The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen.
The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also.
The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities.
The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles.

This is a camping cabin, in the middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest. If you are into primitive camping and living, then this is the right place for you! My stay in the Sugar Shack at Fruitdale was magical and transformative. I loved everything about it. Aimee has created a beautiful, idyllic farm, gardens, and sanctuary, everything was just as described, and I couldn’t have had a better time. I especially loved being visited by Tangy, the cat, sitting by the pond, and exploring local hiking trails. The Farm Stand is great, too, and next time, I’ll get my produce there! Thank you for your hard work, hospitality, and careful stewardship of the land. Will definitely return and recommend to others.

David made us feel welcome and taken care of. I appreciated the fire already being built since we arrived close to dark. It’s clear they have taken a lot of care to create a unique space. The creek is perfect - somehow there were no mosquitos. Would definitely stay here again. We happened to be the only ones staying on the land that night so it felt very private, but I think it would still be a nice experience with multiple guests staying at the other cabins due to the landscaping making you feel “tucked”.

If you're looking to get away, unplugged, reset this is the place. Absolutely beautiful, tucked away in a holler. First thing we all noticed was the thought the host put into our stay. It was put together in a way even the kids wanted to leave it the way we found it. When they say all you need is your favorite pillow or blanket, they mean it. The host was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Very respectful as far as privacy. Also, more than willing to offer assistance if asked. Sitting next to the fire, listening to the creek flowing, the fireflies, the sounds of the whippoorwill, it all made for a whimsical stay. One which we will plan again.

The dome is beautiful and comfortable. We really enjoyed ourselves and loved exploring the area. Close proximity to state parks for fishing, hiking and kayaking. There is a gorgeous outdoor shower (not in service during our stay ) Hopefully it will be up and running soon, looks like a lovely experience. The host is very accommodating and responsive. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Woody Acres
Woody Acres truly is a magical place. There is so much to do, and even though we faced lots of rain while we were there, time seemed to not exist while we were with our friends and Austin and Kate under the shelter that Austin built with the camper. We also enjoyed a fun plant walk with Austin and a dip in the pond!
It's always very hard for us to leave because we love it there so much. The land is beautiful. The hospitality is truly unmatched. We can't wait to be back. 💗

2 nights at Fruitdale Farm
The Cattail Cabin was fantastic! The pond, trails, and wildlife were so peaceful, and the overall experience was restorative. Aimee does an amazing job with everything, and each cabin has its own unique character. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I'll definitely be coming back!

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm
I love Fruitdale Farm. The Cattail Cabin was just what we needed for a quick (rainy) weekend trip. We stayed warm and dry and spent a lot of time sitting on the porch watching the red-winged blackbird fledglings in the cattails and their parents coming and going. We fell asleep to the sound of peepers and awoke to the chatter of birds.

We rented the whole place this past weekend and had an absolute blast!! The campers were beautifully maintained. We could not have asked for a better trip. If you are thinking about booking this place... do it!

Cozy and secluded little cabin was a perfect stay for the night while passing through. Heard owls at night and woke up to bird song in the morning. The provided generator was a nice touch, though we didn’t end up using it.

After studying Norse Mythology, my 4th graders had a culminating overnight at this Viking Longhall. It was exactly the experience I was hoping for! David was very accommodating and hospitable. They loved the archery, creek swing, fire pit and the ambiance of the longhouse and yurt!
