Weekend Trip to McKee Farm - Treehouses and Camping

Hosts were awesome! Between the two of us we had some confusion in the beginning but we worked out over worked brains and came to a quick resolve. Hosts were very responsive. Property was beautiful. I didn’t get a chance to explore it as I’d hoped due to a hiking strain before my arrival but I had an absolute amazing stay. So much that I ended up extending my stay a day. Loved the privacy and peace of mind it provided. The birds are very boisterous upon sunrise and it was such a joy to wake up to all the conversations taking place. It was well worth the 4hr drive back home!

I did a last minute reservation, so it was nice to be able to roll up and pick a spot to camp and set up right away without requiring host approval. Took me a minute to find the electric outlet. I didn’t love camping next to the construction they’re doing, but I also didn’t explore further because there were too many mosquitoes in the wooded area and I couldn’t tell where the rougher 4x4 path would start and I didn’t wanna get stuck. If I had given myself more time I’m sure I would’ve found a nicer spot.

6 nights at Fish Farm Camp

This was our 3rd year staying with Drew and I still can't get over just how beautiful it is out there. The sunsets are some of the most gorgeous I've seen it almost doesn't feel real some of the time. Its so peaceful and the fishing is good its the perfect place for same mental detox and on top of all that the lake is clear and cleaner than you'd belive. On top of all of the beauty drew is an awesome host and a really good dude he makes sure you've got everything you need. I highly recommend you book with him i promise you won't regret it.q

2 nights at Pleasant Valley Farm Camp

We enjoyed camping at this location. Sheila and her family were super nice and we did get cinnamon rolls as others recommended. They were so good! It’s really nice that there’s a portajohn/pavillion/surround shower. They’re about 20mins from Coshocton and 30mins from amish country.

We really enjoyed our time at Turkey Hollow. Our only two complaints are that there was a significant amount of broken glass in and around the fire ring at our site so we had to spend quite a bit of time cleaning that up so our dogs wouldn't step on it. Our other complaint was at 8 am on Sunday we were woken up by a ton of noise coming from the construction site on the property right next to the sites. Otherwise, the site was private enough and there was a clean outhouse to use. We'd recommend it.

We had a great stay at Turkey Hollow! The campsites tucked back in the woods felt fairly private and very comfortable. It was a peaceful spot overall, perfect for a weekend getaway. When we arrived, we did notice some broken glass—about a few bottles' worth—around the fire ring. Fortunately, we were able to clean it up easily without any issues. There was some construction happening across the large main camping field, which brought a bit of noise on Sunday morning. But we were out hiking most of the day, so it didn’t affect our experience too much. Our dogs especially enjoyed the trip—they loved saying hi to the cows and swimming in the pond! Overall, staying at Turkey Hollow was a great experience, and we’ll definitely keep it on our list for future adventures.

I love to go tent camping and unplug. It was a relaxing experience for me and my family. There was plenty of wood to make a fire. The site appeared to be very clean no trash just greenery. There is also a nice size pond to go fishing. I would recommend this place for tent campers. For those who want to unwind and relax.

Weekend Trip to Butterfly Valley at Zaleski

I enjoyed the semi-secluded location of this campsite but also felt a bit exposed to those that did pass by—walking on the rail trail or tearing up the gravel roads late at night… The grounds were spacious, clean and mostly level and the firewood provided ($5/bundle) burned nicely. No water, but I brought my own and electricity was a plus (once I realized the main breaker had not been turned on). Be aware that you will need to back in if your power cord is on the driver’s side of your camper, unless it’s small enough to turn around. Also, the grass was mowed the day after I arrived, while I was gone and my privacy tent was apparently in the way. It would have been nice to have that done prior to check-in time, but it was nice to have mowed grass at least. Overall it was a nice, peaceful stay, and a wonderful place to explore. The host was very helpful and accommodating and quick to respond.

Weekend Trip to Sycamore Retreat

My wife and I were looking last minute to find a spot for the night with our camper van to rest our weary bones. We came across this listing and instant booked it. It had rained cats and dogs the night before so it was a slight bit muddy but that wasn’t a problem for us. It’s a circular type gravel drive with a creek/small river at the very back. There a big clump of trees in the center of the drive circle.. I’m guessing they’re Sycamores.. lol.. and they actually block the entrance part of the driveway which makes it very private down by the water.. I spent most of my time there au naturel 😎… you can hear traffic from the road leading to the driveway and an occasional barking dog in the distance but very tolerable …it was pretty well kept .. an old white plastic lounger in the grass but otherwise pretty nice… if we lived closer you can bet we would book it tons !!!.. I should mention that the coordinates we got put us a 1/4 mile further up the road and on the opposite side of the road so take note of that.. there is a small sign when you finally find it .

This was a beautiful creekside clearing with a giant sycamore right in the middle. The area was pretty wet but we had a nice campfire right by the creek and enjoyed the privacy. Some garbage around, looks like it was all raked up and we picked up what we could. We thought it would be a perfect place for a gathering as there's plenty of room. Easy drive from the Hocking Hills area and peaceful.

3 nights at Butterfly Valley at Zaleski

I booked this spot for myself and a few family members and WOW WHAT A PLACE! The site is perfect and wild, yet well cared for. Paths were mowed so we could explore the land, the creek was full and I got my new paddle board out to play, there is a shaded area in the back where my sister set up her tent and we even used a tree swing hook to make a tree swing with a hammock. Even with some rain and wind, we had so much fun and will be back. This is a family favorite for sure.

I loved the sunset view site! We got hit by a storm and on the top of that hill you get hit hard by wind! The owner text and came to the site to check on us the next morning, they have extra wood that you can purchase also. Thank you for opening up your space, will be back!

The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 8 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels. McKee Farm is rich in memories and rich in history. It has been in the family for over 150 years and we were told that it was one of stopping points for the underground railroad. The 240 acre farm boasts a hidden cave, wide open fields, breathtaking forest land, and historic and rustic barns. Nestled at the edge of a wooded creek, Tullihas in the Trees treehouse boasts a beautiful sunset view with rolling hills. Tullihas combines comfort with the thrill of being immersed in nature. Built using recycled electric poles, Tullihas in the Trees has a deck perfect for hammocking, an interior dressed with windows so that guests can feel as if they are living amongst the trees, and two small lofts ideal for a restful night's sleep. Oxley in the Woods is our newest treehouse cabin. Nestled in the woods with a view of the sunset, the lovely A Frame is filled with lovely woodwork, vintage parquet flooring, and private wooded views. The deck is huge! We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy. The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone. In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river).
