Paradise Valley Homestead

11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents33 acres · West Milford, NJ
GREAT NEWS!!! As of April 5th, my long awaited 1st Glamping site is available for booking! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. We have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

Welcome to Clearing Farm! Our grounds expand over 100 acres with many private hiking trails, a big field and cascading waterfalls. Visit our Instagram @clearingfarm to find out more. Please note while our cabin is a premium experience on a working farm, it is still an outdoor experience that takes place deep in the woods, off the grid and in a cabin built from earthy or recycled materials. It is a far cry from a typical hotel or traditional glamping. This Clearing Farm off-grid cabin is located on our 100+ acre farm. You'll be staying right next to a waterfall and able to enjoy all our land features. Experience a private campsite equipped with a Casper Full Mattress, fire pit and charcoal grill. Please note there is 1 bed at the property but room next to the cabin to bring and put up additional tents.

Nature is calling! **History of The Awosting Club** In the mid 1950's John Atwater Bradley, then a graduate student, attended a conference in Cragsmoor, the site of a celebrated art colony not far from what is now the Awosting Reserve and The Awosting Club. The next morning at dawn, he went out for an exploratory hike and did not return until long after dark. Bradley hiked through evergreen and hardwood forests, along bubbling streams, roaring waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, racoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge. The Bradley family still maintain the property, and after 50 years of sharing the property with educational organizations, schools, artists, writers, explorers, camps, family and friends, are excited to invite others to fall in love with the Shawangunk Ridge as John Bradley had over 70 years ago. Bradley's daughter, Camilla, and her family are keeping the Awosting traditions alive by sprucing up the camp buildings and platforms while maintaining the trails that have been used for decades for outdoor adventures: from sleeping to eating to playing to communing with nature in all her glory.

Sennin Dojo

The land was purchased from Fish Cabin Preserve, which it borders.  Seven years ago I began building a small traditional log cabin and last year I began adding a second, timber-framed story.  The deck is in place and the frame construction is underway.  The original cabin is off grid with unfilled (unchinked) gaps between logs.  Generally, the cabin is not available for rent for sleeping (campers can pitch tents or sleep under the stars/forest canopy), but it does serve many uses at the main camp site.  The driveway to the cabin is about 1,000 feet of woodland "road".  Car parking is mostly near the road, though 4x4 vehicles can drive further in.  Along the driveway are several tent or car-camping sites, and several more tenting sites are located at the main camp near the cabin and main fire ring.  The location is home of Nathaniel's herbal apprenticeship, educational weekends once per month from May until October.Learn more about this land:Off-grid log cabin 1,000 feet into the forest in the valleys of Fish Cabin Creek and the Delaware River. Local attractions center around river recreation, hiking areas, and local towns with shops and farmer's markets. The cabin and campsite are set up for martial arts training and weekend herbal programs. There is an outdoor kitchen and plenty of camping areas. The property provides a secluded woodland scene that is perfect for de-stressing, martial arts practice, yoga, meditation, the study of nature, photography, and writing.

Mary queen of England granted approximate 400 acres to the Davenport family in 1689. The original homestay location was lost.  A Dutch home and barn were build during  the pre-industrial revolution. Unfortunately the home was lost to a fire in 1979, you can still see the stone foundation. The diary barn was converted to a home in 1984. 20 acres remained landlocked with pittoresk class A trout stream running trough pastoral setting.
