We are the coolest little campground in WNC. 3feather Sanctuary is tucked away in the amazing countryside of the Appalachian mountains, surrounded by beautiful, stately trees and a creek meanders through the property. We have all the amenities and yet retain the rustic natural charm of the majestic mountain town. We have an amazing bathhouse(commonground) with the best shower, communal fridge & honor system w/d, tucked beside a convenient outdoor covered kitchen, we have fiber WiFi, & swimming hole. This is the perfect peaceful getaway near great outdoor activities and some of the best that North Carolina has to offer! 3Feather Sanctuary is surrounded by beautiful, stately trees and has a creek meandering through it. The closest town is Hot Springs, which is 20 minutes away and the Hot Springs are a definite must-see if that peaks your interest! The town itself is also pretty cool. There are some good shops, restaurants & our favorite hardware store!! Downtown Marshall is also close, about 25 minutes and has a lot to offer! Gr8 restaurants, thrifting and cute shops along the river. Our property is about an hour away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the adorable city of Asheville - which makes for a fantastic day trip with delicious restaurants, breweries, cool shops, and more! The Great Smokey Mountains and Deep Creek are about 1.5 hours away from the campsite. The Appalachian Trail is closeby and there are countless opportunities for stunning hikes. There's also kayaking, tubing, white water rafting opportunities as well as zip lining and horseback riding. There is something for everyone to enjoy and we can't wait to share it with you! Full disclosure: We have a camera pointed at the entrance and one at the bath house door, which we can move around to make sure that when people check in they make it to the right spot since I manage remotely part of the year. We have regular yard maintenance, however, we are Country natural landscape, not parking lot type campground, so the grass is slightly higher in some small areas but truly those things are part of a sustainable and uniquely beautiful camping experience!

James landed on the property in 2009, built a small dairy barn and milked 3 cows for a couple years before building the two cabins. In 2015 he was joined by Sofi, originally from Sweden and together they have three daughters. Together they manage a botanically interesting hobby hill farm and are happy to host travelers and seekers in their cabins. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water" Orchard House was built entirely by James from the block up to the roof, averaging 1 hour/day for 3 years or 1,000 hours. Some of the Hilltop photos are a bit dated, we have a more private outhouse behind the cabin, and have made a few improvements here and there. Reach out anytime for any reason. Year 8 for campers at our Farm! We hope you find the peace and beauty we've had ever since we fell in love with this property in 2012. We have welcomed a number of people from across the US as well as from several other countries. We love to share our beautiful, organic farm with friends and family as well as strangers-to-friends through Hipcamp. Take a day, weekend, or week to enjoy time in our special space! Pitch your tent or set up your camper in the primary sites next to or near the creek. 360-degree views of the mountains with famous Cold Mountain and Mt Pisgah among the views to our South. There are two large fire pits for the chillier nights/mornings with a basic grate (only 1) to go over the fire for cooking. We can supply firewood, as needed, for a small fee. It's best that you request firewood when you book your site. We have access to clean water as well as flowing water in the creek. No portapotty at this time. Check out the pictures for other views. For hikers or mountain bikers: Chestnut Mountain Nature Park includes trails for both interests just 10-12 minutes away from the Farm. The Berm Park is part of this wonderful network of trails. There are also a number of other trailheads within 45 minutes of the farm to include Little Sam Knob Trailhead and the Art Loeb/Cold Mountain Trailhead off of Hwy 215 (for hikers) and Hard Times Trailhead in Asheville for bikers and hikers. Take a look around before you come for other outdoor possibilities in the area to enjoy. Learn more about this land: We live in Beaverdam Community just north of the town of Canton. We adore our land and do our best to preserve and care for the natural beauty around us. At the farm, June is firefly month and late September/October is leaf-peeping season (no need to drive to see either of those!). This immaculate small cabin near Asheville is ready to treat you to a luxurious retreat experience. We are located only 15 minutes from Asheville and a few miles from the parkway, surrounded by 14 acres of forest. There is a private hot tub that is all yours! Sauna available upon request. Professional massage therapist onsite as well. The house is