(Southeast NC can be hot during summer months) * There is some firewood, bring extra- it never hurts to have more dry wood available * There is no running water but a 7 gallon jug of water is provided for washing hands (Not recommended for drinking) as well as a 7 gallon hand pump shower jug * A portable loo (camping toilet/bucket) is available in the outdoor shower. Bags are located in the cabin. (Please use bags provided for any waste) * Body bathing wipes are available for your use * no fridge but there is a cooler for any perishable items or drinks/water you bring. Just bring ice! * fire extinguisher, first aid kit available * There is a man made pond, still growing naturally to host plants and fish. OPENING DOOR: * The wall is on a rope pulley system with a hand crank. Simply crank the pulley and the door will open. Once open please grab each leg from the door running up the frame as seen in the photos and place them into locking positions. To close, push down the silver locking mechanism on the hand crank. PLEASE HOLD the rope as you do this so the door doesn’t slam down then slowly lower the door. Photos in guidebook as well

I spent a few days here in early December and just extended for the next month. It’s a charming, rural spot with full amenities at all sites, bathrooms including showers, washer and dryer. Pet friendly with trails to take my dog for a walk. Will and Lorie have been exceptionally kind and welcoming and came to check on me during a recent cold spell. Very safe and private. There’s a nearby mobile rv technician, Mike the RV Medic who helped me repair my furnace and was very professional. Very reasonable rates for everything being offered. I highly recommend!

We had a great stay in cabin 8! It was nice and warm on a chilly day, and had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable and the space was very clean and decorated beautifully. This was a short trip, so we weren’t able to explore the property and amenities, but hope to return again soon and bring our dog!

This is a beautiful and private spot overlooking the Waccamaw River. I extended my stay here twice because we enjoyed it so much. Plenty of dry wood for a campfire and having a porta potty on site was nice too. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely beautiful place. The pictures don't do it justice. Well spaced, generously sized sites, and clean, nicely maintained porta-john. The provided wipes are especially nice. The camp hostess rolls out the red carpet. We will definitely be coming back here.

I am more amazed each visit. Thanks as usual to Lisa and Eric for being the perfect hosts. They are always willing to help with any needs. We loved Black River Camping Ventures, it’s a most beautiful and serene landscape. Right on the river the views are magical. Walking up to the point and watching the sunset was a breathtaking moment. They have a lovely beach area to launch kayaks and some wonderful swamp and cypress areas to explore. Catfish in the river make fishing a fun time! The camping areas are large and each feature a fire ring with swing over cooking grate, trash can and picnic table. There are a couple of portable-John’s for use which are kept spotless. They even supply tissue, wipes and sanitizer! Mrs Lisa and Mr Eric were absolutely wonderful hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed for a fabulous time. We recommend very highly this camping site for fun family adventures.

Excellent stay! Beautiful space, very peaceful, short drive to Wilmington. Lots of fun little trails to walk our dog, who had the BEST time. Beautiful goats. Host keeps to themselves while still being very welcoming and warm. The compostable toilet area is as described. The free fire wood is great but I'm very glad they accept donations, the wood kept us warm and entertained with fires for our entire stay so we were happy to give a little back. Would definitely stay again.
