Situated a little over 4 miles off of Missouri Hwy 185 in the forest are 4 back-in Rv sites all with 50/30/20 Amp electric configured in a circle around a community camp fire. Nearby to State Parks and a bit of a drive to Mark Twain National Forest. This is a self service site.
Bring your own water and an empty lavatory tank. Twin Eagle Lake Campground is located 14 miles away on Hwy 185 and provides a water faucet and dump station for longer stays at an additional expense.
The property has a 4 foot chicken wire fence around it with barb wire on the top and a double gate at the entrance.
All 4 sites can be rented together for group camping or special events if available.
The gravel road can be rough and should keep your significant other away. Drive slowly in a 4x4 or Rear wheel drive vehicle and you should have no problems. The road leading to this property is not meant for front wheel drive vehicles.
The gate has a combo lock on it. You will get the combo after booking your site. This piece of land just finished construction so it may be Summer of 2025 before I can get the grass to grow.
The gate can be left open while a campsite is occupied if all campers agree, but please close the gate and lock it if all sites are empty when you check out.
This is the wilderness, there are bugs, mosquitos, ticks, flys, bees, and things that bite and sting. Please prepare accordingly. By staying on my property, you are waiving any liability for me or any owner of the land.

Grand Army Farm is a family owned working farm. We raise beautiful angora goats for fiber and have chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and meat goats. We serve local restaurants and participate in many local area farmers market.
We pride ourselves in minimizing our carbon footprint, to the extent that we don't own any heavy piece of farm equipment, not even an ATV. The working portion of the game only accounts for 15 % of the land.

Of particular interest is the site of an old moonshine distillery hidden in the woods, a 20 min hike east of your campsite. Legends has it that the moonshine was illicitly produced during Prohibition and sold in the loft of our biggest barn where people would drink and dance the night away.
The property boats of gorgeous mature oak trees, hickory trees and newer cedar stands where nature abounds. Located at the confluence of the Meramec River and Labarque Creek, my place (Matt's Place) is a ridge above a bottomland bowl of sorts.
The old iron truss bridge here is likely built in 1910 and it has a survey marker from 1932.
The creek has a nice little swimming hole, and a beach that is sometimes sand, sometimes, gravel, and sometimes a mix of both with some silt or even mud after a storm. It's peaceful down there to explore in the creek, wade while looking outward to an opening into the Meramec River. It's also fun to stand just at the mouth of the creek in the Meramec River. It's an awesome view upstream or downstream of tree lined banks, rock bluffs, and every now and then, passing boats, canoes, paddle boards, or kayaks. The old iron truss bridge hovers above the meeting of two waters. The water is cool and clean. Some fifty species of fish have been recorded in this creek, the most in all of Jefferson County and St Louis County. The bottomland has two levels, the lower bottoms down by the creek and the upper bottoms about a hundred feet from the creek. The upper bottoms has a clearing like a meadow with mowed grass.
My favorite things to do here include gazing up at a cottonwood tree that must be sixty feet tall. It's leaves in a breeze are like a thousand hands waving hello. The bottomland meadow offers just enough sky to see bats dance in the dusk air between the trees, then fireflies as it gets darker yet. Up top is where I live.
Just five miles off HWY 44 and HWY 109, at Eureka, MO, (30 minutes west of downtown St Louis, 18 minutes from Six Flags) this place sits on a ridge with great views above the Meramec River.

We do our best to allow 1 reservation to stay on site at a time. If only 1 site is requested the others are then blocked to allow guests privacy during their stay. If another person requests to stay and it is booked, we will check with the current reservation for approval. We also allow groups to book and camp together if needed (use both rv pads, or tent camp).
We do offer 50amp and 30amp power options (2 different RV parking sites).
Some people have commented that our driveway entrance seems narrow for larger rigs (Class A's and 5th wheels). We've had 53' long rigs (5th wheels)and 45' (Class A's) pull in and get parked with no issues. You will need to be able to back into a spot for either 50a or 30a service. We do have additional parking available for extra vehicles.
If you have a tow vehicle/toad, you will need to detach prior to arrival. There are 2 trucks stops less than 5 miles away (TA and Pilot) or there is a park with a large parking area off of David Hoekel Parkway you can utilize.
We do offer 20amp power and extension cord for tent campers (either in our tent or can be used in your own tent.
Free cold showers available.
A bundle of firewood is now included for use in provided fire pits in needed/requested.
Outdoor Hot showers available at a charge of $5/person. This includes the use of propane and a portable hot water heater.
Wi-Fi is available during your stay.

