About the property
You will have our entire 14 acre property to yourself which features some amazing mountain views and is adjacent to state lands for exploration.
To access the site you will drive approx. 15 minutes up a gravel road. Overall we are located about ~30 minutes from I-40 and about 25 min to Marion & Morganton, NC.
For recreation you can access South Mountains Gamelands which is adjacent to the property. You can also drive to South Mountains State Park which is only 15 minutes away. Lake James State Park is 35 minutes away and offers great recreation potent entail as well as Linville Gorge which is 45-60 minutes away.
About the listing
We offer two connected 8x16' tiers with center posts for hanging a tarp or setting up tents. You can see in our photos how a tent would fit on the platforms, there is plenty of space and truly amazing views right from your tent door. The site features a fire pit and an outhouse.

Your campsite includes a wooden tent platform (~12’ x 24’) with steps, a fire pit and grilling area, four chairs, a round dining table, a water hose, and four electrical outlets. A newly built outhouse is just steps away.

My property consists of a ridge running east to west with the access road running along the south border. the land slopes up to the ridge for about 300 feet, and then down to the river for about 800 feet. The south side of the ridge has a small pond close to the road. The rest is pasture, and an orchard and small vineyard. The north side of the ridge is old growth timber, and shady and cool. The two cabins are along the river. One is perched on a ridge over looking the river and the other is right on the river. The swimming hole is 30 feet from the lower cabin. There is room for a couple campsites along the river also. The south side of the ridge was a cotton farm decades ago, but was covered in timber when I bought it 12 years ago. The north side has been in timber for the known history of the property.

Exceeded our expectations! Such a nice place to experience nature and solitude. We had our 8 year old son and two dogs and the place was the perfect size for all of us. We enjoyed a rinse off with the outdoor shower, roasted marshmallows, hiked to the waterfall and just enjoyed each other. Highly recommended and would love to come back and stay a little longer.

Camping here is very private, and relatively quiet. Amenities were also nice. Bathroom was supplied will all the necessities, and the solar lights were nice and cozy. Everything about the site was as described.
The creek trail is an easy short ‘hike’. Just be careful with the pine needles, as they’re a bit slippery, and watch for little tree stumps. We saw some minnows, tadpoles, a toad, and a small snake. (Dekays brown snake, harmless!) According to my Garmin, our whole walk including walking to, down the creek, and back to camp, was about 1.25 miles. We did walk quite a far ways down the creek looking for wildlife though.
Now., sound wise. There’s about 5-10 dogs that started barking at around 4am and kept barking for about 45m. They were loud enough to wake up me and my partner, who is a pretty heavy sleeper. Somebody nearby started practicing their aim at 8am, and continued for over an hour. And there’s some persistent, but distant, road noise. During the day, it was very quiet.
Overall, I think this is about as private and peaceful as you’re going to find within an hour of Asheville. We were looking for something nearby so we could get to camp after work on Friday, and this fit the bill perfectly.

We loved camping here! We’re hoping we can come back soon! The site was level and clean. Jenny was an amazing host that was very generous. All the dogs at the campground were our kids favorite part! The proximity to the river was perfect for our kids where it was a short walk away to access to the river but not immediate so we didn’t have to worry about water safety with the little ones. The river itself is gorgeous. Hookups were well maintained. Definitely recommend.

We stayed at the Gnomes Yome and had a great time. The view off the road on the way into camp is worth stopping to take in. The yurt was well appointed and comfortable. The waterfall is worth checking out and just a short hike away. Love what Evan & Co. has created here and would definitely come back!

The new bath house is the highest quality and comfort (also I didn’t plan on that even being there) clean, well planned and very private spaces. Blaire our host was responsive, helpful and on point. This place is like it was created from my dreams. Somehow I was the only camper. But I had so much fun. The views are incredible, the outdoor shower is delightful. When it gets dark it gets DARK. The hike to the overlook is well worth it. This place gave me a much needed dose of nature. THANK YOU A+++++

We enjoyed our stay at Bear’s Woods at Camp Creek. The site was easy to find, we had enough room for two large tents, and our dogs especially loved the creek.
As described, the site does include a bathroom with a portable camping toilet. Just be aware that this is simply a bucket that you have to empty out yourself, but liner bags are provided to carry out solid waste.
We also loved the solar-powered string lights that surround the main camping area. We definitely felt like we had the area all to ourselves!

We loved this spot. Truly camping, surrounded by wilderness and complete privacy. The road is def rugged but it made it that much more of an adventure. I have 2wd CR-V that did just fine, not sure a low clearance car would be too great. Directions were clear and the spot was perfect!

The view is amazing! Has all the basics that are needed plus more. Toilet, power, and water on site which is always great. Property is in great condition. Also got to greet the farm cat on the day we left, such a sweetheart. I didn't get service until I got to the site but 5g was available. Me and my buddy had a great time!

Wonderful private lot. This site had everything I needed for a quick weekend getaway. I enjoyed the feeling of being remote without actually being too far away from others. The trail in the woods feels so magical and the creek is a perfect spot for reading and watching the plethora of butterflies that seem to live there. Fantastic fire pit and wood available. I will definitely be back ☺️