hand crafted with unique creative touches for your delight. We look forward to having you! This home was built in 2019 by an expert craftsman with the vision of making it cozy and spacious with sweet artistic details and lots of care and love. The home is 300 sq feet but feels much more grand inside. You will be nestled on 14 pristine acres of forest, with two decks, your own personal private hot tub, and a spring fed creek not too far down the driveway. There is a gas fireplace outdoors on the porch, and an outdoor fire pit for your use as well. The house has a queen size bed in the upper loft, a large twin day bed on the first level, and an extra loft with camping mats if needed above the day bed. The house can comfortably sleep 3 and up to 4 or 5 especially if a couple of them are children or petite people. The house has a full kitchen and bathroom, living room area and two lofts. For now there is a composting toilet that is easy to maintain and we are happy to help you with it if you’re on the land for more than a few days. The main house is about 30 yards up the hill, and although somewhat close, you will have plenty of privacy. We are close if you need us, but we try to give all of our guests ultimate privacy. The house is under a huge magnolia tree, so it stays shaded in the summer and quite cool. There is an AC unit and heaters in the house as well. There is a personal hot tub, which is screened in, and located on the front deck of the house now. You will love it! There is a back deck that is only for meditation, yoga, and bird watching, and we ask that folks stay silent on the back deck if they use it. Pets are welcome at an extra charge of $40 a night. If anything is needed down at the house we are available. Much of the time there is a massage therapist on site, so if you are interested in getting Bodywork please just inquire about prices and availability. There is also a wood-fired sauna on the property, so if you would like to sauna please let us know. And an added bonus is that you are only 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and LOTS of great hiking, great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, art galleries and more. Asheville is 15 minutes from the tiny cabin and Weaverville is 10 minutes away. On any given day you might see a family a deer, turkeys or bears in the front yard. There is a spring fed creek on the edge of the property you are welcome to soak your feet in, and there is incredible hiking just a few miles away. You are welcome to explore the 13 acres of property as well that the home is located on. This is not a place for parties. Our neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill so we try to respect their privacy and keep it quiet. That is why we have made the back deck a retreat/silent deck. Maximum of 4 guests.

This 1890's farm was many things in times long ago! It acted as a working Tobacco Farm, a country store and was known to have the purest spring in the region by the indians and mountain men! It also has a dark past complete with murder and moonshine! For a full history check out this book, Red Hill. The untold story of the Whitson Brothers and the Murder of Kit Byrd. The short version of the story: The farm also acted as a country store that was also a front for moonshine. The Whitson Brothers who owned our farm had a deal with Kit Byrd;  a mountaineer from "on the mountain" who had a knack for making good shine. It ultimately was the death of him at the hands of the 3 Whitson Brothers. This murder years later led to the death of a large percentage of the population in this small NC Mtn town. Learn more about this land:On a mountain by a river in a true "holler". We are the coolest little campground in WNC. 3feather Sanctuary is tucked away in the amazing countryside of the Appalachian mountains, surrounded by beautiful, stately trees and a creek meanders through the property. Our property is about an hour away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the adorable city of Asheville - which makes for a fantastic day trip with delicious restaurants, breweries, cool shops, and more! The Great Smokey Mountains and Deep Creek are about 1.5 hours away from the campsite. The Appalachian Trail is closeby and there are countless opportunities for stunning hikes. There's also kayaking, tubing, white water rafting opportunities as well as zip lining and horseback riding. There is something for everyone to enjoy and we can't wait to share it with you! For hikers or mountain bikers: Chestnut Mountain Nature Park includes trails for both interests just 10-12 minutes away from the Farm. The Berm Park is part of this wonderful network of trails. There are also a number of other trailheads within 45 minutes of the farm to include Little Sam Knob Trailhead and the Art Loeb/Cold Mountain Trailhead off of Hwy 215 (for hikers) and Hard Times Trailhead in Asheville for bikers and hikers. Take a look around before you come for other outdoor possibilities in the area to