Campers would drive to both sites down a trail so we highly recommend a vehicle with decent clearance and 4WD or AWD. Southernmost Point is a fully drive-in site. Shady Grove campers park above the site and the campsite is down a short path, just a few hundred feet or so. The property consists of varied terrain of rock ledges, lush moss, streams, and panoramic views at the summit. Family owned property obtained through the barter system. You shingle my barn and I'll give you that property. My Pappy's land. 11 acres. Recently cleared for its timber. With some landscaping it became clear that beautiful campsites were forming. My father is 78 years old. The last thing he ever thought he would be doing with his retirement is jumping back on his excavator. Can't keep a good man down. Now here we are. Father and daughter. One day my children. 3 large tent sites and two camper sites. Future cabin and seasonal RV sites. A brook runs through the property but dries up after June. There is a small pond with rock stairs. Deer and turkey are frequently seen. Peace and serenity. This property does not offer complete seclusion. You will see other campers if all 3 sites are occupied. There is spacious distance. What this location offers is that it is centrally located to mountains, oceans, lakes,concert venues, restaurants, nightlife, shopping and antiquing. Traveling to NH and Massachusetts is a day trip. A few hours and your in central Maine. Cross the border into Canada. So much to explore or just relax. Stay a few nights or stay the season. 2023 is off to a great camping season. Already meeting new campers. Hopefully I'll see some familiar faces from 2022. A few upgrades. There is an outside water faucet, an outlet and an outside shower...hot and a privacy fence. There is a bathroom/shed that contains a toilet. Goats are coming. Yes goats. Not until fall though. The frog pond population continues to grow. A neighboring town is finding 3 legged frogs in their ponds. Apparently caused by a parasite. Let me know if you find any. 2024 was another great season. New faces that I hope to see again. The summer weather was great for camping. A large Bell Tent and a small portable camper was purchased for those who are seeking more of a glamping experience. WELCOME BACK for 2026... 2025 had some complications unfortunately. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to invite anyone to my property. Consider yourself invited for the 2026 season. I look forward to hosting new and repeat campers. There is a free weekend offer for those who would like to camp and work to prepare for Memorial Day weekend. WELCOME ALL!!

We loved the hot tub so much that Cliff prepared for us during our 2 nights stay. I would recommended to bring extra bedding if you plan to stay there in November, it get pretty cold in yurt.

We also had a great open sky to stargaze and fresh snow in the morning which made our experience so much more fun. This was my first Hipcamp experience and it was a wonderful first impression!

Best site I've ever stayed at! Good amount of space between sites but still an easy walk to the kitchen+water, outhouses were clean and convenient with an excellent sense of interior decoration! We stayed at Birch Grove on a particularly cold, rainy, and windy Halloween weekend and Nick already had a large tarp set up over the easiest tent spot.... plus a cow skull and a few candles for the ambiance. Excellent vibes 👌

Incredible site with multiple pitches spread out around the land. We were lucky enough to be put on the beat site...on site 7 (despite booking the field site). What a view and great facilities. Fit pit with grill for cooking whilst watching the stars and white mountains. Camp cooking kitchen and shower near the main house. Fire wood for sale. Compost toilet at each site. The only problem was we wished we could have stayed longer! Look out for the friendly moose and check out the little boat on the pond. Fab site 10/10.

The site was beautiful and had everything you need! We were here in the fall so the other sites were mostly empty. Each site is large and wooded- we stayed in #5 secret field and it was huge and very level. Great spot! We will definitely come back!

Weekend Trip to Butter Hill Hideaway-Forest Retreat

I loved camping on Lori's land. All the glamping tents are very private, and you have to walk about 100 yards from the car, so there is no noise at all. The outhouse was super clean and so cool inside. The bed in the tent was very comfortable and had enough room for the dog as well. The land is beautiful with North Conway only a 30 min drive for great food and coffee! I highly recommend this Hip Camp!

Kudos to Nick for preserving this beautiful property for generations to enjoy especially in the face of constant development and expansion northward. It truly is a sanctuary. I loved camping here! The leaves were gorgeous in the morning. There was some road noise but it was nothing too crazy and I would still highly recommend this spot! The tree coverage and built in coverage was so nice to sit under especially since it was raining. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a place to land with service and close to town!

I really liked camping here, there is a fire place right by it but there was a no campfires rule in effect unfortunately. But the property was really lovely, and quiet. Felt like I was backpacking after that little trail to the campsite! I would definitely come back. Thank you!

An amazing stay at a beautiful property! It was a little hard to find- when I clicked the directions option on the booking, it took me to two different places that were both incorrect. The address for the campground is 262 depot street, and the campground map is difficult to find- doesn’t seem to be on the Hipcamp site. Our friends booked the river run site so we were able to take over the whole area, and our dogs could run around and play which was great! Very private and secluded, though it might have felt too close if people at the adjoining site (river run) were strangers. We will definitely be back, so many cool and different options for lodging!!

First time hostel experience. I was expecting all 20 somethings, but pleasantly surprised all ages were represented. We camped in the yard and it was clean and well maintained with plenty of space. It allowed us access inside of the hostel and more importantly a hot shower. Everyone was welcoming to my small dog, and I felt safe both outside and in. Highly recommend.

The campsite was huge and the host was awesome. The property had so much space to explore and the 1 mile hike to the viewpoint did not disappoint! Great spot to see some late season foliage and we even got a chance to see the aurora borealis too. The no burn notice across the state of NH was a bummer but the host offered a portable propane fire pit instead which was amazing! Overall a great experience

Such a magical feeling place. Everything was perfect. You can tell that these people have their act together and know exactly what they're doing hosting. I hate that. I only got one night to stay there due to an issue back home at work. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely be staying here.
