Lake Taghkanic is a great place for both summer and winter stays, with plenty of tent campsites as well as cabins and cottages, and a variety of activities to do year round. For winter folks, there's cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails, as well as ice skating and ice fishing areas, and plenty of fire pits to warm those chilly bones. For summer lovin', there are two beaches, so if someone kicks sand in your potato salad (accidentally, of course), you can just go to another beach and pretend like it never happened. The only sleeping quarters that are on the water are some of the cottages in the West End Cottage Area, so if you're planning on playing Beach Party Bingo, plan accordingly or be willing to walk a bit from your tent or cabin.

It is tucked in between the Hudson River (8 miles to the East) and the Catskill Mountains (10 miles to the west). It is just 6 miles from the Village of Saugerties and 14 miles to Woodstock, NY.
The piece available for camping is 10 acres, but the entire Garden is comprised of 98 acres of rolling land (most of it in a forestry protection plan) bordered on the west by acres of marshland. We are conveniently located next to the NY Thruway exit 19 & 209 Highway yet super secluded and in nature’s paradise adjacent to the Sawkill River and across a large private Forrest. There is some road noise from Sawkill road & the Thruway dependent on the spot you choose to set up. If your’e tenting you can be in the woods way up in the forest, but most campers prefer our spot near the Sawkill River. I have fire pits, common outdoor furniture & a gasBBQ’s that can be used. There is chickens, bees & goats & 2 guardian life stocks dogs that live with the goats. I also have a small Terrier & a farm cat. A lot of outdoor activity with bird watching, bunnies, deer & the groundhogs say good night. It’s rural yet only 10 minutes to Kingston uptown and about 20 minutes to Woodstock. About 1 hr from Hunter & Windham Mountain resorts and 45 minutes to Belleayre Ski.
We also have a wood fired oven and offer pizza making classes as well as catered meals.

Named during the pandemic, "Camp COVID Site 19" was born out of our desire to camp, as we weren't able to go camping anywhere! This camp is the back half of our property, located in the village of Tannersville. Camp is divided from our personal yard by a fence. The camp is also completely fenced in once the driveway gates are closed, allowing your pets to safely be off leash if you wish! A long stone driveway leads to camp, with a flat spot to park your skoolie, motorhome, or vehicle. There is a creek running along the entire back side of our property, outside of the fenced in area, which you can access by walking a few feet though the gates under the Camp COVID sign. We have a new bon fire pit in the center of camp, and fires are allowed as long as there is no burn ban in effect. Firewood is on site, and can be added on for $10 per night.
We have 2 water hook ups and one 15 amp electric hook up on site, we just ask that you do not run an A/C unit as it will trip our main breaker. There is a dump station at North South Lake State Park and Campground only minutes away in Haines Falls. Instructions and rules are posted in the bath house which has an on demand hot water shower and a composting toilet. There is a garbage can for your convienece which is located in the shed which must be kept closed to avoid black bears visiting! There is a covered dried in area to the left of the shed. We have a half barrel charcoal grill with a flat top griddle as well as several grill grates. One of the grill grates also fits over the fire pit if you prefer fire cooking!
There is an RV on site that will not be occupied during your stay, please do not enter, thank you!

A very spacious semi-wooded site that is in the shape of a triangle. The dimensions are approximately 100' by 100' by 50'. Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather.
Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound. Plenty of privacy with screens around the site.
Within 15-20 minutes of our site is just about anything you could desire. Local restaurants, hiking, fishing, shopping, drive in movie and much much more. Rainy days no problem explore one of our nations pieces of history, Vanderbilt mansion, Theodore Roosevelt home, Montgomery Place Mansion, Poets walk, Ferncliff forest, or Art Omi.

