There are three hospitals nearby- Cortland Memorial, Hamilton Hospital, and Upstate University Hospital. With cobblestone mill ruins, a 200 year old cemetery at the property entrance and a large dam at the top of some of New York's most beautiful waterfalls, this is the former site of one of the Georgia Pacific's many logging mills dating back to the early 1800's and a part of Adirondack history. Surrounded by bedrock, huge boulders, massive pine trees and miles and miles of trails, the Fowlerville Falls offer days of exploration and/or relaxation. There is a large swimming hole at the top of the falls, just off of the South-facing bedrock bank, where you can swim or lay in the sun. The falls, themselves, are almost 500 ft. across (at the widest point) and approximately 150 ft. in length (from top to bottom), ascending at approximately a 40-45 degree angle, making them navigable by foot. In the drier months (and, of course, depending on rain fall), most of the falls are dry, with only 50 - 100 ft. of water flow, making them navigable by foot. There are many little pools and flowing water across the bedrock to explore, along with the rest of the river, the surrounding woods and adjacent miles and miles of atv/hiking trails. If you are kayaker, there river above the falls is calm and fairly shallow, ranging from .5 - several feet in depth. And if you are white water enthusiast, Fowlerville Falls (and the Moose River) is a nationally rated and renowned spot, boasting a class III-IV under normal release conditions, and a dangerous, cold class V under spring runoff conditions. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Learn more about this land: A raw, pine forest lining the bedrock banks of Port Leyden's Fowlerville Falls, just inside of the Adirondack park. The former site of one of Georgia Pacific's old logging mills, the property has private access to beautiful water falls, a large swimming hole just off of a large, South-facing rock bank, untamed, clean pine forests, ATV and hiking trails, trout & small mouth bass fishing, many fire pits and areas to camp throughout the property.

Drive down a dirt road, surrounded by trees to find an opening where 2 streams meet, at "The Saffron Cottage". The home of mystic and wellness professional, who moved here after 20 years in NYC, for a quieter and peaceful existence, where her only neighbors are animals and trees. Enjoy 3 acres of land on Mohawk territory. Perfect for hiking, playing in the little waterfalls in creek, sitting by the fire, star gazing and grounding. There's a hammock and fire pit for pleasure. Free firewood. Access to a natural spring that has safe water for drinking, although we recommend using a charcoal filtered pitcher or water bottle. The creek is an easy hike down the hill, the water is cold but clean for rinsing/bathing. A camp toilet is provided in shed, we ask you remove your own waste in the provided secure bags and dispose in the larger waste bins in driveway. In a short distance you will find farmers markets, hiking trails, antiquing and local breweries. 15 mins away from charming Cooperstown & Ostego Lake, 25 min to artistic Cherry Valley, and 8 mins away to Betty & Wilber state park, for beautiful hiking trails, 30 mins to Oneonta, for unique shopping. The property connects to state game land, great for hiking (recommend to wear orange on these trails). A few neighbors further out, so must follow the orange tags on trees to avoid hiking on to private property. You are welcome to set up tent anywhere on the 3 acres, as long as it's a reasonable distance from cottage. There is a fenced in area near the dirt road that is available as a dog run. Dogs are welcome, please use poop bags to collect their waste and dispose in larger waste bin on property. The Saffron Cottage @ the Enchanted Forest, hosts seasonal retreats, that you are welcome to join while on the land. Gatherings with themes like meditation, energy healing, esoteric & divination arts, survivalist training, sacred medicine ceremonies and drum circles. You will be updated upon booking of any events taking place on the land and an invitation to join in.

We have horses and alpacas to pet and visit, a few sheep and chickens, and a couple of Scottish Highland Cows. Close drive to swimming, hiking, shopping and museums. Away from the city, cozy and country. Come out and visit! Learn more about this land:This is a family farm on 48 acres, with access to hiking the snow mobile trails that run over a couple of hundred miles. We have horses, sheep and cows to pet and visit, a few ducks and chickens, and a rabbits. Parking is at the house, walk in to campsite. If you need help, we will gladly load up the tractor and escort you to the sites.Swimming at a state park/lake is a 5 mile drive, and there are other hiking trails within about a 20 minute drive. You can pitch a tent of your own, or borrow one of ours here by the house, or further out by the creek. Each campsite has a fire pit for your use.Restroom is available just inside the house if needed, and potable water is available via pump or hose outside the house or at the barn. We have a couple of dogs on sight, and we like to visit with folks - let us know if you want to socialize or not and we'll respect that. Your dogs are welcome, but please keep them leashed. Chickens like to run away, and dogs like to chase them. If you are traveling with horses, please contact us! We can provide turn out or possible stalls for you, if your shots are current (proof required). *fees apply depending on requirements.
