit perfectly between the trees. #3 had power & water only, but the additional dump station was great to be able to empty tanks before leaving.
Site #1 was probably the least appealing to me as it faced the building on the property so you're looking at the side of that the whole time...but #1 also had the largest parking space for your trailer and vehicles, as well as a large fire pit and table area. Site #2 is the center of the property & pretty open with a good amount of space to spread out. I tend to prefer as much privacy as possible so #3 was the best for that. I drew a map of the property to help, I wish every Hip Camp had this to help people get a feel for the layout when picking a camp space.
The whole lot was well maintained & clean. There is a building/house & a tent set up, assuming that's for the owners but no one was there while we camped. Good central location to many things in area also. I would recommend this site, the owners were very responsive & nice when we spoke on the phone. Every site has room to spread out which was nice, my sister stayed in her tent and had lots of room. Great spot!
