We live on ten acres tucked in the pines at the foot of the Sapphire mountains with views west of the broad Bitterroot Valley and the stunning Bitterroot Mountains. Only a mile behind our house is a state wildlife management area and beyond that National Forest and then the Welcome Creek Wilderness. We have a greenhouse and garden on site but our major vegetable growing operation is down in the valley. Lots of wildlife travel through our lot, including a number of owls. In our first five years here we have seen five different owl species, which gives the cabin its name! We have two resident cats and a blue heeler, along with chickens who free roam and you will likely meet.Nestled in the pines with a beautiful view of the Bitterroot Mountains, this 200 Square foot cabin has a cozy sleeping loft, deck, kitchenette with propane stove(propane provided) and woodstove(wood provided). Potable water available from a sink behind the cabin. There is an outhouse available, as well as a picnic table and fire pit (not available during fire season). While the cabin is standalone, it is about 100 yards from our house in full view, so not 100% private. Parking is available a short walk from the cabin. Halfway between Hamilton and Missoula, we are located about 45 minutes drive from each, and about 10 minutes off the main highway. The last 3 miles to the cabin are a dirt road, but 4wd is not necessary.  NOTE: This is a loft, so renters must be able and comfortable to use a ladder! There is a small fold out couch on the ground level, but there is still a step to get up in the cabin.  Cabin does not have power, please bring your headlamps! Candles and some back up flashlights provided.   Cabin sleeps 3, but feel free to bring sleeping pads and in that case a couple more could snug up in the loft, or out on the deck!

The little cabin felt so homey and cozy! Beautiful mountain views to wake up to, and you can tell they put their whole heart into the build. Five star outhouse too!

FIVE OWL LOFT
We loved staying at the loft on our way through Missoula! A special thank you to Jamie for his awesome CD that he left for us. The whole property is so cute and beautiful and we would definitely return if we're ever passing through again. Thanks so much!!!

Lovely cabin in bitterroot
FIVE OWL LOFT
Beautiful property, we stayed in a little cabin that seemed like it was recently built. Very comfortable, we loved the loft setup and although we didn’t use it, there was a really nice looking propane stove/oven combo in the cabin. They have some friendly chickens and cats on the property (and apparently a friendly blue heeler named blueberry who we unfortunately never got to meet). We will definitely book again next time we are in the bitterroot valley!

FIVE OWL LOFT
We loved our stay at this spot! The loft is super beautiful, with great outdoor seating and views. We made ourselves a cup of coffee to enjoy on the porch and chatted with the chickens. The drive in itself was so neat and scenic, would go back just for that! The directions were super clear and everything was easy to find. My very only disappointment is not getting to meet Blueberry the Blue Heeler 🤩 Next time.. though we did get to say hello to a very sweet little tabby cat and that was wonderful. 10/10 recommend!

FIVE OWL LOFT
This place was very pretty. Jamie was super communicative and very helpful. He and Angi left produce from their garden for 10 dollars and we got quite a bit. We really enjoyed the chickens, dog and cats visiting us! Only thing that we felt was lacking is that we wish there were curtains over the west side windows as the light shone through the window really badly making it hard to cook. Otherwise 10/10.

Beautiful sunset in the woods

Had a comfortable stay at 5 Owl Loft. Perfect rustic cabin for my wife and I. Jamie was a great host answering any questions, but also was respectful of our privacy, and left us alone. A great place to stay in the Bitteroot.

FIVE OWL LOFT
Very quiet and cute cabin on a homestead! Jamie was very communicative about what to expect before arriving. He told us where to park, suggested bringing a headlamp, set the expectation that it would be hot, etc. Jamie and Blueberry, the dog, were there to greet us on arrival. As mentioned it was pretty hot (mid 90s) when we were there and since the cabin does not have AC and gets afternoon sun the cabin is hot. Jamie had a battery powered fan which helped and on a lower setting the 2nd battery was still going after 7 hours. That being said I'm glad we did not get there earlier in the day. Enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening and the sunset was pretty great that night. On the way in Google maps took us down Hidden Valley Rd but on the way out we took Dry Gulch Rd back to Eastside Hwy which seemed faster. At the very least it had more pavement & was less windy. This cabin does not have electricity which was not mentioned in the listing. Jamie did mention it before we got there so we knew to bring headlamps, and candles were provided for lighting. The cabin seemed to be 90% finished which did not affected function but just was not clear from the pictures. The kitchen was well stocked with all the things and included a 2 burner propane stove/oven. The loft has lots of cool/big windows which were great. The loft was surprisingly roomy, even a tall person could stand up comfortably. Overall good experience.

This property is positively magical! From the mountain views out the top window, the nearby greenhouse, even the pit toilet, it’s full of charm… including some old newspaper art that had us laughing into the wee hours. We’re definitely going to return! Thanks much!
