We are in our winter season offering only one campsite until March 2025 “Site 2 Knoll”~ come enjoy the river ranch all to yourselves! If you have questions about this PLEASE message me prior to booking. Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too! All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites. Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. Winding Stair Campground

17 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents15 acres · Franklin, NC
Winding Stair Campground sits at an elevation of 3,380 feet, next to the headwaters of the Nantahala River and is surrounded by national forest and undeveloped private land trusts. The stunning mountain views in a remote tucked-away setting make our farm a perfect getaway! Just a 15-minute scenic drive from Franklin in North Carolina, easily accessible off Hwy 64, our campground offers a chance to enjoy nature without being far away from the public amenities of a small but well-equipped town. A few features about our property: - Working farm: Campers are welcome to meet our Icelandic sheep and take a self-guided tour of our farm, along designated pathways. - Security: The campground and farm are fenced in on three sides with the river being the fourth boundary. Personal code to the entrance gate will be given at check in. - Bath House: The restored bathhouse is split into boys’ and girls’ sides. Each side has 2 private showers, 4 flushing toilets, sinks, hot water, and gas heat. - Community Pavilion: The Pavilion is a large 40x30 ft. open sided structure overlooking the Nantahala River. It has an ample fireplace, running water sink, counter space, couches, and table with benches. - Pack Room: Where the adventure begins! A cozy hub where all guests check-in, get local information, view maps, and grab some local seasonal groceries. Also available to all campers are washing sinks with hot water, toaster oven and microwave. - Communication: Or rather, lack thereof! There's no cell service on the property so it's a great time to get away from it all. There is limited Wi-Fi available near the Pack Room and an emergency landline available. - Charging: Traveling in an electric vehicle? Recharge for free at our dedicated EV 50amp outlet when you stay at any of our sites. First come, first served. Want to know more about the history of the property? Twin Valley Horse Ranch

5 sites · Lodging100 acres · Walland, TN
My late husband and myself bought the property in 1983 and it was all just overgrown land!We worked, cleared, built horse shelters/barns, cabins, cut trails, built the outdoor chapel for our wedding and of course fenced it all in for the horses! Started sharing with guests in 1993, so we have met so many amazing folks from all over the world!  Pass thru our gate into another world and leave all your worries and tensions behind. We are all about getting back to what is real -- nature, animals/horses and each other. Complete privacy! There are many mountain trails leaving right from our property! Lots to explore. You can even hike to the outdoor chapel with the pretty view of the Chilhowee Mountain range.  It is a short hike to the barn area for those who want to spend time rubbing the pot belly pigs' tummy, walk the mini horses, groom the love bug~Junebug (donkey), pet horses, cuddle with bunnies and feed chickens!  Every morning and night we set a time for all those who want to become involved with the care/feeding of petting animals and horses!

Please be mindful. *The staircase is 21” wide steps, with a 300lb weight capacity* The bathroom is located on the main floor, while the bed is in the loft. If you prefer not to use the spiral staircase, the daybed in the living room also opens into a king-sized bed. *The daybed is designed more for convenience than comfort; if you are sensitive to mattresses, the daybed may not be suitable. - Please ensure all guests are accounted for within your reservation. We DO NOT allow anyone that is not accounted for onto the property, even if they do not plan to stay the night. Unannounced guests will result in a $100 per guest, per night, charge to your account AND you will need to vacate immediately. - The cabin is on well-water, which can be a milky white color at times due to dissolved air and minerals. It is safe to drink, however if you are sensitive to hard water, we recommend bringing bottled water. - This cabin is on a septic system; it cannot handle food scraps, wipes, nor toiletries. There is a basket in the kitchen sink drain to stop food from going down; empty this basket into the trash as needed and at the end of your stay. Toilets can only handle septic-safe toilet paper. Do not flush hygiene products, wipes, nor excessive tissue, EVEN ONES MARKED AS FLUSHABLE, as this will cause a blockage and render all plumbing unusable. - ***All trash must be BAGGED and TIED in kitchen-sized 13 gallon bags, then placed in the outdoor trash bins. The trash company does not have a dump truck; they pick up each bag individually. Please be mindful of this. Dog poop bags must be enclosed in trash bags as well*** - Pets require an $80 additional cleaning fee; there is a $180 fee for bringing an unannounced pet. Ensure all pet waste is picked up. We have seen bobcats and bears, please be mindful of your pets. - We are vape & 420 friendly, however tobacco products are permitted OUTDOORS ONLY. - Outdoor cushions are located in the storage bench under the outdoor tv. In order to preserve them, please place cushions back into the storage bench when not in use. - Magnetic darts, cornhole bean bags, and board games are located inside of the coffee table and outdoor bench. - The cabin has a Take One, Leave One library; feel free to bring a book you’re finished reading and trade out for one of ours. Of course, this means there may be all sorts of books on our shelves, which may not represent the opinions or values of your host. If you see something you find offensive or inappropriate, please tuck it away and let us know. - You may eat and play on the whiskey barrel arcade game, however do not move, lean on, or hit the glass top. - If you are sensitive to political signs/flags (US, Confederate, or otherwise), this may not be the right listing for you. Although we do not post affiliations, some surrounding homes do. - Because this is a rural area, we recommend turning off any lights that are not directly in use, as bugs are very prevalent and attracted to light, especially at night. **If you are sensitive to insects (indoor and outdoor), this listing may not be the right fit.** - There is community area access, however it is not always maintained. For boating especially, we recommend the nearest Boat Launch at 499 Choestoea Rd, Westminster, SC, where there are docks, a public launch, and a sandy beach. - The inflatable hot tub can reach temperatures up to 104°F. Due to the nature of inflatable hot tubs, it will lose about 5°F per hour that the lid is off; weather conditions and use of the jets may expedite this cooling. Unlike a traditional hot tub, there are no seats inside. There are flower-shaped sponges in the hot tub, which help keep the water clean. **If you prefer to take these out while in the water, they must be placed back in when you exit. DO NOT throw these over the railing.** After use, please toss 2 sanitizer shock tablets into the water (located above the stove). There will be a video on hot tub operation in your check in directions.

