The Holmestead is a rustic dry cabin on 5 acres nestled between Mill Creek and a seasonal run off stream with easy access to the highway and only a 10 min drive to Missoula. A queen bed, futon and air mattress are available for sleeping!
Family and pet friendly property with plenty of space to pitch a tent next to the cabin if you have more guests in your party (tents will be an additional fee, $10 per person in addition to the 4 person cabin max). Excellent cell service if you have Verizon or carriers that pull from those towers.
Attractions: Walking distance to forestry service roads. 15 minutes to the Missoula Airport and an additional 10 minutes to the heart of Missoula and all it has to offer. If you are looking for more adventure there is always an endless amount of recreation near, whether you want to drive 5 minutes to mountain bike or 3 hours to Glacier National Park, there is something for everyone! If you have questions about fun things to do please reach out to us!
Parking: Reserved parking for guests in the main driveway or in the clearing near the cabin.
Water: Portable toilet onsite, sealson warm shower and sink also available, we recently upgraded to a JOOLCA hot water system so guests can have running water and a warm outdoor shower. We provide 5 gal of potable water in the colder months and have running water nearby for easy refill of water containers if needed in the warmer months.

While exploring Helena, we recommend the Walking Mall and the lower end of Last Chance Gulch for shopping and dining. You can also do a self guided tour of the Capitol building and then ride the tour train through Helena to get a quick history lesson. If you want to do something outside, we suggest Houser Lake at Lakeside with a bar and grill, a beach, fire pit, volley ball, etc. There is also guided boat rides at Gates of the Mountains on Holter Lake (about 20 miles towards Great Falls). If you are looking to go hiking, Mount Helena is a nice hike, but maybe a bit much for small kiddos, unless you have a backpack. We maintain a small orchard of fruit trees, a garden which feeds us year round and a small flower farm on the property. Avid skiers, bikers, paddlers and hikers, offering the property for others to enjoy was a conscious decision made when planning all of our infrastructure. Take trips into Glacier National Park we are only 2.5 miles from the North Fork Park Entrance (shorter if you walk) with access to Bowman and Kintla Lakes and miles of trails. It is a 40 minute beautiful drive to Apgar to the start of the Going to the Sun road. Polebridge is a lively mountain outpost with a famous bakery, pizza and equipment rentals. The Holmestead is a rustic dry cabin on 5 acres nestled between Mill Creek and a seasonal run off stream with easy access to the highway and only a 10 min drive to Missoula. A queen bed, futon and air mattress are available for sleeping!
Family and pet friendly property with plenty of space to pitch a tent next to the cabin if you have more guests in your party (tents will be an additional fee, $10 per person in addition to the 4 person cabin max). Excellent cell service if you have Verizon or carriers that pull from those towers.
Attractions: Walking distance to forestry service roads. 15 minutes to the Missoula Airport and an additional 10 minutes to the heart of Missoula and all it has to offer. If you are looking for more adventure there is always an endless amount of recreation near, whether you want to drive 5 minutes to mountain bike or 3 hours to Glacier National Park, there is something for everyone! If you have questions about fun things to do please reach out to us!
Parking: Reserved parking for guests in the main driveway or in the clearing near the cabin.
Water: Portable toilet onsite, sealson warm shower and sink also available, we recently upgraded to a JOOLCA hot water system so guests can have running water and a warm outdoor shower. We provide 5 gal of potable water in the colder months and have running water nearby for easy refill of water containers if needed in the warmer months.

