Really nice spot for solo campers and large groups alike. My dogs were very happy with the space to roam. Convenient location to historic Gold Hill and hiking at Uwharrie and the Eagle Point Nature Preserve.

Weekend Trip to Babbling Brook Campground

We had a great weekend staying at the newly-constructed Birds' Nest Tent and Hammock site! It was well-equipped and just what we wanted for a weekend getaway, and Elizabeth and Mark were extremely helpful & hospitable. It was a nice bonus to go see their farm & animals at a time that was convenient for them also - it is their home, so we wanted to be respectful of their privacy and time. Pack light - it's a bit of a walk downhill to the site, and she has a lot of things you may need down there already! Water shoes for playing in the creek were well worth bringing along with a bundle of dry, larger firewood. It's a great site, would recommend.

Great views! Went as a solo female camper and overall felt safe. The host was really nice and occasionally would see the neighbors on the other side of the waterfall. They provided firestarters, hatchet, sticks and other useful things I didn't expect. I saw a beaver wandering around a couple of times. Would visit again!

Always one of my favorite spots, scenery doesn’t get much better, it’s convenient, and it’s always nice falling asleep to the sound of the waterfall. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Waterfall camping close to CLT

We recently stayed at this beautiful Hipcamp site with three families (kids ages 4 to 10), and it was an incredible experience for everyone! The location is stunning—nestled right along a river with large, flat rocks that are perfect for wading, exploring, or just lounging by the water. The waterfall is amazing!!! There’s a great mix of shade and sun, and the sand made a perfect spot for the kids to play. We loved the setup for cooking and hanging out—it felt like a little beach picnic right in the woods. The kids especially loved visiting and feeding the goats and chickens. It was such a unique and memorable part of the trip! The animals were friendly, and the host was kind enough to let the children interact with them up close, which made it feel like a mini farm adventure. This site had everything we needed: plenty of space for tents, nearby nature to explore, and a clean porta john to use. Everyone—kids and adults alike—left with smiles and great memories. We’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Neal Creek Camping Sites

Tent camping was great on the property, we stayed at campsite 2, plenty of space and flat land. Very nice that they had firewood available on the site. Also used the swing and picnic table. It was very nice to have a working toilet and water available. Great for just hanging out with the family and relaxing, private enough, not a lot of stuff for kids to explore, but close enough that we were to Kings Mountain Park. Very clean, had no problems.

Great isolated location. Frogs and other night critters sing you to sleep. Tent pad is excellent! Be sure to check out the town of Gold Hill.

This was the perfect site! Beautiful, secluded enough but not far away from civilization. There’s a small building between both camp sites so you can’t hear/see the other group. The trains were a little loud at night but if you’re tired or a heavy sleeper, you should be fine! We will absolutely be coming back!

Our stay was amazing. Came in for just one night for a concert we have been looking forward to. Elizabeth was fantastic and communicated well. Her place was tucked off the beaten path but so perfect. A little bit of a hike I must say so pack accordingly :). Such a peaceful place for our little getaway. We will definitely stay here again.

3 nights at Waterfall camping close to CLT

Super amazing and just peaceful. Exactly what my family needed. There is a family living near by, and they own a little section of the sand bar so you have to stay to the one side. We still had a blast and you stl have access to the waterfall, but they were down there the majority of the time we were there so less “private” yet still peaceful. P.s the big rock the cliff towards the water think the lion king had 6 water occasions curled up in the crack (easily visible!) so be very vigiliant and scout the area before letting children go off.

This is a great location and easy to find. The rustic bathroom was clean and easy to use. I loved sitting on the swing with my morning coffee, listening to the birds and the nearby stream.

1 night at Bear Creek Tee-Pee Retreat

amazing! so close to town yet very secluded. The space was well taken care of and the whole place takes on a whole new vibe at night❤️ I am a lighting installation artist and the lighting at night was 10/10. The host was so very accommodating and answered all my questions (which was a lot). I will definitely be coming back! This space is a true gem. Thank you to the hosts for such a fantastic space and hospitality!

Weekend Trip to Bear Creek Tee-Pee Retreat

This was an awesome little spot. Two tee pees in the fields and 3 camping spots in the woods. The communal fire pit and stage are awesome. Love the cool rainbow last lights in the stage. Also very pretty colored accent lights surrounding the field perimeter. Very cool. Will come again.

We took our 5 year old son here for his first camping trip and we had a great time! The hat field was a nice open area to have room for the tent and to run and play. He also loved feeding the animals and the exploring the woods/creek!

Waterfall camping close to CLT

My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Glamping tents and additional camping tents are available through a local company. Look in the pictures for the tent with red, white, and blue balloons. Message me for details. Close to US National Whitewater Center (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking), Kings Mountain National Military Park (Horseback riding and history), Crowders Mountain (Hiking), 3 miles off of I-85 and US-321 for people passing through.