enjoy. Learn more about this land: We live in Beaverdam Community just north of the town of Canton. We adore our land and do our best to preserve and care for the natural beauty around us. At the farm, June is firefly month and late September/October is leaf-peeping season (no need to drive to see either of those!). This immaculate small cabin near Asheville is ready to treat you to a luxurious retreat experience. We are located only 15 minutes from Asheville and a few miles from the parkway, surrounded by 14 acres of forest. There is a private hot tub that is all yours! Sauna available upon request. Professional massage therapist onsite as well. The house is hand crafted with unique creative touches for your delight. We look forward to having you! This home was built in 2019 by an expert craftsman with the vision of making it cozy and spacious with sweet artistic details and lots of care and love. The home is 300 sq feet but feels much more grand inside. You will be nestled on 14 pristine acres of forest, with two decks, your own personal private hot tub, and a spring fed creek not too far down the driveway. There is a gas fireplace outdoors on the porch, and an outdoor fire pit for your use as well. The house has a queen size bed in the upper loft, a large twin day bed on the first level, and an extra loft with camping mats if needed above the day bed. The house can comfortably sleep 3 and up to 4 or 5 especially if a couple of them are children or petite people. The house has a full kitchen and bathroom, living room area and two lofts. For now there is a composting toilet that is easy to maintain and we are happy to help you with it if you’re on the land for more than a few days. The main house is about 30 yards up the hill, and although somewhat close, you will have plenty of privacy. We are close if you need us, but we try to give all of our guests ultimate privacy. The house is under a huge magnolia tree, so it stays shaded in the summer and quite cool. There is an AC unit and heaters in the house as well. There is a personal hot tub, which is screened in, and located on the front deck of the house now. You will love it! There is a back deck that is only for meditation, yoga, and bird watching, and we ask that folks stay silent on the back deck if they use it. Pets are welcome at an extra charge of $40 a night. If anything is needed down at the house we are available. Much of the time there is a massage therapist on site, so if you are interested in getting Bodywork please just inquire about prices and availability. There is also a wood-fired sauna on the property, so if you would like to sauna please let us know. And an added bonus is that you are only 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and LOTS of great hiking, great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, art galleries and more. Asheville is 15 minutes from the tiny cabin and Weaverville is 10 minutes away. On any given day you might see a family a deer, turkeys or bears in the front yard. There is a spring fed creek on the edge of the property you are welcome to soak your feet in, and there is incredible hiking just a few miles away. You are welcome to explore the 13 acres of property as well that the home is located on. This is not a place for parties. Our neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill so we try to respect their privacy and keep it quiet. That is why we have made the back deck a retreat/silent deck. Maximum of 4 guests.

Sunset Ridge near Del Rio, TN is a true hidden gem perched high on a ridge with sweeping 50-mile western views of untouched American wilderness. From towering 6,000+ ft Smoky Mountain peaks to dense pine forests, deer, bears, and classic backwoods charm, this spot delivers the authentic mountain experience. Like many Hipcamp sites, you’ll drive through a few “interesting” areas to get there, but it’s absolutely worth the short detour off I-40. Hurricane Helen repair work continues in the region, so expect minor delays—but nothing that should deter your stay. The site itself is well laid out with a reliable 50-AMP hookup (30-AMP rigs should bring an adapter), two properly placed sewer connections for easy access, and a well-pump water source offering around 15–20 psi. We found that perfectly adequate for daily use, or you can fill your onboard tank and enjoy a stronger 40–50 psi via your RV’s pump. A cozy two-person swing overlooks the valley and is perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset photos. The spacious gravel circular driveway provides plenty of room for multiple vehicles and offers simple, level parking. Nights were peacefully quiet, with only the sounds of the woods around you. The paved road network above and around the property makes for great short hikes and even better sunset views. A firepit, available WiFi, and open sky complete the experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking solitude, scenery, and Smoky Mountain magic. We will definitely be back soon.