Trout Creek Campgrounds

22 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents7 acres · Tuckasegee, NC
When you think about camping, does your mind automatically think of a tent and a fire? Or is it more of an RV in a campground? Do you have arguments of whether or not your way of “sleeping outside” is actually camping? Well, opinions of all kinds obviously exist, but it’s true: camping exists in many forms. So whether you’re a newbie to camping and you don’t know where to start, or you’re a seasoned pro looking for inspiration, here are some kinds of camping to get you started on your next getaway. To backcountry camp, you generally have to go somewhere inaccessible from roads. It can be a mile away from the trailhead or somewhere in the middle of a mountain range during a weeklong trek. The point is you’re away from civilization. You pack in what you can carry, are never without a Swiss Army Knife, and (hopefully) pack out all of your waste and leave everything looking as good (or better) than when you came. ALL BOOKINGS ARE AUTOMATICALLY OFF-CREEK. UPGRADES ARE AVAILABLE DEPENDANT ON AVAILABILITY. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE HOWEVER ALL PAYMENTS ARE NONREFUNDABLE.

The Rowdy Bear Off-Grid Glamping

1 site · Lodging3 acres · Bryson City, NC
Fall in love with our secluded Off-Grid Cabin located in the Great Smoky Mountains. Wake up to the sounds of a babbling creek and beautiful mountain views, hike the Road to Nowhere, kayak the Little Tennesee River, cook hot dogs over an open fire, and then open the glass panel garage door and fall asleep under the most beautiful sky you will ever see. Rowdy Bear Highlights: • 12ft glass panel door that opens the cabin to nature • Queen Tempurpedic bed • Rain Captured Shower • Fire Pit The Space: The Rowdy Bear is an Off-Grid Cabin that is situated in the Great Smoky Mountains with easy access to both Bryson City and Franklin. The cabin itself was built using rough sawn wood acquired from a local sawmill. Many of the items used in the cabin came from local shops or antique stores. There is a 2000-watt Solar Generator in the cabin that can be used for lights, charging cell phones, and running the pump for the shower. The Solar Panels are enough to charge the Generator to 100% each day. Rainwater is used for showers. The gutter system on the cabin is used to catch rainwater. The downspout runs into a "First Flush Diverter", which allows any dust, dirt, or anything else that might land on the roof between the rainstorms to be diverted away from the water storage tank. The clean rainwater then fills the water storage tank. Be aware that Rainwater is fine for showers, but is not meant for drinking. Propane is connected to a space heater and the shower. The space heater is 17,000 BTUs, which is plenty for colder nights. The shower has an at-source water heater and can heat the water up to 120 degrees, which is more than enough for a hot shower. A porta potty is provided for bathroom purposes and is cleaned and restocked every Thursday. Pets are allowed! The following items are provided: 1. Linens 2. Towels 3. Coffee, Coffee Pot, and Coffee Cups 4. Body Wash 5. Shampoo 6. Board Games 7. Lanterns 8. Two Person Table and Chairs 9. Two Rocking Chairs 10. four Adirondack Chairs for the Firepit 11. Firepit 12. Outdoor table for food and drinks 13. Propane Torch for lighting fires Guest access The Rowdy Bear is situated on 2.5 acres of land. There is a large section cleared off where the cabin is located. There is plenty of room for the fire pit, vehicles, animals, and any outdoor games you might want to bring (cornhole). Both Bryson City and Franklin are fairly close to the cabin. Bryson City is approximately 20 minutes away, while Franklin is approximately 30 minutes away. Both towns offer great little downtown areas that have shopping and restaurants. Don't be afraid to try the food trucks, they have some of the best food. Bryson City has many trails for hiking such as the Road to nowhere, Noland Divide Trail, Three Waterfalls Loop (FYI: There are three waterfalls on this trail), and Deep Creek Waterfall Loop. The fishing in Bryson City is also great and the guided trips are very reasonably priced. I would suggest going in the morning and doing a float trip. Franklin is bigger and a little more spread out than Bryson city, but there are a lot of neat little stores and restaurants. I personally like going to the Currahee Brewing Company. Currahee is right on the river and is set up to host live bands and it gets pretty lively in the late afternoons and evenings on the weekends. Other things to note One of the things you would want to bring is a 1 lb propane bottle for the Torch that is provided. Using the torch to start a fire is much easier than kindling. The solar generator has enough power to run the small coffee pot if you don't want to use the percolator. The generator also has enough power to run hair dryers. The main thing you want to keep in mind is anything that uses a heating element will drain the battery quickly. Lanterns are provided If needed. Overall, you should be good to go, but it is something to keep in mind.

Reaching average highs over 80°F in the summer months and average lows dropping to the 40s in the shoulder months, campers should plan ahead to enjoy some of the area’s water activities comfortably. The winter months bring highs around 50°F and drop below freezing overnight, so cold weather camping experience or cabin rentals are recommended this time of year.
