We have owned this property since 2005. The pond is a favorite place of ours and we would love to share it with you!! We live just up the mountain are here for you via text if you need anything at all during your stay with us. The pond is in the middle of about a 4 acre area that is totally forested & makes a great place to get away from the madness of life & get into nature. Our street ends in a cul-de-sac, minimizing traffic in the area, but the spot is right along a street. You will be able to see & hear cars going by the site. On the other hand, it is also right along a deer path & just this morning I saw 2 does & a baby walking through the site. There is a resident hawk & a gaggle of turkeys that live in the area in addition to pileated woodpeckers & all sorts of other birds. Come check it out and please let us know if you have any questions. Learn more about this land: We would love to have you at the Pond at Dogwood Acres. Our pond is just a little pond, but it is full of life and makes for a cozy little campsite. You will be the only ones camping here. There is a long parking spot suitable for cars/SUVs/trucks and even a trailer or pop up.  There are hiking trails leading into the woods at the right side of the end of the drive. Feel free to enjoy them. We are surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest and here in Towns County we are 80% National Forest. Lake Chatuge is close by (less than 10 minutes) in Hiawassee has 132 miles of shoreline. The Appalachian Trail weaves all through the area and you can get to numerous access points for the AT within about 30 minutes. There are a many waterfalls throughout our area within about a 30 minute drive as well. The closest is Cupid Falls just behind Young Harris College. Fire's Creek in Hayesville is a favorite spot. Otherwise you can head towards Vogel State Park and find many more.  Head north on state road 66 heading out of Young Harris towards Warne, North Carolina. Travel almost 4 miles passing 339 and then make a right on Brasstown Lane. If you see mile marker 4 or get to Warne, you passed it. Once you turn onto Brasstown Lane it will be on the right side. Coming from North Carolina head south on 66 out of Warne and make a left onto Brasstown Lane. We are about 1 mile south of the North Carolina state line. We are somewhat in the middle of Blairsville (GA), Hiawassee (GA) and Hayeville (NC).  Not far from us is the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC and just a bit further is Murphy, NC.  34'58'45.1"N 83'52'49.7"W On a larger scale, we are right in the middle of and about 2 hours from Atlanta, Asheville and Chattanooga. Any questions? Let us know!  Note- this campsite is on a residential street. You may collect and use any fallen wood on the property. There is a watering can by the fire pit, please make sure fire it out when you leave. 11/10 ! absolutely loved this quaint spot. we saw a few deer and a wild turkey during our short stay. the little library out front was such a highlight and made my partner and i feel so welcomed. we definitely want to come back again. it was my partner’s first time camping and she enjoyed herself so much. we also visited vogel state park which was a 30 min drive and worth it. highly recommend. thank you megan :)

What a safe sweet oasis to camp and land after long hiking days. The space is described perfectly in host description. We loved seeing the turkey and deer families stroll through, found plenty of deadfall firewood, and slept like a dream next to the sweetest little pond. Will stay again! Also the little library was amazing and thoughtful!

This is a nice little private nook with everything you need to just get away. The pond, the trees, the animals, but it's tucked into a very very quiet little neighborhood, so I felt very safe. Megan was a great host: welcoming, kind, and generous.

Great little spot for tent or car camping! Very easy to find and access. Yes, you are near a residential street and can hear cars off in the distance at times. However, I still found it to be relaxing and quite peaceful. Dense trees and being tucked back away from the road make it so you can barely see any nearby houses. The area is almost completely shaded, so no sunglasses were required! Lots of kindling to be found and a nice fire pit. Got to hear lots of birds and the pond has frogs! The site is well maintained, clean, and I felt very safe as a solo female.

Beautiful little spot with a very picturesque pond! We had our own little nook of paradise. We had a fun hike at Blood Mountain, cooked over the fire and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors together with some deer visitors here and there.

Lovely host with great communication. Charming spot to get away to and recharge 💕 Already looking forward to visiting again in the spring and summer. The host has solar lights circling the pond which are a nice touch at night and enable a smooth return after dark. The tiny library was a nice touch as well.

