The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks.
Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations.
Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us.
*Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. The beach is bigger in winter, smaller in summer. These changes make the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing.

Gator Creek, a secluded natural getaway located near Alligator River on Little Alligator Creek. This is a quiet property surrounded by wetlands and state hunting preserves-perfect for campers who love true wilderness.
Fishing is available all around the area ,and the creek can be reached with a short walk through the woods or by going down the road. There is no clear-cut trail, as I keep the land as natural as possible. A public boat ramp is within walking distance.

The sunsets are incredible. And when the full moon is over the pond it is an amazing sight. You can relax here by the pond or venture out to explore historic down town New Bern ,or head the the beach located in Morehead, Swansboro, and the surrounding areas. Check the local Restaurants and the local shops as well. Throughout the year we are surrounded by many different festivals as well.
You can listen to the crickets and the birds chirping, and watch the squirrel as they jump and run from tree to tree.we are close to the beaches and are in close proximity of the national Forrest as well. And there are quite a few golf courses near to us as well.

a nicely groomed orchard with limited available RV hookups. The property sits on a small peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. The creeks around us contain small reds, trout, mullet, gar, and various other species. if you have a kayak, it's a short paddle to where you will catch larger trout and reds.
We can accommodate up to RVs up to 55' in length. Tow vehicles can be detached and parked separately. Sites have 50A power and water, sewer is by dump. If you stay a week or longer we will empty your tanks with our mobile tank once per week for free. If you stay less than a week but want our service it's $20
All sites include picnic tables and fire pits, and tent campers are welcome to use RV sites. WIFI is pretty fast we have gigabit fiber from Spectrum and it's free for our guests.
We have very little light pollution, stargazing is excellent. Small solar torches provide a soft glow at night, but we recommend bringing a flashlight for walking around after dark.
Our bathhouse includes toilets and sinks. Heated showers are outdoors next to bathhouse and are very nice, nestled into some trees.
We are a 12-minute drive from Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina — a charming, friendly town of just 999 residents. Despite its small size, Oriental hosts many local events throughout the year. About 15 minutes in the other direction, you’ll find larger stores like Walmart, as well as health services, laundromats, car washes, and more.
Pet-friendly — we have dogs ourselves — Pets are allowed to roam the property, aggressive dogs should be leashed at all times.

We always have the absolute best time here. At this point, coming back feels less like a camping trip and more like returning to our designated reset button. 😂
It was hot this time, so we did what any reasonable adults would do: inflated the dock, grabbed the beverages, got in the water, and basically refused to leave.
Then a rainstorm rolled through.
Did we get out?
Absolutely not.
We were already wet. The sky was just contributing. 😂🌧️🍹
So there we stayed, floating around in the rain like this was completely normal behavior and honestly having the best time.
That’s what we love about this place. We show up, unplug, laugh a lot, spend way too much time in the water, and somehow leave feeling completely refreshed.
Another perfect trip in the books. Already counting down until we can come back. 🏕️🌊❤️

The land is secluded with only three campsites and they're at least 150 ft apart. I love that it has a gate to keep just passing Byers out. It's far away from the road to where you can't hear any traffic . Directly on the water. It is like a Sanctum. If you looking for a place to where you can get away and have total peace of mind this is the place.

Stayed in the tiny home on Rizwan’s land and it was awesome! It was a beautiful view right on the water. We had plenty to do and we certainly took advantage of that. We started off by kayaking, switched to the paddle boat, fishing, and then finished off with making s’mores by the fire. We ended the night grilling some steak and potatoes inside of the kitchen area. So peaceful and a much needed get away.

This was a beautiful camping spot for our family. We wanted somewhere secluded where we could hop over to the Outer Banks, and it was great. Plan for high grass, uneven terrain, and mosquitoes. The drive in is unpaved and wooded, but 2WD vehicles can make it with small campers. Anything other than a pop up I would check with the host. There is not really a beach, it’s more of a rocky shoreline but, again, a beautiful coastal view with sail boats, shrimp boats, and sea birds to watch. The dock is a great place to sip your coffee. Even with it being hot (end of July/early August so, of course it was!) and buggy, we really enjoyed this spot and would stay again.
