2 nights at At the Ridge Camp-Riverside Escapes

This cute little cabin was right on the river, perfect spot for me and my dogs to set up camp For a few days. Short drive to some of the coolest waterfalls in NC, or just enjoy the river right in front of you. I was pleasantly surprised by thr the mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the cabin as well as heat and ac for all your needs. Hosts were very friendly and helpful

I've been camping for all 40 of my years on this planet and this was the best camping experience I've ever had. I'm usually the primative camping type but my GF along our dog and I were on a road trip from Minnesota and I wanted to find the best campsite with the best view of the mountains while we were down there, despite not having any of our gear with us. I'm absolutely convinced that we found it. Everything was easy to find when we showed up and we had the whole place to ourselves since it was a Monday into Tuesday. When we arrived our tent was unlocked and ready for us, and the firewood already stacked next to the pit. We literally got out of the car and went straight to the hammocks and enjoyed the view. I specifically booked the only clear-sky night of the week and was rewarded with one of the top 3 sunsets I've ever seen. Absolutely phenomenal. William eventually came to check on us and make sure we found anything, what a friendly guy!! We BS'd for a little bit while he played with our dog and I loved every second of it. It felt like such a privilege to be in such a beautiful place with an amazing host. William, we can't thank you enough! Definitely hope to make it back one day. My only regret is only staying for a single night. What an absolute gem.

The campsite “Buckeye Bank” was absolutely gorgeous. The grounds were very well kept, and the cleanliness of the porta potties was a very nice added bonus. The site was secluded, but easy to find. Communication with the host was quick and extremely helpful. Blair was a huge help in helping me pick the appropriate size campsite for our group and vehicles. I would love to camp here again and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Linville area.

Love the site! We decided to go last minute and it was super easy and quick to reserve and pay. The indications on how to get there easy to follow. The site was clean and spacious. Just far enough from the next site to have privacy. Our dog loved to play in the creek (us too, we even did a cold “plunge” sitting with water to our armpits). Porta Potty were super clean. Definately recommand!

We loved our experience at Blair’s campground! Campsites weren’t super close to each other which was nice, it made us feel like we were alone in the woods. We stayed in the brand new safari tent, and it was very comfortable. Nice handmade furniture and the mattress that was very comfortable. The deck/porch was the star of the show, that’s where we hang out most of the time. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Fantastic site at a fantastic campground. Blair has thoughtfully carved out some wonderful sites on his property. Very private and isolated from each other! Our site was right on the creek. There was clearly some storm damage but things are cleaned up and in lovely shape. We had a teardrop so didn't use the tent pads but I couldn't help remarking about how great they were! Very level! Getting across the creek was fine but will say the photo doesn't portray the incline into/up out of the creek. It's a decent grade you want to be prepared for. We did it pulling a teardrop so it's doable! Communication was great. We'll be back in the fall!

The farm was such a great place to stay! Our daughter loved seeing the animals. This was our first Hipcamp experience and were very pleased! We will definitely come back!

Such a beautiful property and so well-designed! Even better than the photos convey. Each yurt, along with the cabin, offers its own gorgeous, unique view and level of separation from other sites. The tent sites probably offer the most privacy if that’s what you’re after. The vista from the picnic/BBQ area is also so beautiful and peaceful. The amount of work the owners have put into their campground is very evident, and I’m grateful they share it with the public. Less than a half hour to South Mountains state park which has begun its phased re-opening post-Helene (hooray!!). Definitely hope to return someday soon!

Together they manage a botanically interesting hobby hill farm and are happy to host travelers and seekers in their cabins. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months of saturdays for less than $5k. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water" Orchard House was built entirely by James from the block up to the roof, averaging 1 hour/day for 3 years or 1,000 hours. Some of the Hilltop photos are a bit dated, we have a more private outhouse behind the cabin, and have made a few improvements here and there. Reach out anytime for any reason. Nearly every day there is a small challenge, nothing comes easy, but all the coziness and comfort is there. The water is supplied by a spring above the mill. Electricity is generated by solar technology and a generator. All refrigeration and cooking appliances are propane; and so is the basic heat (propane again) - and a very old Jotul wood stove will do the rest. I sleep a lot on the day bed in the living room so the Sawmill can be comfortably rented for up to 4 guests. The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.
