My farm had been untouched for years and only used as hay farming. It is rolling hills known by the locals as "Butterfly Hill" Which the farm is home to many species of butterflies in the summer. I know the area was inhabited by native Americans many decades ago. I have found a few broken arrow heads over the years. The farm is beautiful and quiet. I have a beautiful hiking trail around the property for you to take your fur babies on. The cabin is right on a beautiful stream too. There are several state parks nearby and river tubing within 10 -30 minutes. Hot showers and potable water just a few feet away.

The Firefly is nestled between trees, on a loud, rushing creek, on a five acre property that is mostly cleared and on a hard surface dead end rd, a few miles from Hillsville, Va. If you're looking for a polished campground with matching patio furniture... keep driving. If you're looking for a place that feeds your soul... welcome home! Hippie Hollow completely stole our hearts. The second we pulled in, it felt less like checking into a campground and more like accidentally finding the coolest family reunion you've never been invited to... except everyone immediately invites you anyway. Sly is an absolute legend! The kind of human who makes you feel like you've been friends for years within five minutes. You can tell this place isn't just a business......it's his heart, and it shows in every little detail. My daughter immediately declared herself queen of the campground, adopted the resident cat, floated the creek like she owned it, lived in the hammocks with her brother, and somehow turned a towel into high fashion. I spent my days drinking wine in the outdoor kitchen, smiling like an idiot, and wondering why real life can't always feel this peaceful... The vintage camper is ridiculously charming, the outdoor kitchen has everything you need, the creek is perfect for cooling off, the stage and gathering area make you want to stay for "just one more night," and somehow everyone leaves feeling like old friends. The campground is also just minutes from downtown Floyd, which made exploring super easy. This isn't one of those places where you're counting down until checkout. This was a great place! It was so peaceful and felt very private. Our dog had a great time running around in the woods (though we did have to pull a few ticks off of her later!) The place was very thoughtfully prepared, with bedside tables, a small table, and plenty of cookware. Outside there were chairs around the campfire pit and a picnic table. Plenty of water for drinking and washing. Would love to stay here again!

The shade at this site and the cold running creek saved us from the hot July 4th temperatures this weekend...the kids caught a box turtle, a couple of minnows, several salamanders and crawfish and a bunch of frogs (all released!). Definitely needed the fans because there was no breeze!! Excellent facilities and a wonderful experience.

Weekend Trip to Jack's Run , Glade Hill, VA

Rustic while not lacking any amenities. We were so comfortable and appreciated all the little touches! There is a short walk through grass, and a gate, to get inside. This wasn't an issue but noted so you can be mindful the weight of items needed. Bugs weren't bad at all but helps to bring bug spray. The cabin itself was so charming. The pool took care of us in the heat and the barn was the perfect place to chill during the rain. Highly recommend 10/10!

If you’re looking for a place that feels like you’ve stepped into another world, this is it. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had been transported to a truly unique and peaceful retreat where it was easy to disconnect from everyday life and simply enjoy the surroundings. Jodee was an exceptional host, and all of the friendly animals, made the experience even more memorable and added such a warm, personal touch that you just don’t find everywhere. The yurt itself was incredibly well equipped. Everything we could have needed was already there, and you could tell a great deal of thought and care had gone into every detail. We never found ourselves wishing for anything. Between the amazing location, the one-of-a-kind atmosphere, and the outstanding hospitality, this was one of the most enjoyable places we’ve stayed. We left already talking about coming back, and I have no doubt we’ll be returning. Highly recommended!

The Marshall Creek Cabin was secluded and peaceful. It was all set up so minimal supplies were needed. Decor was simple and inviting. Darin was very responsive to my questions. There was a nice trail to walk, and a fire pit for the evening to relax by. There were solar lights both outside and inside. The is no AC/Heat and it is clearly advertised . We came prepared with a battery operated fan. Luckily for us we had cool weather nights in mid June so we slept in comfort. We saw the owl house hanging on a tree and actually heard it at night. There is a shower (no hot water unless you heat it over the fire) and a portable jon both just 20-30 steps from the cabin. I would highly recommend this site to anyone. I will hopefully return. It was the perfect getaway for my husband and myself.

I truly cannot find the words to accurately describe how magical the River Nest is. I can tell you that it was very hard having to leave! This place is an absolute oasis for anyone looking for a place to enjoy some solitude and/or be surrounded by beautiful nature and scenery. Christine has thought of every detail, there was truly nothing I needed that wasn't available to me. From the magestic views, to the great hiking trails, picking fresh blackberries, having access to the river below, I was beyond happy to be there every minute of the day. Cannot wait to return!