While exploring Helena, we recommend the Walking Mall and the lower end of Last Chance Gulch for shopping and dining. You can also do a self guided tour of the Capitol building and then ride the tour train through Helena to get a quick history lesson. If you want to do something outside, we suggest Houser Lake at Lakeside with a bar and grill, a beach, fire pit, volley ball, etc. There is also guided boat rides at Gates of the Mountains on Holter Lake (about 20 miles towards Great Falls). If you are looking to go hiking, Mount Helena is a nice hike, but maybe a bit much for small kiddos, unless you have a backpack. Absolutely beautiful property. Thoughtful accommodations(games, solar powered flashlight/radio, books, hiking poles). Truly a wonderful experience. We didn’t encounter any bears but we did get to see a few deer. I recommend getting there during the light hours so you can find your way. Easy to follow instruction. Hosts are responsive and welcoming. Propane fire pit was a nice bonus. Our indoor heater was out of propane but we were comfortable. Bathroom and shower are down a little ways from the a-frame but not a bad walk. Definitely set up for a camper ready for a little glamp :)

Clean and very well stocked for a cabin. The sleeping bags and mattresses/cots on site were comfortable and clean. It’s remote, the stream is awesome to have nearby, the night sky is incredible with near zero light pollution, great fire pit, xl picnic table, lots of propane lanterns/burner/grill, I could go on for awhile. I didn’t get a chance to meet the folks who own it but they’re probably really great. Their cabin game is A+. I would note that this property is not for the total novice camper. You’d have to be atleast a decent driver to get a shitty little car or minivan down the path to the cabin but it’s no problem in an suv or truck. The cabin has everything you need to really have a great glamping base camp, your entrusted with a nice assortment of fire, propane accessories, fire pits, wood stoves, sharp stuff etc. Nothing here is stupid proof. Your don’t have running water, there’s no electricity and no fires if things get to dry. That being said it’s got plenty of water from the creek and various buckets, tubs, coolers and such along with a really cool old wash basin thing for your hands. There are a bunch of propane lanterns, mantles and fuel all stocked for light. Great options for cooking, grate over the fire pit, grill, and two large burners inside. We flew out and rented a car to explore the tri state area so we had very little with us. I would recommend a headlamp, some good food and maybe a few cold beers but you don’t need to worry about a whole lot else

This site was beautiful! Lynda was so kind and helpful. There is a nice trail near the cabin and is easily accessible (it is steep though!). The cabin was perfect, the pictures don’t do it justice. Our dog loved the fenced in area. It’s also the perfect place to look at the stars. Highly recommend!

We stayed in the dry cabin while traveling home from our hiking trip. It was perfect! Cody and his family were very welcoming, to include his dog! The cabin itself is amazing! It’s clean and well taken care of. There is also a little seating area down by the creek to hang out and enjoy the sounds of nature. We also saw a ton of deer around. I would 10/10 stay here again.

Highly recommend this cabin!! The hosts were incredibly friendly and always available. The cabin checked all our boxes, spotlessly clean and felt homey. The location was peaceful and beautiful, set in the countryside yet conveniently close to must-see attractions and nearby cities. A solid 10/10!!

Weekend Trip to A Canyon Stay with Mini A-frame
What a perfect getaway spot. This cabin is nestled amidst hills and forest and is such a peaceful retreat from the world. The cabin has everything that you need to just unplug and the shower is amazing! A vehicle with clearance is a must to climb the last part of the drive, especially if it has been raining. I will definitely return!

1 night at Mission Falls Ranch
We really enjoyed our time here! We stayed a night as part of our honeymoon traveling through Montana. It is very peaceful and quiet, beautiful surroundings with the mountains and creek, and the animals are really sweet and fun to be around. The bed is super comfy and cozy and we slept so well in the A frame. The camper with the shower is really cool and the hot shower was a very nice treat. It was a pleasure meeting and chatting with Geof. Would love to stay here again some day!

1 night at A Canyon Stay with Mini A-frame
Kate's land was beautiful, and the mini a-frame was so sweet and special. There has been a lot of thought put into the space. A nice balance of amenities offered, including yummy instant coffee! (like, really good instant coffee?!), kitchen needs and charcoal grill, hot shower, composting toilet and all the things you need to feel cozy to go to sleep. At the same time, we still lost cell phone service and were out in some degree of wilderness.
I would definitely recommend staying here!
