I live off grid in one of the toughest climates in the US. I have about 15 acres of land bordered by 10,000 acres of wild forest preserve. Locals refer to this area as The Hill because of its unique weather anomalies. I share my experiences with campers in good weather but exist here all year. I am a Qualified NYS Woodland Guide. My actual license is pending the processing of fees and registration. This should be complete by August 1st of this year. I have over a half century of knowledge gained through a lifetime of hiking, exploring and living in this environment. My main focus is the land, lakes, ponds and streams in the lower Adirondack Park. I leave the high peaks, ice climbing and white water rafting to others that choose that speciality. My goal in guiding is not that of a just a follow me and listen guide. I strive to help those interested in learning about and enjoying the outdoors safely so that you take away real life skills you can use once we are done. I did search and resuce work as a volunteer for many years under DEC Forest Rangers. To help contain costs l will allow up to groups of people to participate at one time. Also. If you would like Amish made products, l can arrange that as well. There is a very conservative Amish community in the surrounding area. I consider these people my good friends and l am very familiar with their customs, traditions and lifestyles. Many people are now thinking of doing what we have done. If you so choose, we can schedule time to discuss any of the offgrid issues that may be unanswered in your mind. The original intent was to offer a peaceful place for you to escape for a time. Host was very communicative both before and during stay and upgraded us to Tent Site 2 (said it was better than the one we'd booked - and he was right!). Wonderful property with plenty of separation from other campers; quiet, save for some road noise from adjacent roads. The Market was a charming amenity (we got eggs that we cooked for breakfast and they were super tasty).

Staying at Tilden Hill Farm was a great experience. I didn’t realize the bike trail was there until I arrived and it made me miss my old mountain biking days. If you love mountain biking, I highly recommend. The countryside views are beautiful, the location feels peaceful and scenic, and the host made everything easy and welcoming. The site and facilities are well kept and thoughtfully set up, too—everything felt comfortable from the moment I checked in. I’d happily stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Tilden Hill Farm and site M was perfect for us. The campsite was peaceful, well maintained, and a great place to relax. Our family loved the goats! We also loved exploring the bike trails through the woods-they were a great way to experience the whole property. The little farm market was another favorite with fresh items and products from the farm that made our visit even more special. The farm has a welcoming atmosphere, and it’s clear that a lot of care goes into creating a great experience for guests. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway with a little extra charm!

The tent sites are bounded by sap tubes -- tent campers should expect to stay in their site and the provided trails rather than being able to wander directly into the woods.

The campsite is so cute, the fire pit was perfect, the cabin was also great! Very clean! I expected to see spiders inside the cabin and I don't think I even saw 1. Karl was very kind and welcoming. I even loved being greeted by the two goats as we were packing to leave. Wonderful experience!

I was camping in my car along the edge of the woods (Site 2) for 4 days and enjoyed the visits from the horses - magical and memorable! It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience and Lisa and Ed were helpful and welcoming.
It was exactly the horse hangout experience I was hoping for. I found it worked great to simply time my cooking, working, or other “getting stuff out” activities for when the horses were on the far end of the pasture, and putting things away in my car when the horses started grazing closer. Then once they were close, I could fully focus on visiting with them (and saying “no” to anyone tugging on my mesh window screens, which did the trick).
Keep in mind that the horses will investigate anything they can reach when the herd drifts your way 2-3 times a day (which may include licking, nibbling, pushing, etc. of your stuff), so don’t leave anything out that they could damage or that would not be safe for them to eat. As Lisa said, they’re like large toddlers! The horses were always quite friendly and pleasant to me but had the occasional horse drama where they chased each other, so just heed the hosts’ advice to not be in the middle of the herd.
With that in mind, you can enjoy meeting the horses (and foals!!), exploring the woods and pasture, building a fire under starry skies, trying farm fresh eggs and maple syrup, and everything the farm has to offer!

Our friend stayed at Site F and loved it. Although he was tent camping, he chose an RV site so he could have water and electric right at the campsite. The site was clean, spacious, and didn’t feel cramped or crowded at all. There was plenty of room for his tent, cabana, canopy, and all of his gear, with a great view overlooking the pond. It was an excellent site and one he would happily choose again.

We had a wonderful weekend at Tilden Hill Farm and would absolutely stay again. Our group booked both a full-hookup RV site and a tent site, while several friends booked nearby sites. The sites were well spaced, so no one felt crowded, but it was still easy for everyone to gather at our RV site for a campfire, s’mores, music, and plenty of laughter.
The property is beautiful, peaceful, and clearly well cared for. The grounds and outbuildings were well maintained, and the bathrooms, showers, and laundry area were exceptionally clean. The host provided clear instructions that made everything easy to find and navigate. Check-in and checkout were simple and hassle-free, and communication was timely, helpful, and never intrusive.
My wife and I were both raised on or around farms, so staying on a working farm with cattle, goats, and chickens was exactly our kind of getaway. We own goats ourselves, but apparently that does nothing to reduce the need to visit someone else’s goats.
The market was another nice addition, with beef, pork, eggs, local honey, maple syrup, jams, locally brewed beer, and more. We were happy to support the farm directly.
Beautiful surroundings, clean facilities, plenty of room, and a quiet place to relax with friends. We had a genuinely great stay and would gladly recommend Tilden Hill Farm.

I have a list of things I look for when I'm booking a campsite. At the top of that list is privacy. This campsite fits that. The spot is in the woods with no other site, or house etc. around. It's just you and the wildlife. It's not too far off the road and easy to get to, but still secluded enough to feel private.
The lean-to is great if it starts to get buggy. We cooked some food over the fire and our dog loved to run around the field at the site. Getting to the water is a short hike but worth it. Just make sure you wear the right footwear!
This is definitely a site worth visiting again for some time away but still being able to access modern convivences. Also wanted to mention- we have Verizon and had cell service.

We loved staying at Karl's Serenity Cabin. He generously built a campfire when we arrived and shared knowledge of the surrounding land. The cabin is clean and cozy, and our stay was incredibly peaceful. Thank you!!

Its a great spot! He is a very good host. I caught two Brown trout at sunrise in the third week of July. Deer, birds, good views and the fire pit is nice. I would recommend the property to anyone! :)

What a peaceful little place it was! I was on site 5. I liked how spaced out the sites were and convenience of running water & flushing toilet! Also,the campground is close to so many things to do. I’ll definitely stay here again if I’m in the area.