Neal Creek Camping Sites

Neal Creek Primitive camping by the creek is located on private property. The two large campsites are approximately 300 feet apart and are located right beside the running creek. Plenty of shaded area's. We have a 6-8 person tent available to rent as well! Learn more about this land: We are only 1/2 a mile from the Interstate 85. So bring your tents, campers or your small RV and come and setup down by the babbling creek. If you don't have or own a tent, we have a large 6-8 person tent available for a small rental fee too. Build a nice fire in the fire pit. The firewood and kindling is provided. The campsites are semi-wooded areas with plenty of shade. They are very large private, peaceful and quiet sites. View the stars at night, play in the creek during the day or if you are into biking or hiking, go to the Overmountain Victory trail located about 15 minutes away and enjoy the 6.7 mile loop around Lake Whelchel right off I-85. Local attractions: Biking, Hiking, Climbing and Horse trails - Kings Mtn National Park, Kings Mtn State Park, Crowder's Mtn State Park, Overmountain Victory Trail Segment - Lake Whelchel. Two Kings Casino is just a 10 minute trip right up Interstate - 85, exit 5 Convenient stores/restaurants within minutes from site.

Babbling Brook Campground

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

AWD or 4WD may be required during wet weather. Cars that are low to the ground are not recommended. We have table and 2 bench seats, fire pit, water, trash bin, toilet, a canoe and noodles to use in pond at the pond site. We built this space as our little stay-cation spot and knew we had to share it. We are passionate about what we do and work hard to continue to build and grow and share this beautiful space for others to enjoy. We have 3 primitive sites and 2 authentic tee-pees. There is a bath house with a heated shower, and a port-a-john that is cleaned regularly. There are 2 picnic areas with charcoal grills. We have a 24x16 enclosed stage that can be used for bands, educational classes, karaoke, yoga... ect. There is also an outdoor movie theater that is available to rent for an evening. There are a few restaurants close by and we are only 6 miles from downtown Mocksville. There are a lot of wineries and breweries within a 30 min drive from our property. We are about 15 minutes from river access to the Yadkin river for anyone looking to Kayak. There are lots of local fishing holes and places to go horseback riding. We are about an hour drive to lots of different hiking trails from pilot mountain, and hanging rock to the blue ridge parkway. We have 2 dogs that live here and will greet you at the gate. Please be respectful of the neighbors and drive slowly down the dirt road to our property to limit dust. We look forward to hosting your camping get away.

Learn more about this land: In this 40 acre track there are 2 hay fields, pasture, and forrest. From any area you camp🏕 the pond🏞, with fish, is in walking distance, so is a beautiful clear stream. ****Did I mention that this stream empties into Lake Tillary, yep, that is right. We are within walking distance to Lake Tillary and less than 5 mins to the boat landing. You may bring your boat and park it here while you camp. SPECIAL NOTE: There are animals here that you may pet once you have been properly introduced. You may bring your pets as long as they are vaccinated and behaved. If they fight with other animals or chase chickens or ducks you may want to test this upon your arrival. Unfortunately, you must keep them on leash at all times. Our County does have a leash law, and should property🌱🌹🌻🚜🚗📬🗑or animals🦌🐂🐏🐐🐰🦃🦆 be damaged or harmed you will be held responsible. For example, if your dog kills a chicken, you buy the chicken🐓🐔🐥. If they harm a horse🐎 or donkey🐴, you are responsible for ALL vet fees. Also, be aware we have coyotes, osprey, hawks, as any rural area does. Small animals must be suprevised. We are not responsible for acts of nature. The barn is beautiful and you are welcome to take photos, however, you are NOT permitted in the barn without supervision. Absolutley NO smoking or fire near the barn. It is over 100 years old and built by my great grand family and is irreplaceable. SPECIAL FEATURE: As I am just beginning the camp on site experience I offer several options and additional services. #1. Some find out after arriving that I teach NC Concealed Carry Handgun Classes. If you wish to participate in a class, it is preferred that you register before the day of the class. I will post classes on this site so that campers will know there will be shooting in the late afternoon. Some chose to camp on other weekends, some choose to go out to eat during those times, and some don't mind either way. #2. I am also much in favor of work for camp site. Some have asked to do clean up or other small jobs for the priviledge to camp. So far this has worked out well, with one exception. Please do not accept an offer to take on a task that you do not know how to do. Example, pulling weeds or trimming if you do not know what a weed verses flower looks like. LOL #3. There is plenty of firewood, see photos, here laying around and some trees down that will make great firewood (bring your own cutting tools.) We also sell firewood by the bundle. #4. Being a camper here gives you the privilege of fresh veggies and fruits that are in season, as well as fresh free range eggs. MAJOR POINT: You must remember this is a working farm and our duties and responsibilities for the farm come first. You must abide by the boundaries. *see map* The creek is the back boundary and should never be crossed onto my neighbors. I will not tolerate any disrespect to my neighbors, what so ever. No! the roosters don't have an off button, neither does the jacka... donkey! When it is hay cutting time, we will cut hay. If you want to hike the property, feel free, know the boundaries and bring a machete to cut your way by the creek/stream in some areas. We have thistle trees and briars, you are welcome to cut all you wish as you go. There are spiders, bugs, and snakes etc. Black snakes, king snakes, runners, and whip snakes belong here and we ask that you do not kill them. Copperheads are here as qell and if you see one, come get me and I will dispatch it for you. .
