Weekend Trip to Lake Lookout Campground

We loved camping at Lake Lookout Campground. The owners were very nice and it was a quiet retreat for the weekend. We set up tubes and were able to fish right next to our campsite!

Me and the family loved camping here. Fairly large campsites with fire rings and picnic tables. Access to fresh water and showers. Toilets are porta John’s. I would recommend to anyone looking to just get away and relax. Not a lot to do for kids but otherwise it’s great!

Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills

We had a great time! Host was accommodating and we arrived a bit early and as the unit was already clean, they allowed us to set up a bit early before kayaking at lake James! The glamping Yurt/ MTG2 was so cute! Comfy bed! There is not regular power source, but solar that operates a fan, lights, and a usb outlet (not standard plug). The social area with hammocks and tables was lovely to overlook the Mountain View! The highlight was definitely the spa purchase! Soaking tub with sauna! The showers had hot water (was outside so bring a robe!) and portajohns for restroom facilities. Water is available at a central location, but not at each individual campsite (one large jug provided next to fire pit). Overall a fabulous glamping experience!

Weekend Trip to Tellurian Family Campground

TFC is a great spot! Jud was very welcoming and accommodating and the views from the top are next level. We had visited South Mountains State Park a few times previously and it's great considering how close it is to the Charlotte area. But TFC has even better views of the South Mountains and a pretty awesome river to play in. 30 min from several foothills towns worth exploring. Very easy camper hookup, nice flat spots, and a great facility with bathrooms and some extra seating for the great views. Thanks, Jud and family!

Weekend Trip to Tellurian Family Campground

We spent 2 nights at Site 5 and had a great experience! From the start, Jud stopped by to ensure we got settled in and made sure we didn’t have any questions. His hospitality during the entire stay exceeded anywhere I’ve been. There is a done of stuff to do, e.g. explore/hike, fish, kayak. The views when you wake up in the morning are great and the light pollution is non existent.

My friends and I all had a great time staying at campsite 6! There was plenty of space for us to spread out the 3 tents we brought and have room for our vehicles as well. I was easily able to drive up to the campsite in my smaller car. The portapotty was only a short walk from the campsite. Having running water not directly at the campsite but being able to refill our water jugs was very helpful. Our group also booked thes spa which was a great daytime activity. Even with 7 of us we all had fun. The tiki torch rental was also a great add on and a fun surprise for the others in my group. The hikes to the nearby overlook and creek were short but well worth. We hope to return to campsite 6 in years to come!

Great place with sturdy and roomy yurt. Great views of the hills, large sites and raised camping platform. Great little get away spot with sites large enough for privacy.

Being on the water is excellent. Understood that they are still cleaning up from the flood last year, missing a door on the women's stall would have been tough if it was busier. Definitely will stay there again.

Weekend Trip to Rose Creek Retreat

On of the nicest places we have been, very secluded and private. Love the sound of the stream. It was nice letting our dogs be able to run around with us off the leash. Definitely recommend it and we will definitely be back.

I loved the camping spot, view, hiking overlook trail ans spa! Had an amazing time! Needed a quick reset to be in nature without much stress or Hassel and this did the trick! The owner is super sweet! This is my second time staying here!

1 night at Neal Creek Camping Sites

Now we only stayed here for 1 night but this was definitely one of our favorites we have stayed at. There are two campsites here on the creek, but they are far enough away from each other that it is fine. Nice fire pit, picnic table, and swing for you to have a good time around.

Weekend Trip to Linville Adventure Pasture (LAP)

This site was private yet conveniently located. We were able to access the river, the lake and beautiful trails for hiking. There is a sink with running water that really helped us while we were "boone docking". The host was so great and gave us tips on some awesome hikes and a brewery!

From the public observation area, to the short steep hike to another overlook. From the extremely warm showers and to the absolute wonderfulness of the spa. Clean portajohns and multiple trash cans. This campground offers so much in relaxation. William is very kind and was able to answer any questions quickly, even the dumber ones we had while putting together what was what at our yurt location. We rented MTG 5. In walking the grounds, we would have selected 1, 3,4, 2 and then 5 in that order. 1 gives you the very best view but you are near the common area which can get very populated at sunset. That was actually kind of cool to have the whole village come together to stand in awe. 5 was ok but it was slanted more than any other site so we were unable to play with many things we brought for entertainment. It was a great weekend though. Perfect weather. There are whippoorwills on the property and if you have not experienced them, they can be a challenge as they sing their song with some fervor and consistency. But we went and bought ear plugs which totally did the trick. Google tells me those birds will sing until July. So be prepared if you are a light sleeper. But the yurts were comfortable and sleep was easy The spa is 100% worth renting. You are isolated and while on the platform you experience yet another wonderful view. The cedar smell of the sauna really lifted my spirits. The warmth of the tub. The heater. The shower. Everything was thought about. 10/10 for the spa.

The property consists of 93 acres and 2780 feet (1⁄2 mile) of river frontage on the First Broad River. The First Broad River offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. Smallmouth and freshwater sunfishing is incredible on this stretch of the river and there are also opportunities for mountain river catfish. Tellurian’s scenic location offers stunning vista views of the surrounding countryside, sprawling views of the South Mountain and Cherry Mountain ranges, as well as long range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The sunsets are amazing and the star lit skies are uninhibited by city lights. One of the few lights that can be seen at night lights up a steeple silhouetted against the mountain ridges. It’s truly a peaceful site. Tellurian is centrally located between Charlotte NC, Asheville NC, and Spartanburg SC in the small town of Casar, NC. We have three children – Emma Grace and Baxter (twins) and Elena Jo. As a family, we enjoy canoeing, kayaking and camping. We live 9 miles from Tellurian on a family farm. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Naming our campground proved to be one of the most challenging tasks throughout the process of developing it. After many ideas and brainstorming sessions as a family, we decided to go with Tellurian. Waterfall camping close to CLT

My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Glamping tents and additional camping tents are available through a local company. Look in the pictures for the tent with red, white, and blue balloons. Message me for details. Close to US National Whitewater Center (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking), Kings Mountain National Military Park (Horseback riding and history), Crowders Mountain (Hiking), 3 miles off of I-85 and US-321 for people passing through.

We currently have waterfront RV and tent sites. 30 amp electric and water hookups. There is a dump station on site also, no sewer hookups due to proximity to the water. Boat ramp access on site included with rental. Extra parking area for boat trailers. Bath house. Community lake front area with shoreline access, volleyball and horseshoe pits for all campers. A short drive to River Bend Park for Hiking and biking trails.

Neal Creek Primitive camping by the creek is located on private property. The two large campsites are approximately 300 feet apart and are located right beside the running creek. Plenty of shaded area's. We have a 6-8 person tent available to rent as well! Learn more about this land: We are only 1/2 a mile from the Interstate 85. So bring your tents, campers or your small RV and come and setup down by the babbling creek. If you don't have or own a tent, we have a large 6-8 person tent available for a small rental fee too. Build a nice fire in the fire pit. The firewood and kindling is provided. The campsites are semi-wooded areas with plenty of shade. They are very large private, peaceful and quiet sites. View the stars at night, play in the creek during the day or if you are into biking or hiking, go to the Overmountain Victory trail located about 15 minutes away and enjoy the 6.7 mile loop around Lake Whelchel right off I-85.