What a perfect mountain spot to tent camp! The tent pad was cleared and covered by shade.The sounds of the frogs and crickets lulled us to sleep at night. We appreciated the added touch of pride pins in the little library. Would definitely stay again!

Megan was the best host ever! This quiet pond was excellent for the nature lover and the frogs sang majority of the night so we slept hard! Our reservation was a lil delayed with the previous campers but Megan made sure they were packed up in time for us☺️

This place was great! Very peaceful cute pond. We got there at dark, would recommend arriving earlier to back in so you can see the pond from the sliding door of the van. Clean and private. Definitely would stay again.

The Pond at Dogwood Acres
We ended up staying here because the national forest campground we usually go to was full. Although you are in a neighborhood, the site is very private and serene (in spring at least). Because of the trees you are only barely able to see the lights from a house across the street. It was definitely more private than a campground would be. We were worried about mosquitos due to the pond, however there were hardly any bugs and we had no problems with them! I think this must be because of the frogs and fish in the pond. The sounds of the frogs at night were our only issue. I think this is maybe a problem that would only occur in spring, but my husband could not sleep because of the frog mating calls which last throughout the night. I was able to sleep though, so it probably just depends on you. I also think outside mating season this probably isn’t an issue. We would come back, just maybe later in the Summer or the Fall! It was very relaxing and clean.

Safe, easy place to car camp
The Pond at Dogwood Acres
This is a cute spot. The reason I have mixed feelings is because the description doesn’t describe that it is just across the street from houses. That’s awesome if you’re someone new to camping/camping solo or if you’re just looking for a safe place to camp/sleep with easy access but I was a bit thrown off by it. The host was responsive and very kind leaving a printed a very detailed list of everything nearby and S’mores! I would stay there again if that is the kind of spot I was looking for. The amphitheater and little circuit of trails is cool. Also consider mosquitos with the pond if you’re there in the summer. For the host, if you had addressed those things in the description and I had decided to stay there I’d 100% recommend! Thank you for your hospitality.

Little pop-up on a great little sit
The Pond at Dogwood Acres
This was a great place to stay with me and my family for a mountain bike trip to the woods. The little strip of land was narrow but had a cute fireplace and a great host. The pond is nice the kids got to play around it and a nice little walking trail connected the pond to the campsite.

The Pond at Dogwood Acres
We had a great time this weekend in early November. When we pulled up Megan had gifted us a s’mores pack and a handmade letter; a wonderful gesture. The brass town road comes up quickly so be on alert. Back into the gravel road to your campsite as it will be easier for you to navigate. The trails connected to the site were nice and clear for my dog to play. You are off a road that has low travel at night that connects to another road that gets traffic at night, so medium sound. I slept great with no distractions other than the dog barking in the area. The star show at night and colorful trees made the trip worthwhile although we had a full day planned with many nature finds all around us. The birds sing in the morning and since check out was 12 we didn’t feel rushed when we woke up. The dock was quaint, my dog loved it. My husband approves this spot so I feel we may come back to stay. Thank you Megan for your excellent set up and hospitality.

Perfect Fall Getaway
The Pond at Dogwood Acres
Our visit was perfect for an overnight getaway without having to deal with the people, noise, and RVs of a campground. It was close to the road as described in the listing, but it was a quiet road with very few cars and with the car blocking the drive, I hardly noticed it. Megan left a super sweet note letting us know about local attractions and and necessities we might need. There was enough room to ramble around in the woods a bit and we still got to hear the last of the season's frogs. The solar lights made the place cozy after dark. Plus it's super close to John C Campbell, Vogel, Unicoi, Smithgall Woods, Desoto, etc. You could easily use it as a base for lots of quick day hike trips in the mountains.

Little Escape From the College Life
The Pond at Dogwood Acres
Great little site that provided a nice space for my friends and I. Be aware that the site is right off of a road so cars can be seen driving by or neighbors. This did not bother us at all though! Megan was super nice and made sure we were okay :) bugs were not an issue and a fire pit is provided. The area was so cute especially with fall being here. The leaves were gorgeous!
