3 nights at Wanderlust Woods

I loved tent camping, the host was very accomodabile and responsive. The location was just perfect, right outside of the Great Smokey Mountains! Very close to Gatlinburg! Me and my friends had a very good time, in spite of the light chilly weather, We had a cozy fire going!

2 nights at Cherokee Waterfall Campground

Won't be long until this is a a top HipCamp in North Carolina. I've done 8-10 mile hikes where the pinnacle was not as rewarding as Cherokee Waterfall campground. Richard is a superb host: thorough and communicative yet left us our space on arrival, I got the feeling he understands why folks choose this style of camping... solitude and peace in nature! Plus he delivered dry firewood for a fair price. Full hook-ups on a level site / flushing toilet and hot shower /fire pit / privacy with a locked gate at the entrance. We'll be back!

Weekend Trip to Gateway to the Smokies

It was a neat expierence. Super Easy access to the place and was easy to find. Dollar general and a gas station was a super short walk away. The only downside was being so close to the main hwy, but I knew beforehand it would be loud. Michael is very responsive answered any questions I had. I was able to fit 2, 3 person tents and 1, 2 person tent inside the square. With room for another to fit.

Great place! Would recommend this place to anyone with dogs. Mine went in and out of the river all weekend, not worried about other people or them wandering too far. He was kind and helped find local hikes, brought fresh apples and cabbage. Will be back 100%

Weekend Trip to Mountain Paradise

We went out to Creekside Paradise in late March when it was overcast and there was a burn ban. Even with these conditions the site was lovely! The creek is beautiful and the site is well maintained. Thankful to be able to get out to a nice site after the storm. Would definitely recommend for the warmer months.

I loved my stay at this site Michael was very accommidating and attentive , he is very knowledgeable in the area as far as things to do . He told me about The Smokie Mountain Railroad a 4 and half hour ride through the mountains it was amazing it capped off a great week . Overall it was a great experience.

I had the opportunity to stay at this Hipcamp location for three nights! The directions to get there were perfect and appreciated! The site is exactly, if not better, than described! The host’s dog is the best! The sunsets were indescribable and the stars were like nothing I’ve ever seen! It is so dark! Thank you for sharing your beautiful land with me! I am hoping to be back!

Neat camping spot! Sweet solitude! Spectacular creek that would be nice in summer for a dip. It is roughly a 30 min drive to Maggie Valley (the town). You'll definately need a vehicle with clearance and if there is rain/snow you'd need 4 wheel drive.

We are located in beautiful Great Smoky Mountains. This is a family oriented resort and lot will accommodate a Motorhome or Hard body camper up to 45 feet long. Other close attractions are several golf course, gift shops and restaurants. Outdoor Resorts at Gatlinburg is a great vacation spot where you can experience many memories with your family.

We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin. When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there. Please read the entire listing because I have updated this page and renovated the property! Pull down a paved road and get out of your car and sit down at a picnic table in front of a private waterfall! This site has a pull through, full hookup spot with 30amp for campers but tents are always welcome or a combination of the two. I've had a 33' camper, popup camper and 6 tents at this campsite all at the same time so there plenty of room for your family and friends! We're 2.5 miles from the Cherokee Casino and 3.5 miles from down town Cherokee If you're tired of crowded campgrounds then you'll love the privacy this campground offers. This is now a two site campground with each site being around 100' away from the other site with trees and vegetation growing in between, you more or less cant see on site from the other from May until November. There is a orange cone that marks the border of the two sites. One set of campers will not be allowed on the other campers campsite, if this happens you will be evicted with no refund. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm. There is a house and a church on the same road so please drive slowly. No shooting firearms, (although you may hear people shooting firearms because you will be camping in the mountains) but your more than welcome to bring your firearms. Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. No fireworks. No making trails or collecting firewood (This is not because I want to sell you firewood, its because I want to have the property remain as pristine as possible) Do not cut down trees alive or dead If you move picnic tables please move them back Dogs are permitted but contact before you book the site to confirm if your dog will be a good fit. If you know your dog barks constantly of other people while camping then it will not be a good fit. I charge for dogs the same as I do for extra guests There is a small Church around 200 yards from the campground. They hold services every Wednesday and Sunday. They generally start around 5pm and it lasts around a hour. If your into that they would love to have you come down. The EBCI opened a dispensary around 3 miles from the campground. This site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility. Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French Broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall into an open-air cabana with a charming deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11-foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls, provides a warm glow in a rainforest environment. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed at night. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Amenities include a bathroom located a short walk away at the main building as well as an open-air on-demand shower located off the bathroom on a deck overlooking the French Broad River. Morning coffee and tea is available at The Tea Hut located just a hop, skip, and jump from the treehouse. NOTE: The Duckpond Pottery is a working studio pottery and gallery that is open to the public. It is also home to occasional open-air house concerts on the deck at the pottery. The host generally blocks concert dates, however, it is worth double-checking with the host that there will not be a concert if you desire a quieter experience.

Wildcat Outpost

Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

This RV site is on our property where we first lived in a mobile home. We love camping and thought what a great place for a quite retreat. So we made the site into a full hook up RV camp site. Beautiful location with a view of Table Rock located in the Historic Oolenoy Valley. Our property is located in Northern Pickens Co. of South Carolina. Plenty of trails, boating, biking in the area or just sit under your awning and enjoy the wildlife. Important please read! There is not evening shade in July and August, However, there are shady spots very close to the camp site that you can enjoy. Where your camper sits the Sun goes down at the front of the camper. It is typically not an issue until mid-July and August. If you need additional details, please contact me. There are two homes near the camp site. The one behind the site is our home. Just me and my wife, currently no pets. The other home is a small white farmhouse that I currently rent to close friends. Chris and his wife and two well behaved kids. The kind of neighbors' people dream of! In five years of renting this site I have only had one couple that felt uncomfortable with the homes on our driveway. Motivation behind the creation of Smoky Mountain Sky Camp is to share with the public an alternative, nature-based vacation inspired by conservation with minimal impact. The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ¾ mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails. Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid. Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided. The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. All bath towels/washcloths, plus shampoo/wash are provided in each treehouse bathroom. You can dine al fresco in the trees! The kitchenette boasts wide concrete countertop table dining with four stools, two-burner propane cooktop, potable water and drain sink, and separate propane grill. Provided cookware includes pots, pans, cooking/grill tools and utensils, cutting board and knife. There are complete place settings for 4 glampers, plus coffee percolator and mugs (bring ground coffee.) There is no refrigerator, bring your own cooler and ice. Unique, spectacular views of nature are seen from each treehouse. Snowbird Mountain to North, Mt Sterling to East, Chestnut Mountain to West and Mt Cammerer to South. NEW for 2025: Short loop hiking trails onsite directly from each treehouse. Maps and directions provided inside the House Manual within each treehouse.
