Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

We carved our 43 acre horse farm out of wild swampy land in 2007 and finished the barndeminium in 2008. We started with Hipcamp 6 years ago and enjoy meeting new people. My husband is retired from the Air Force and works full time doing the chores. I retired May 2024 from being a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Womack Army Medical Center. I have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the weather chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We have different sites, please read each description or message me before you book a stay. All the sites have an 8pm latest check in unless you've stayed with us before. With the cold snap we have been experiencing the RV water source will freeze up over night. Please message me before booking the RV. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

The land was once our 6th Great Grandfather's and how Fountaintown was formed. The property consists of 84+ acres: 22-acre lake, swamps, creeks, and farmland. We are in a farming community. We take pride in stewardship of the land and waters to keep its natural beauty and help with keeping the balance of the ecosystem. Many animals call it home! (Heron, Ducks, Osprey, Turkey, deer, beaver, fish, and many other wildlife) We have a lake Cat named Tail. She may greet you! The Ponds are stocked with Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and more. Catch and release. NC fishing license required.
JCO currently has 9 RV/Travel Trailer sites on main side that wrap around the lake. A Floating cabin and an A-frame Glamping cabin on main side. Across the lake we have 12 primitive tent sites that spread-out around the property. Views of lake and sunset, little pond, swamp and creek views. The lake is a Fishing lake. Kayaks and trolling boats are welcome. No gas motors. Upon booking we can send a local tourism guide for the area. We are only 50 minutes from the beach and coastal towns. Pet Friendly campsites. There is plenty of backyard space to toss a football or play cornhole.

We have three young children (Ages 4, 6, and 8) that you may see outside or hear upstairs walking around. They are typically up by 7 am and in bed by 8 pm but are gone most of the day at school (unless it’s summer) and play outside often. We also have one black cat named Smokey who is very friendly and loves to socialize. If you’re not a fan of kids or pets then this may not be the space for you.
Nightly rates vary based on specific dates. Weekends are priced higher. Discounts are automatically available closer to the arrival date.
Single-night stays are automatically made available when those are the only remaining nights. Otherwise, a two-night minimum is required.

We currently have five covered wagons and one bath house. The property offers a community stone patio, firepit, grilling area, and large expansive lawn. The upper Cape Fear River flows below the property and Adirondack chairs and a few hammocks are conveniently located around the wagons and entire property for relaxation and pretty views!
The Cozy Heron property shares borders a very popular seasonal river outfitter (Cape Fear River Adventures in Lillington, NC). Cape Fear River Adventures offers paddling classes, summer day camp, canoe/kayak/SUP rentals, and river tubing.
Just a quick 2 minute walk from your covered wagon will also bring you to an on-site restaurant and bar: The Riverside Restaurant & Bar. The Riverside has a full bar, delicious, stone-fired pizza, smashed burgers, fresh salads and sandwiches, and more! They may also have live music performances throughout the spring and summer months.
Raven Rock State Park is just a 15 minute drive away. Surrounding towns like Fuquay-Varina, Angier, and Holly Springs offer more shops and restaurants if Lillington doesn't have enough for you! Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. JCO currently has 9 RV/Travel Trailer sites on main side that wrap around the lake. A Floating cabin and an A-frame Glamping cabin on main side. We have three young children (Ages 4, 6, and 8) that you may see outside or hear upstairs walking around. They are typically up by 7 am and in bed by 8 pm but are gone most of the day at school (unless it’s summer) and play outside often. We also have one black cat named Smokey who is very friendly and loves to socialize. If you’re not a fan of kids or pets then this may not be the space for you.
Nightly rates vary based on specific dates. Weekends are priced higher. Discounts are automatically available closer to the arrival date.
Single-night stays are automatically made available when those are the only remaining nights. Otherwise, a two-night minimum is required.

We had such a wonderful weekend at this campsite! I booked the group site for my family, and although I camp often, this was our first time camping in the winter and with a group and it did not disappoint. The site was nice and spacious, perfect for everyone to spread out and still feel connected. It had snowed the weekend before, and Nick was thoughtful enough to move us to a different site that wasn’t as wet. That small gesture made a big difference and showed how much he cares about his guests having a great experience. Nick was a great host overall friendly and helpful. We even lucked up and scored some Girl Scout cookies from his granddaughter! And the unlimited free firewood was definitely a huge plus, especially for a winter camping trip. We made some great family memories and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

The hosts were extremely responsive, helpful and accommodating. We tried to get ahead but ended up stuck through the snow storm. In a panic I made the wrong reservation but without hesitation there was someone on the phone to ensure we safely arrived in the proper slip. Clean restrooms, friendly staff, laundry facilities, accessible trash area and even had a propane filling station. Walmart close by and near a plethora of places to eat…when not snowed in. Definitely recommend. Only advise: to consider not showering while laundry is in use - only due to low pressure and lack of control to fire and ice temperatures 😅 **this is Not a complaint, just to be aware**

Large, private lots were scattered throughout the wooded area. Very well landscaped and looking forward to returning when everything is in bloom. Wonderful stay from pre-checkin to checkin to checkout! I wanted a quite relaxing but comfy stay surrounded by nature w a few creature comforts and the Cabin gave me just that. The view from the cabin is so serene. I enjoyed exploring the campgrounds w my pup and meeting some of the fellow campers. The Cabin is clean, well appointed, comfy bed w a splash of holiday cheer (based on when I stayed). Contessa is an outstanding host! I stayed on the grounds for my entire wkend stay but will checkout local attractions Contessa recommended during a future stay.
JCO is a special place that’s easy to get to and not easy to forget; I’ll be back to get my overlanding on w my partner (he’s a frequent camper here). The JCO hype is legit!

I brought my RV out to Michael’s place and had an incredible stay. The property is spotless—honestly looks and feels brand new and the peace and quiet out there is exactly what I needed. Michael was an awesome host, quick to respond, helpful, and genuinely welcoming.
The space is open, relaxing, and very well taken care of. I’ll definitely be coming back without a doubt. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a clean, quiet, and comfortable getaway.
