The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country.
We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet.
For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source.
The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch.
We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion.
We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others.
I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible.
We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can.
And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. Just book your reservation, and show us your ID during your stay, and we will reimburse you for your last night with us.

With all the improvements made by his father and family through the years, you will also learn to have a love for the history and beauty here on this unique 30-acre treasure.
You can explore Native American ruins that were inhabited by some 2,000 people between 700-1100 AD. The grounds are wonderful to walk with a little lake which draws elk, deer, hawks, blue herons, etc.
Easy to access just 3 minutes off I-25. We are 5 minutes away from the Pecos Natl Monument and 15 minutes away from the Pecos River with plenty of great fishing spots ;Visit Santa Fe (20-minute drive) or Las Vegas (30-minute drive) with dozens of restaurants, museums, art galleries, etc.

Our place is for Wildlife, to be fed, and given water and safe space to raise young. We are located in an area where the birds of the world fly from the north to the south and then change direction each season. Many lizards . Many wild mammals . There are many farms in the area. With Horses , goats , chickens , ducks , mules, donkeys , other livestock .
We have no pets and no livestock.
At night this is dark ( we do have solar lights on walk ways ) and it is peaceful. A safe zone for travelers . Serene , gentle and lovely . You get your privacy .

If you're looking for a quick stay while passing through Albuquerque, I have a spot for you! I'm in the process of putting back together and repairing a small house, and in the meantime, it makes for great indoor camping. There’s no shower, but the toilet and hot water work.
It’s pretty bare-bones — that’s why I call it camping — but there’s a bed, a table, and some chairs. Pets are okay too! I’m about 3 miles from Old Town.

(Please note that that there are no bathroom facilities available, so please come prepared with your own set up). A word about our wildlife is important at this point. We are a registered wildlife sanctuary and take all steps necessary to protect it. This is the desert southwest. Diamondback rattlesnakes, black widow spiders, quail, rabbits, and the rare horned lizard all call our land their habitat. Stay alert! Issues with wildlife are very rare; any concerns will immediately be handled by host.
Your Camp Host, Chef Üdø, is onsite most days and evenings, and has 30 years' experience in the catering and private chef biz, and as a camp host. He's happy to coordinate hot meals for you and your companions! No more need to go into town to get a pizza or some icky fast food! We will make you a homemade pizza, dry-aged steak, brined chicken, smoked Wagyu burger, or lasagna...all in-house. Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, low-sodium, and most other dietary restrictions are no problem! Contact Chef Üdø for more details and please check out our menu in the “Extras” section of our campsite listing. We can make just about anything in our sanitary kitchen facilities. We cook with a spirit of Love and inclusion in our kitchen, and it shows! ❤️ Check our reviews! People love my food because I ❤️ to make it!
Chef Üdø maintains current local food handler's certification, as well as HAACP federal certification. Prices are friendly and competitive with local restaurants. Vacuum-sealed frozen meals, aka “sous vide” available for most recipes.

We feature unparalleled views of the sunrise over the mountains, as well as convenient access to Lincoln National Forest, White Sands National Monument, BLM off-road parklands, and nearby Alamogordo. From U.S. Highway 550 (mile marker 112.5), you will see the National Park sign, drive south on County Road 7900 for 5 miles.
After 5 miles (the road comes to a “T”) you will see another National Park sign, on the right hand side. Turn right on County Road 7950. You cannot turn left. (If you go straight, that will take you to Pueblo Pintado).
Drive 3 miles on County Road 7950. The pavement will end. On the right hand side you will see a sign that says "Dry Camp".
THE CAMPGROUND IS ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. There will be a sign that reads: “Horsethief Campground”. In front of the short road to the Campground.
At the end of the short road to the campground is: a large portable building, and 2 other buildings. We apologize that the road is a little uneven, but we are looking to improve this real soon. You are welcome to park inside or outside the gated area.
Horse-Thief Campground is an upcoming camp; located on 5 acres of land and more, for campers to enjoy. In a quiet; serene, beautiful landscape area of the Dine Nation.
With beautiful sunrises; sunsets and night sky is out of this world. There are trails in which visitors may walk or bike, as well as a Look Out Point. Horse-Thief is currently a Dry Camp with no Electricity or running water however generators are welcome. There is one portable restroom.
P.S. If you have already paid on Hipcamp, you do not need to pay again. However, please sign the Waiver provided. With the war going on across the country and gas prices on the rise; if you we would like to save a little money instead of making a reservation on Hipcamp, you can pay for the fees upon arrival with cash, check or Zelle. We are a dry dispersed campground with plenty of room.

Kate’s yurt was such a fun stop. I wish we had two nights now! We came in around sunset and the views from the spot were so beautiful. The yurt is fantastic. There is a camping stove (we used it for coffee and heated up some bagged beans for nachos), plates, cutlery, and cups, a hand washing basin, a berkee.. it’s like fancy camping.
Although we didn’t need to use the shower, it looked like a fun setup. The outhouse was clean and innovative yet simple.
I’d recommend the yurt when it’s not so hot. We had a battery fan we ended up getting out of the truck to get some air flow. There are windows on the yurt you can roll up, too.
We also had our dog, he loved it.
Highly recommend! Oh and Kate’s directions were flawless. We have an older Tacoma, but any car can make it up the hill.

Pat’s silo is exactly what I look for in a place to stay. Off the beaten path, quietude, astounding views of the mountains, safe and secure, thoughtfully designed and built with creativity and care. I can’t say enough good things about it. Great spot for all the day trip adventures you can make in the area, and also perfectly quiet place to stay inside and read and look at the mtns. Pat herself is a very kind host who knows the area well. You will not regret staying here, worth it. Also night sky views are outstanding, Milky Way is visible on dark nights.

The owners take very good care of the site and make it just so easy to walk up and start enjoying things by having all of the essentials that I didn’t even think of already there for us. The hammocks are the cherry on top and make the site and oasis. The fact that it is private, and only a few campsites is also amazing and loved the ponds! We are 100% coming back!

This was our second year at the same camp site. We absolutely love it! A word that keeps coming up when we describe it is “magical”. From feeding the horses every evening (bring carrots!) to watching the birds and other critters at the campsite to peace and quiet it is amazing! The campsites are far apart and as far I know there’s an outhouse near each one. All in all a great experience!

Large, private, campsites. Well appointed with cooking utensils, water jug, picnic table and solar ground lights. Unfortunately, a fire ban kept us from enjoying the large fire pit. Fresh water is available but not close to campsites. Porta-toilets are also placed around the campground. Overall, a very nice campground with nice sites. However, be aware that the sites can be dusty so ground cover for your campsite is highly recommended.

Stayed at site 4 over July 4th weekend. It was the perfect spot for some much needed peace and quiet. The site overlooks the pond and I felt I had it all to myself. They put a lot of attention to detail in making it a great experience. Hammocks hung, table and chairs, wood lounge chairs, hand wash station, solar lights, bird feeders, bbq grill w/grill utensils, shovel/ poker for enormous firepit (didn't use because area under burn ban). Nearby vault toilet by game area was very convenient. Everything was perfect! My only complaint...that I did not learn how to photograph the night sky before visiting! Lol! Seriously kicking myself for missing out on capturing such a magical view. I have seen a lot of starry nights but out there with no light filtration the sky seemed so much larger. Magical. I love how spread out all the sites are and hope they maintain that in the future. I will be back!

Open space, lots of wildlife coyotes, wild horses prairie dogs right along the goats, chickens and pigs. Awesome host beautiful land. Huge campsites! Very clean!
