I began management of the farm in 1980 and remodeled an old farmhouse into a guest house for a family or for couples to find an escape from the chaos of city life and the modern world generally. The house sits on a gated, 10 acre wildlife preserve, beside a 3 acre pond, which adjoins our 100 acres of fields and forest. Our entire farm is in a conservation easement so it can never be developed, and we are one of the few private properties on the NC Wildlife Resources Commission "Birding Trail"; we have documented over 100 species of birds here in different seasons of the year. Our pond, private for guest house users, offers good fishing and we provide a boat. We also have over 2 miles of walking trails through our woodland and along the pond. Although we permit no outdoor fires, we do have a fireplace in the house and furnish free, seasoned firewood. We grow organic vegetables, alliums, and fresh herbs, along with a great many flowers to attract pollinators. Because some of our guests are allergic to pet dander, and because pets often frighten the wildlife away, we do not accept any pets here, nor do we own any ourselves. Learn more about this land: We offer a two bedroom private guest house with central heat and air, situated in a 10 acre, gated wildlife preserve which adjoins our 100 acre farm and which overlooks a private fishing pond (with boat). We promise no TV, radio, newspaper, telephone or internet connection, but do have a small library in the house. For the convenience of the ladies, the kitchen has no stove but does have a large, sheltered smoker/grill on a covered patio beside the kitchen, a full power microwave, and all other kitchen amenities, including a French press with a bean grinder and electric kettle; we also provide our own blend of fresh roasted coffee beans as well as tea, herb tea, chocolate and popcorn. The bathroom has a large claw footed tub and we provide bath salts and fresh organic herbs for the bath. There is a working fireplace and we provide seasoned hardwood for it. Guests may enjoy our farm which offers about two miles of woodland trails and abundant wildlife and birds but no domestic animals. Excellent spot away from the city but not to far out of the way. Right on the water side made for excellent mornings sitting around the fire enjoying coffee and enjoying the view. The host was exceptional with everything from first meet and great to departure. If you want a quite relaxing weekend away I would highly recommend this spot.

We stayed at the screen house for one night and wish we could have stayed another night. The screen house itself was top notch… secluded yet close to the main area, clean, well maintained, and cozy. Jim and Becky did a great job of adding conveniences to the experience with heated beds, battery for charging, lighting, cooler with ice, bathhouse, cooking area with seating, and more. There are a few different options for accommodations including glamping tent, screen houses, and a cute little cabin with a loft. This is a great place for a group. They can cook together and enjoy the community space, very cozy. We will be back.

Nice little pond with some fish. Tossed my line in and caught something in 5 minutes. Great for little kids. Pond was glass in the morning, it felt like I was hours away in the middle of nowhere.

Weekend Trip to Honah Lee Farms

Mike was great checking us in and showing us around. Spot was perfect for tents, 2 small and 1 large. Wooded area on a “peninsula” with the creek wrapping around you. Was just Dad, his daughters and their dogs and we all had a great time. Especially the dogs in the creek. Outhouse is easy and quick to get to, kids could go in their own without worry. Saw some vehicles at another spot up from us, but never saw the campers or heard them. Great spot.

3 nights at Rural Chapel Hill Forestry Stay

Bekah's camping site was beautiful, my tent was in a circle of trees, pines and hardwoods. The gentle breezes set the stage for a truly relaxing couple of days. Lots of birds to listen to, not buggy, in beautiful meadow. I would definitely stay again. Bekah was warm and friendly, letting me know where to find local services and that she was home and nearby if I had any questions. Just lovely.

Weekend Trip to The Homestead At Little Creek

I loved tent camping on Megan’s homestead! Even though it rained the whole night, my pup and I felt very warm and safe tucked in their wooded trees. So thankful for access to an indoor sink and toilet! The farm animals are adorable and fun, and the whole family was very welcoming and hospitable! ☀️ Americas finest!