Mohawk State Forest can be identified by some truly unique natural and historical features that go unmatched in Connecticut. 1,683-foot Mohawk Mountain was once used by Native Americans to spy rival tribes approaching and the Black Spruce Bog is thought to have formed after a giant glacial ice block melted and left a 40-foot depression filled with water.
Today, the area is recognized its hearty specimens of black spruce and larch and has become popular for both educational and scientific purposes. Visitors also have access to youth group camping, stream and pond fishing, hikes on the Mohawk Trail and winter sports in the Mohawk Ski Area. Named during the pandemic, "Camp COVID Site 19" was born out of our desire to camp, as we weren't able to go camping anywhere! This camp is the back half of our property, located in the village of Tannersville. Camp is divided from our personal yard by a fence. The camp is also completely fenced in once the driveway gates are closed, allowing your pets to safely be off leash if you wish! A long stone driveway leads to camp, with a flat spot to park your skoolie, motorhome, or vehicle. There is a creek running along the entire back side of our property, outside of the fenced in area, which you can access by walking a few feet though the gates under the Camp COVID sign. We have a new bon fire pit in the center of camp, and fires are allowed as long as there is no burn ban in effect. Firewood is on site, and can be added on for $10 per night.
We have 2 water hook ups and one 15 amp electric hook up on site, we just ask that you do not run an A/C unit as it will trip our main breaker. There is a dump station at North South Lake State Park and Campground only minutes away in Haines Falls. Instructions and rules are posted in the bath house which has an on demand hot water shower and a composting toilet. There is a garbage can for your convienece which is located in the shed which must be kept closed to avoid black bears visiting! There is a covered dried in area to the left of the shed. We have a half barrel charcoal grill with a flat top griddle as well as several grill grates. One of the grill grates also fits over the fire pit if you prefer fire cooking!
There is an RV on site that will not be occupied during your stay, please do not enter, thank you!

A very spacious semi-wooded site that is in the shape of a triangle. The dimensions are approximately 100' by 100' by 50'. Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather.
Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound. Plenty of privacy with screens around the site.
Within 15-20 minutes of our site is just about anything you could desire. Local restaurants, hiking, fishing, shopping, drive in movie and much much more. Rainy days no problem explore one of our nations pieces of history, Vanderbilt mansion, Theodore Roosevelt home, Montgomery Place Mansion, Poets walk, Ferncliff forest, or Art Omi.

Stone Mountain was exceptionally accommodating, creating a winter camping pad for my vehicle, crowned with rooftop tent. After the first snow, the host checked in to make sure everything was good. 2 nights at The Awakening Garden
This was such a cozy and wintery cabin experience. My partner and I stayed over New Years Eve and enjoyed the snow falling, the wood stove firing away, a full moon, and blissfully almost no cell service at all (relief!). It was magical to drop into quiet woods and appreciate an absolutely tranquil experience all around. We decided we want to come back for another round once it warms up this spring/summer!
Tips for future guests: in the cold season, acquire PLENTY of firewood as it takes a lot to stay warm! But once the little cabin heats up, its plenty hot, especially up in the loft. We loved going to Ambrosia Diner down the road too, and bearing witness to the waterfalls of the Catskills.

We absolutely loved the Beechwood site!! It was private and well-maintained, complete with firewood, a clean outhouse with composting toilet, a really nice fire pit, and a container of non potable water. A few steps away from the hiking trail that led us to an amazing view at the lookout point, and there is a fresh spring at the base of the trail. Adele is a wonderful host, and her farm is truly beautiful. The 3 camp sites are spaced far apart in the woods behind the farm, and the Beechwood site in particular comfortably accommodates one large tent (there were two of us staying), and also has a picnic table with benches, and a wooden rocking chair by the fire. We had an awesome time, and we’ll will definitely be back!

We had a great stay at Triple Creek! The view from the campsite is stunning and so peaceful and quiet. Stephen was communicative and very sweet when we arrived, and then gave us full privacy after check-in. Like other campers have mentioned, there is a considerable uphill walk to the campsite …a cart is a must, but it’s still quite a workout getting a cart up and your gear up there. We were there late October and the ticks were bad (mostly on the walk up/down)- we planned for it with long pants, boots, tick spray etc and were fine though. There’s a great brewery about a mile down the road and tons of really cool hiking very close to the campsite - we recommend hiking the West Kill Summit along Devil’s Path. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this site to other (prepared) campers!

Perfect for a weekend escape from the city.
The cabin was spacious and spotless, and the restroom was well-maintained.
No service, water, or electricity, but firewood was ready for us, and the nights under the stars were amazing.
The host was friendly and easy to communicate with, and check-in/check-out were very flexible and smooth.
It felt a little pricey for a basic setup, but we still really enjoyed our stay.
Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to disconnect and recharge in nature.

One of the best maintained and run camping sites I’ve ever been to via HipCamp. Adele and her daughter are responsive, accommodating and hard working. Beechwood site is remote, well maintained and a level area for your tent. The site is difficult to find in the dark so make sure to get assistance on your first visit.
