Weekend Trip to Lakeside Retreat

We loved camping on Neil's land! The private lake had great fishing and there was plenty of space for our dogs to run around. It was a beautiful spot and we will definitely come back!

Me and my pup spent a much needed evening at the lake side retreat. The hosts were very helpful leading up to the trip. The spot is well kept with lots of wildflowers and we really enjoyed our evening on the lake. We had quite a bit of rain for our trip so I was happy I brought some extra shelter from the weather. We will definitely be back!

I loved camping on Stevens land. The views were spectacular and loved the open land so that our dogs could run free! This was my second time at his place and will definitely be camping there again. Steven is an amazing host!

Steven’s land is absolutely wonderful! One peaceful and quiet RV spot with full hookups all to yourself with amazing views! It was easy to maneuver our 35’ travel trailer into the level gravel spot, and there was plenty of space for our fur babies to run and play in a big open field. We have stayed here twice and will definitely be back again.

We had a great stay at the Barnhill Mountain campsite! The place was peaceful and perfect for a little getaway. One of our favorite parts was making s’mores by the fire—everything we needed was included in the package, which was a really nice touch. The host was super communicative and helpful from the moment we booked. Definitely recommend!

Weekend Trip to Raven Rock

The photos do not do this place justice. I felt like I was in Narnia! Jeffrey was absolutely five star and went above and beyond to make us comfortable during our stay. He is so kind and truly a wonderful human, and I am so happy to have met him. The site is clean with a beautiful view of a mountain stream fed pond. You are surrounded by water everywhere with babbling brooks and waterfalls singing you to sleep at night. I honestly cannot wait to go back.

Easy for large rig to navigate Gorgeous view It was our first trip in our new Schoolie rig, and we had some epic travel aggravations along the way. This Hipcamp site was the one bright spot in all that. 😆 I’d like to visit again when we can use it for a base camp for hiking or kayaking. This time it’s just been us regrouping to get on the road again

We had an incredible time staying at Barnhill Mountain top campsite! The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the peaceful surroundings made for a perfect getaway. Edwin was a fantastic host—welcoming, helpful, and ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The site was well-maintained, and we loved watching the sunrise and sunset from such a beautiful spot. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a serene and scenic escape. Great place! Would recommend this place to anyone with dogs. Mine went in and out of the river all weekend, not worried about other people or them wandering too far. He was kind and helped find local hikes, brought fresh apples and cabbage. Will be back 100%

This place was awesome! Nice and private little spot on a big pond that offered a relaxing vibe. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here with me, my friend, and my dog. If you're a more prepared camper than I, bring some sort of shade canopy as the main camping area doesn't have much shading at all when the sun is highest and hottest (I also forgot my sunscreen lol). Neil was an excellent host and communicated well how to get there and what to expect and I definitely recommend Lakeside Retreat if you're looking for a weekend away to just chill and maybe do a little fishing! 😎

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Never stop dreaming! Hope to see you soon, cheers! Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek. In the fall and winter enjoy 360 degree views and in the summer enjoy the shade and cool breeze while relaxing & snacking on wild wine berries and black raspberries. What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain. Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker. If & when you decide to explore the area, be sure to checkout Hickory Nut Gap farm just 7.9 miles away & Whistle Hop Brewery 7.7 miles away. Turgua brewery just down on Cane Creek road is only 6.2 miles from camp. Cane Creek Valley Farm as well as the Cane Creek Community swimming pool is also at the base of camp just in case the kids need a dip of ice cream or a dip in the pool. Justus Apple Orchard is only 10 miles down the mountain towards Hendersonville. We love taking our kids there. We are only 15 miles from downtown Asheville & Hendersonville, and 22 miles from Lake Lure. This RV site is on our property where we first lived in a mobile home. We love camping and thought what a great place for a quite retreat. So we made the site into a full hook up RV camp site. Beautiful location with a view of Table Rock located in the Historic Oolenoy Valley. Our property is located in Northern Pickens Co. of South Carolina. Plenty of trails, boating, biking in the area or just sit under your awning and enjoy the wildlife. Important please read! There is not evening shade in July and August, However, there are shady spots very close to the camp site that you can enjoy. Where your camper sits the Sun goes down at the front of the camper. It is typically not an issue until mid-July and August. If you need additional details, please contact me. There are two homes near the camp site. The one behind the site is our home. Just me and my wife, currently no pets. The other home is a small white farmhouse that I currently rent to close friends. Chris and his wife and two well behaved kids. The kind of neighbors' people dream of! In five years of renting this site I have only had one couple that felt uncomfortable with the homes on our driveway. They chose not to stay, and I refunded them. It is very safe here and secluded from the main road. Look at all of the pictures to make sure this is the spot for you. Thanks Sincerely SteveG

Wildcat Outpost

Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.
