We do not allow late check ins. We meet and greet all guests.the historic pond was originally much smaller. We have records that date back to our 6th Great-Grandfather, Joab Fountain, who received a royal grant from the crown in 1773 for the property and then just a grist mill, blacksmith shop and old general store. The property was passed down through the Fountain family until the late 1910's. Originally a creek dammed up for the purpose of the mill it was later dug out in the late 1940's by Lee Baysden. The property also features 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and farmed fields, a total of 84 acres. Divided by Duplin and Onslow County line making it very unique! Chinquapin, NC The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam. In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond Our camp office/store is opened most weekends or by check-in requests and fishing passes available 7 days a week online from sunrise-dark. Our lake features fishing for Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Bowfin, varieties of Panfish, and more. Check out our Facebook page (JCO Campground at Lee Baysden Pond) for all the latest news and catches! We have tagged bass that have been released back into the lake. I have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the weather chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We have different sites, please read each description or message me before you book a stay. All the sites have an 8pm latest check in unless you've stayed with us before. With the cold snap we have been experiencing the RV water source will freeze up over night. Please message me before booking the RV. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

Love this site. Secluded enough to be private. Host was fantastic. We had a great time here. Can't wait to come back in the winter. Definitely would recommend. Just be weary if you are using hammocks. Can be slightly difficult to set up a couple hammocks that would not be in the direct woods. We set ours up perfectly fine by the river but space is slightly limited on hammocks. This site has a lot of space for a tent or camper.

Contessa and her husband were very friendly and helpful. The area was very peaceful and an otter and a nutria came swimming by our site! The bathroom was very clean and well stocked.

Had a wonderful time staying at the site by the creek. Huge site. Big sky views. Good star gazing. Nice and quiet while there. Went for a quick paddle on the creek a few times when the tide was up. Woke up early to catch beautiful sunrises over the nearby pond. Took a few walks around the property. Want to come again.

This spot was something me and my dog Mia needed. She is big swimmer and the fact there was no other campers makes me very comfortable. We enjoyed very much. I would love if this spot have plugs for other campers, because I am planning to buy my own camper and spend more time outside. I am person who will not go out once gets dark,so bathroom would be nice to have inside the camper. The owners were very responsive and they immediately fixed one issue I had there. WiFi worked perfectly. I would turn the camper to have the door faced to the pond and maybe also put closer to the pond :-) Other than that we have good time and would love to come back with my own camper or using the owners one.

My husband and I loved our stay at canter lakes! We loved waking up and drinking coffee overlooking the water and taking walks to go look at the horses. The property was clean and well maintained. The bathroom and shower were also very clean and a great feature to have while camping. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to have a cute camping getaway.

This has been a great getaway place for me to think and reflect. Much needed for a semi retired, professional, and the hosts Liz and Tom were most gracious. I grew up on a farm and this is more adventurous than mine from my childhood because they didn’t make me work. I got to watch. I recommend this place highly.

My boyfriend and I brought our NuCamp Barefoot travel trailer out camping for the first time here and it was absolutely beautiful! It was super peaceful and a nice large area with everything you need! We’re definitely going to come back with friends very soon!

We stayed one night driving to Florida. The hosts were very nice people. Liz brought us some homemade apple jam and goat cheese with crackers. Yum! The place we camped at was next to the well house. It had electricity and water. The toilet was in the barn not far from our campsite. Good WiFi. The horses were beautiful. Thanks for the stay.

Although we didnt use all your amenities there were many. The showers were great, well maintained. Our site was level which means a lot when camping. The surroundings were great, there was a lot to do.
