Moon Glow Haven is a magical countryside location. We are creating a place we can offer to hold festivals, weddings, family and friends reunions, rustic camping and more. The lower part of the property spans approximately 3 acres. It is partially wooded with a relaxing creek running through the woods. There is a porta john onsite (Rental required for large events) and we also have a water spigot available and a 100 gallon trash can for you to dispose of your trash. We have horseshoe pits and corn hole available for some low key activities. There is a bonfire area where you relax and enjoy a fire. There is a 16' x 22' stage tucked away in the corner of the property if needed for dancing or musicians. Come camp in the woods near the creek and enjoy the sounds of nature. It is dark enough for star gazing as well. There are also 2 RV Sites available; one with power available and one without. Nearby attractions include Strawberry Hill Cafe about 3 miles away, Cowpens Battlefields about 11 miles away and Tryon Equestrian Center about 13 miles away.

Plumtree Campground and Retreat is an off-the-beaten-path property for hikers, bikers (pedal and e-bike), campers, adventurers, parkway goers, mountain lovers, fisherman, and skiers/snowboarders.The property has a formerly used zip line recreation area. Relics remain, with zip lines and bridges still running through the tree canopy and an old climbing wall. These aren’t currently in use, and cannot be explored, but they add a wonderland-like quality to the land. The steep driveway wasn't that bad and led to camping sites that captured the heart of the North Carolina mountains. Great privacy and views and even some woodland creatures to remind you of the camping experience. Full hookups and access to a very, very clean bathhouse/laundry room. Awesome quick access to many attractions (I favor all the local hiking trails). Definitely on my list to visit again. Thankx!

We absolutely love camping by the waterfall! If you have an AWD/4x4 vehicle you can make it up the drive. Just be aware if bears and other animals. Our last day it was raining quite a bit so the drive back was slick but other than that zero complaints! Hendersonville is only 25 mins away and it's such a cute town with all you need for camping or food :) we will absolutely be back (more prepared, of course)

Beth and Rob were awesome Hosts, and they have an amazing property! I car/tent camped at Site 5 for 3 nights. My favorite thing to do was sitting on my "lawn", reading a good book, and listening to the creek. So relaxing. Four of the Dispersed Sites on the level below were filled on the weekend. The entire place was still nice and quiet. The outdoor shower was wonderful, and the Port-a-Potty was clean and serviced weekly. My Granddaughter is a Freshman at Brevard College, and Trails & Tails Waterfall HipCamp will be my home away from home when I visit! 😊

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I stayed for three nights while visiting nearby family and needed a peaceful place to pitch my tent. (I actually prefer sleeping on the ground when traveling alone.) I was so fortunate to have chosen this spot over all the other possibilities! I stayed at the “A” site — super quiet to the point that I didn’t even need my earplugs. There were a few other campers, but they were hardly noticeable, and there was no nearby traffic noise at all. The running brook next to the tent site added a peaceful, relaxing background sound that made my stay even better. My hosts were warm and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. I could tell they were truly in touch with Mother Earth and cared for the land in a thoughtful way. I’m already looking forward to coming back with my partner to explore more of the hiking and biking opportunities in this beautiful area.

These hosts really care about their guests. Yes, we are repeats, but there is a reason for that. As a woman camping, I know I am safe! So whenever I camp here, i can really, truly, relax. Where to go

Lake James State Park

Northeast of Marion on the border of Pisgah National Forest, Lake James State Park features sandy beaches, rugged forestry, and two on-site campgrounds. Lake James’ campgrounds offer tent-only accommodations with backpacking areas and paddle-in campsites. All frontcountry campsites include a firepit, picnic table, and 12x12 tent pad with access to potable water faucets, toilets, and hot showers. After a night in nature, check out the park’s boat rentals for a day out on the water or hike along Mill's Creek Trail for Blue Ridge Mountain views.

Pisgah National Forest

Less than an hour from Marion, forested peaks, rivers, and waterfalls await in Pisgah National Forest. The forest maintains multiple campgrounds, cabin rentals, dispersed districts, and horse-friendly campsites, many of which include full hookups, drinking water, dump stations, and showers. Pisgah is also home to over 200 waterfalls, Blue Ridge Mountains, and gem and mining caves in Emerald Village, where visitors can take a unique black-light tour of the cavernous depths. Campers can also consider the rugged terrain and valleys of Linville Gorge Wilderness area for more challenging trails and mountain climbing.

South Mountains State Park

South Mountains State Park has two access points for campers: Clever Creek and Jacob Fork. As the largest state park in North Carolina, South Mountains is renowned for its 18-mile mountain-bike loop, an 80-ft waterfall, and 40 miles of hiking trails reaching elevations up to 3,000 feet. On-site camping facilities for tents, RVs, trailers, and horses are available at the Jacob Fork access. All campsites come with firepits, picnic tables, and access to showers—a few provide electric hookups, as well.

When to go

Marion’s warm summers and mild winters attract campers year-round. With sun-filled summer skies and temperatures reaching the mid 80s to low 90s, campers can spend warm days by the beach and out on the water from late June to early September. Winter temperatures often drop below freezing overnight, making cold-weather camping gear essential for winter camping.
