Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that make you feel like you are in another world. It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below. The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by. Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

Feel free to reserve your own firewood. $10 *PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING* I want to be transparent with you guys on the property and size of the camper! -The camper is very small only 21ft. The average height clearance is 6'2" so if you are tall this may not be for you. (I'm 5'9" and its comfortable for me) -If you are a bigger person this may feel too tight for you especially in the bathroom area -The bed is a full size some couples may feel that this is to small for them. -A hot shower will last about 15 minutes once it is heated up. -In the summertime there is bugs some may get into the camper. We do treat the area with safe bug spray but it may not fully prevent them. -There are two other tiny houses and a main house on the property. They are far apart but the main house is close. We have a privacy fence that fully blocks the house. So you are still very private but you are not fully secluded. -In case of fire There is a fire blanket, fire extinguisher, and a smoke/carbon monoxide detector inside the camper. The bedroom door is only to be used as an emergency fire exit. (Door is locked from the outside but unlocked from the inside) There is also a water cannon outside for outdoor fires. Please be responsible with all fires! -If you want to cancel you must cancel within 24 hours of booking then I will issue a full refund. We do treat the area with safe bug spray but it may not fully prevent them. -There are two other tiny houses and a main house on the property. They are far apart but the main house is close. We have a privacy fence that fully blocks the house. So you are still very private but you are not fully secluded. -In case of fire There is a fire blanket, fire extinguisher, and a smoke/carbon monoxide detector inside the camper. The bedroom door is only to be used as an emergency fire exit. (Door is locked from the outside but unlocked from the inside) There is also a water cannon outside for outdoor fires. Please be responsible with all fires! -If you want to cancel you must cancel within 24 hours of booking then I will issue a full refund. The ‘Fossil Creek Trail’ leads down through the woods from the pond area to the slate bed creek. (*Please watch your footing on the trail- some is quite uneven.) There are many amazing fossils to find if you look in the creek bed during the dryer season. The woods are cooler and bug free, perfect for sitting and relaxing with a book or picnic. There are several mowed trails that wind around the pond and then back up to the Tent.

Brought my girlfriend here as a little surprise trip for her bday and she absolutely loved it!! I was a little nervous about the weather but it ended up being so cozy inside the Yurt with the snowfall outside. Such a nice and relaxing stay with wonderful hosts that accommodates to all of your needs. Was so relieving to be able to pack nice and light and just hangout. We had everything we needed! Awesome hosts and a an awesome place. Ed made sure we had plenty of wood the entire time and was always available if we needed anything!

Perfect for a weekend escape from the city. The cabin was spacious and spotless, and the restroom was well-maintained. No service, water, or electricity, but firewood was ready for us, and the nights under the stars were amazing. The host was friendly and easy to communicate with, and check-in/check-out were very flexible and smooth. It felt a little pricey for a basic setup, but we still really enjoyed our stay. Cabin D was so sweet and charming. We watched the sunset over the field and in the morning watched the field brighten as the sun rose through the woods behind us. There was a small heater available, but we didn't use it. The cups, silverware, cloth napkins and coffee and coffee put were a perfect touch. I did bring my favorite sleeping bags (zipped together) so we were warm when we woke up to 36°F in the morning, but I am sure the blankets provided would have been just as cozy. It was so wonderful to be able to watch the world through so many windows. I will definitely be back in the future!

I visited Riverhaven in late October for a solo reading retreat, and the environment was exactly what I was looking for when I envisioned a peaceful, secluded place to read. A beautiful and affordable stay! The hosts were wonderful, we (the dogs and I) had the whole property to ourselves. Checked out the local conscience store/sandwich shop they recommended and it was excellent. There’s electricity but no heat so I brought a small space heater with me for the chilly nights, it worked great for the space! The dogs loved the pond and all the land to run on. The cabin was very cozy. Thank you Sydney for making this a beautiful and affordable place to stay. It was amazing, we will definitely be back!
