About the property
You will have our entire 14 acre property to yourself which features some amazing mountain views and is adjacent to state lands for exploration.
To access the site you will drive approx. 15 minutes up a gravel road. Overall we are located about ~30 minutes from I-40 and about 25 min to Marion & Morganton, NC.
For recreation you can access South Mountains Gamelands which is adjacent to the property. You can also drive to South Mountains State Park which is only 15 minutes away. Lake James State Park is 35 minutes away and offers great recreation potent entail as well as Linville Gorge which is 45-60 minutes away.
About the listing
We offer two connected 8x16' tiers with center posts for hanging a tarp or setting up tents. You can see in our photos how a tent would fit on the platforms, there is plenty of space and truly amazing views right from your tent door. The site features a fire pit and an outhouse.

My property consists of a ridge running east to west with the access road running along the south border. the land slopes up to the ridge for about 300 feet, and then down to the river for about 800 feet. The south side of the ridge has a small pond close to the road. The rest is pasture, and an orchard and small vineyard. The north side of the ridge is old growth timber, and shady and cool. The two cabins are along the river. One is perched on a ridge over looking the river and the other is right on the river. The swimming hole is 30 feet from the lower cabin. There is room for a couple campsites along the river also. The south side of the ridge was a cotton farm decades ago, but was covered in timber when I bought it 12 years ago. The north side has been in timber for the known history of the property.

Your campsite includes a wooden tent platform (~12’ x 24’) with steps, a fire pit and grilling area, four chairs, a round dining table, a water hose, and four electrical outlets. A newly built outhouse is just steps away.

Cell service is a little sketchy here but we do offer a wifi hot spot for you to stay connected to outside world and a place to charge your phone.
If you a motorcyclist you might have come to enjoy the motorcycle mecca of our area. One of the favorite and well known rides is “The Diamondback on NC 226A, starting in Marion NC. This ride is only 22 miles from our camp. There is also The Blue Ridge Parkway and Lake James Loop that includes “The Devil’s Staircase. Make The Earth Center Camp your base. We do offer long term parking for those who have trailered their bikes here.
The Earth Center offers guest the opportunity to reserved the entire ground for their private event. Go to "Earth Center Campground and Retreat" to reserved for your group

1.For your safety our gates are kept locked. Our business hours are 8am to 10pm. No check-ins before 8am or departures after 10pm. During your stay with us ,entries and exits must be coordinated with the office so we can open the gate for you. Tellurian’s scenic location offers stunning vista views of the surrounding countryside, sprawling views of the South Mountain and Cherry Mountain ranges, as well as long range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views.
Naming our campground proved to be one of the most challenging tasks throughout the process of developing it. After many ideas and brainstorming sessions as a family, we decided to go with Tellurian. We know it’s a bit different; that’s what we like about it. We think our place stands out and, after visiting Tellurian, we think you’ll agree it does too.

We enjoyed camping on Zoe and April’s land so much! A groups of 3 of us stayed for 2 nights while attending a class nearby. Our campsite was the grove and it was so tranquil with the sound of the creek, crickets, and many whippoorwills. There was plenty of room for a few tents and a fire pit/grate for cooking and hanging out. We loved exploring the woods area and the pond. Also really nice to have the bathhouse and shed a short walk away. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be back again!

I like how the campground is constantly improving and offers a variety of sites-you can tent camp, car, or stay in a dome. There is a small playground which my kids loved and the overlook was a nice area to hang out. I would definitely come back here again.

The host Blair was amazing! I had a couple one off questions and Blair was quick to respond. The sites were pretty flat and spacious on the 2 wheel drive side. The property and creek were well maintained, while each site's boundries had foliage to create a sense of privacy. The new bathhouse was superior, and I hope other campers can help respect them and keep them as beautiful as they are now. Looking forward to coming back in the fall.

It's a beautiful Campground lovely sights with private access to the creek. If you have little kids especially and want them to explore and be safe couldn't recommend it more . The new bath house is going in are way too nice for camp area like this with brand new showers sinks and toilets in an air conditioned building. I wouldn't hesitate to get a reservation here and try it out.

We loved this campsite and the whole campground. It was great for our family of four and two doggos. Our friends stayed in a canvas tent next to ours and it was perfect. The stream was divine. The outhouse was very clean and the shower rooms were great.

We had a blast with our family and friends at Tanglwood safari tents! We were impressed with how well maintained and clean everything is. Beds were also more comfortable than we expected for a tent. The property is huge with different lodging options while still making every space feel secluded. Loved the creek access and location to beautiful hikes/waterfalls as well as stores when need be. Host provided quick and accommodating communication with messages as well!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Christian was an awesome host and easily the coolest guy we’ve ever met lol. We brought paddle boards and kayaks to enjoy Lake James, which was only a 4 minute drive from the campsite. We took advantage of everything the campsite had to offer- fire pit, picnic table, axe throwing, zip line, disc golf baskets, and river access. The river was really nice, several deep pockets for swimming. My husband caught some blue gill, bream, and small bass. We intend to return one day as we had a great time.

We had an awesome weekend at the Beaver Den site. It was very shaded with lots of privacy and very well maintained. The campground staff were also very accommodating and quick to help when we needed it. The bathhouse was very clean and well maintained which made our trip even better. Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills
We had a lot of fun! I’m not a camper but my boyfriend is so I booked a camping trip that felt like the best of both worlds for his birthday! It was as close to real camping with a touch of glamping as you can get! I do wish the string lights were still up at the campsite! We were in MTG 5 and it was nice and secluded since our family also rented the little cabin next to us! Would highly recommend visiting :) we will be returning for a few days soon since we know we like it! Host is also great and has great communication!

Our site was lovely as it was right alongside the creek. It was quiet and a good size space. Bonus: we were directly across from the new bath house which was so beautiful. Blair was super responsive to any questions. My husband and I had a great time. We will definitely go again. Thank you Blair.