My family loved this Asheville retreat! This was our first time in the area and although it was a short trip, it was mighty! Jam packed full of tons of touristy activities within the city, but also exploring trails and sights along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nate and Stephanie’s place was the perfect distance to not be too far away, allowing us to enjoy the evening out from under the city lights, but also still close enough to all of the various activities that we did. Throughout everything we did, my son (7) said the hot tub was his favorite part. It’s also worth mentioning that when the hosts found out we were arriving well after dark, they made the effort to turn the lights on for us, which most definitely helped with our arrival. Nate and Stephanie, thank you for allowing us to call your place “home”. We look forward to returning again some day!

This place is truly breathtaking! The site is level ground with a creek surrounded by mountains. They have great fire pits and the hosts were so incredibly kind and fun! They helped me build a nice fire and they also offer packets to throw in the fire for colored flames, which I was really excited about! They also brought me a cornhole set up that you can order with your booking. I will defietly be back..maybe this trip. You can truly get a sense of mountain life here. I loved it!!

The view is beautiful as everybody else said. There's also plenty of space and he was nice enough to leave behind a decent pack of logs for the campfire. There are a few things that some people might consider downsides that I didn't see listed in the reviews. Though it isn't busy, the campsite is pretty close to the road. Maybe 30ft or so. While I was there, one of the neighbors happened to be doing some construction well into the night and two neighbors have pretty persistent outside dogs. The owner (I'm guessing) showed up during one of the days to do some construction on a cabin he's building a little bit further down the hill (great spot for a cabin). Though he left around sundown. Again, beautiful site and I'm greatful to have spent the weekend there, just wanted to share some details.

If you are looking for peace and tranquility in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this privately owned, primitive campground is a great place for your tent! Nestled in Medford Mountain at about 1200 ft., each creek-side slip has a magnificent view of the 1532 ft. mountaintop. Whether surrounded by spring blossoms or fall foliage, animal and leaf lovers often see turkeys at dawn and deer at dusk. Foxes and bobcats have also been spotted on occasion. It is important to note that bear and coyote roam freely on the adjacent mountaintop, although are rarely seen or heard. Proper wilderness precautions must always be taken while camping. Aside from the flora and fauna, one of the biggest attractions is the star-filled sky. On a clear night, it is imperative to take a break from your private campfire to appreciate the Milky Way. You may also enjoy the meteor showers in August and other celestial events. Not to be outdone, the day sky does not disappoint. If a pop-up shower passes through, a double rainbow is often left in its wake. In the surrounding area, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy during the day. In a half hour or less, you may go horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hiking, and climbing. Public access to Lake Lure is less than 15 mi. away, but access to a lakeside road with amazing views is only a couple of minutes away. In addition, there is a little-known waterfall about 8 minutes up the street. If spending the day on site, be sure to walk the trail on the opposite side of the creek and hike up the hill for a different view. In addition, badminton, volleyball, ladder ball, cornhole, Yardzee, croquet, bocce, frisbees, footballs, board games and books are available for free rental. Plus, children may enjoy gem mining in the creek (for an additional fee). Of course, everyone can play Slapsquatch on the grounds for free. *Last minute decision? No worries! Gusher Knob is a 220+ acre forested mountain near Spruce Pine, NC. One of the campsites has a 12 x 12 raised platform for your tent (we don't recommend pitching a tent anywhere other than the platform), picnic table, fire pit, and a hook to hold a lantern. This first campsite on the property has a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A second campsite is more primitive (no picnic table or platform yet) is in a forested section with access to the Toe River. It is available now, but improvements are planned such as building a platform, adding a picnic bench and expanding the current fire pit. Please stay on the trails and the campsite areas as the surrounding land is private and monitored. Cell coverage is ok. Nearby hiking, climbing, and fly fishing are a few activities you will enjoy when visiting this lovely area of western NC. One campsite is a short 7-minute easy hike along a well-marked clear trail from the parking spot. The trail is non-technical and will mostly accommodate camping gear with wheels, such as a cooler. The other campsite takes a little longer hike to reach (10-minutes). Since it's situated in the woods, please be aware that you may encounter any number of nature's residents such as deer, squirrels, box turtles, wild turkeys, and bears. Please do not feed them and make sure to protect any food items appropriately. Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer 5 full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space. Our campground offers a unique camping experience for the RV and outdoors enthusiast. All of our RV sites feature views of the surrounding peaks and have full hook ups with, water, septic and 30 or 50 amp power access, high speed wi-fi access at each site as well as a picnic table and in ground fire pits. Wiseman Ridge provides the peace and quiet of nature at its finest, with easy direct access to the Blue Ridge Parkway by foot or by road. We are just a mile down the parkway from the entrance to the Linville Falls parking lot and picnic area, and 2 miles from Kistler Memorial Highway (Old NC 105) that provides access to the western rim of Linville Gorge and multiple trailheads. This property is situated on 50 acres, surrounded by private property with views of the nearby Pisgah National Forest and a 10 minute drive to DuPont State Forest. Campsites are adjacent to the French Broad River. Excellent fishing and boating. It is heavily populated by deer and other wildlife. For this reason, dogs must be kept on a leash. Please note that due to the campground being in low-lying land, the drive in is subject to being slick and muddy, 4WD is required. Message us with any questions. Due to the property proximity to the river and situated in floodway, the sites are subject to flooding during heavy rain events. Voluntary and/or mandatory evacuation may be necessary during any reservation due to high waters or forecast for high water events. If evacuation is necessary, unused portions of reservation will be refunded. Campers are advised to be self-sufficient with water and shower facilities. We do provide a port a potty and firewood is for sale on site (Venmo, PayPal or cash). IF YOU ARE CAMPING WITH A RV OR TRAILER, PLEASE CONTACT US TO DISCUSS A SITE. My family desperately needed a COVID safe getaway so we decided to retreat to the woods. Cherryfield Luxury Group Camping exceeded our expectations. The shelters and grounds were prestine and the covered platforms were definately the way to go car camping. Our tents stayed neat and the covered shelter kept us dry and cozy as we watched the rain on our second night without a fly on our tent.This campsite has thought of everything. There are grills an firepits beside each platform (each platform is large enough for 3 four person tents) and there are two common shelters with electricity and GORGEOUS bathrooms. It is funny to say, but the bathrooms were nicer than many hotels we've stayed at... large tiled shower with digital temperature controls, excellent water pressure from the large rain shower head, and, as a bonus, surround shower heads for that extra special something. I have never been excited by a shower or bathroom at a campground, but I made sure to shower before leaving because the experience was so zen. There is ample lawn space to play games, set up additional tents, and spread out for privacy, even during larger group gatherings. There are grills and grill tops by each fire pit making campfire or grill cooking easy, but delicious local restaurants just 10 minutes away also offer catering style menus that makie car camping and group gatherings even easier (the local BBQ and Italian were terrific). The grounds are meticulously kept and there are sturdy bear boxes to protect food and trash to help keep unwanted visitors from troubling guests. While we enjoyed some activities away from Cherryfied, we could have easily spent the entire weekend at the campsite. Not only are the grounds spectacular, but there is an easy walking trail to a lovely moss covered waterfall just steps away from the campgroud. The sound of the waterfall can be heard from the campground. It added ambient atmosphere and lulled us to sleep each night. The hosts were terrific and offered many suggestions for take out meals and activities. My only criticism is that the weekend went by too quickly. I did not realize how much my family needed an escape of this sort until we got the Cherryfield. I recomment Cherryfield without reservation. Take good care of this special place. We cannot wait to return.