We are 5 miles from Wentzville which offers a Walmart, Target, Sams Club, Lowes, Home Depot, multiple grocery stores, Rural King, Charlies and multiple restaurants.
We have a stocked pond with catfish, bluegill, sunfish, largemouth bass, black crappie, carp and turtles. There is a Windmill that aerates the pond (do not climb on it). You can fish the pond must practice CPR (catch photo release). Or you can feed the pond fish & feed out chickens. We will provide the fish food and chicken treats.
There is plenty of wildlife (deer, fox, raccoons, armadillo's, birds, etc.). Deer will walk by the pond and driveway a couple of times a day. We also have a group of free-range chickens and French guineas (eggs may be available during your stay). There are bike trails in the area, paved roads you can ride on to explore, wineries nearby, a petting zoo and pumpkin patch.

We booked the space on super short notice and were super pleased with our stay! Kirk met us in the driveway with water bottles. Very friendly and helpful! We brought our dog with us and there was plenty of space for her to rimo around off-leash. The space included electric hookup and wifi, which was great for a relaxing evening after traveling all day! The property is beautiful and quiet. Highly recommend!

The garden is a very nice touch too, a pleasant oasis retreat from the surrounding area. Location was central to everything my family wanted to visit and easy access to the highway. Would definitely inquire about staying again if we return to the St Louis area.

Spring Lake Ranch is a great low key spot for camping! We love the lake with docks and a small sand area. We enjoy swimming and fishing. The creek at the entry of the campground is a fun place to stop and let the kiddos play.
The camper section is right next to the horses - we love to walk over and see them!
There is also a great winery right up the road that is kid friendly. We packed up the kids and snacks and enjoyed an afternoon there!
The spots could use some maintenance. The weeds were tall. Our campsite didnt have a picnic table, which was a bummer, but we were with friends so we just sat at their site most of the time.
Overall, we love this campground and will continue to return!

Hosts were very communicative and gracious. I appreciated the security measures they had in place (motion sensitive lighting, locked gate, looked like they had security cameras, etc). Standard city noises, nothing that prevented me from resting. Neighborhood is a bit older and worn down, but the property has great access to the highway and other parts of St Louis. Nearby gas stations are within walking distance for any immediate needs. Would stay here again!

Convenient (easy on/off the highway), safe (fenced, gate with lock, and I believe security cameras), level site with full-hook-up off alley and tucked behind residence in a block of downtown St. Louis with other buildings in the area undergoing renovations. Solo, full-time, female traveler and NEVER felt unsafe. Less than 5 miles to Gateway Arch National Park and other major attractions in St. Louis. I had an opportunity to meet Jeff when he stopped by to water the garden. I mentioned that I had driven through several construction zones and my LTV was very dirty. He graciously offered the use the water to spray off my van! He and his wife, Kim are not only extremely knowledgable about St. Louis, but were incredibly generous with their time, messaging me their favorite places to visit, transportation options, and vegan restaurants! Would definitely stay at Urban Surprise anytime I visit St. Louis! Like others have reported the alley is NOT level, so slow speed and GOAL (get out and look) are both important, when backing in or out of the site.

It was a great experience camping at a farm. First time doing that for me. It was a great experience. They have a nice community kitchen where I could chat with other campers. That kitchen had some decaf coffee. I didn't bring any and I thought that was a nice touch. There's a nice pond and a bench for sitting and drinking coffee in the morning, too.

This was my first time camping on a farm. It was awesome! I wish I could've stayed one more day. I was there for three. There are a great variety of campsites, clean and well-maintained. I enjoyed meeting other campers at a communal outdoor kitchen. I spent my mornings at the pond where my dog had the best day of her life.

Everything went well!! It was our second visit and our first time of the season this year. We had problems getting our electric working right and they helped us figure that out. Then, they noticed our water was leaking a lot where we had it hooked up so they helped us fix that which made our water inside the camper flow better than it ever has. We also went horseback riding. It was a super fun time. Our horses were great and our guide, Jonathan, the owner, was awesome! Had a great time talking with him. Everyone tha we talked to was super nice! We will definitely be back!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay! The view was beautiful, and everything was pretty peaceful: I liked that they had a playground right by the fishing area!
