Explore, Banning, Moose Lake, and Father Hennepin State Parks which are all within 30 minutes, and return to the cabin to read, play games, listen to records, have a fire, and relax. The kitchen provides you with everything you need to prepare your meals including a refrigerator, small freezer, stove, oven, cookware, cutting boards, sink, seasonings, oil, and coffee. Water for washing is available from an electric pump faucet in the kitchen, and a brand-new outhouse is located steps from the cabin. The cabin is efficiently heated and cooled with a user-friendly heat pump and gets the cabin to your desired temperature very quickly. Dan bought this property with the intention of growing stone fruits (plums, peaches, apricots and cherries) using sustainable and organic practices because health and wellness matter to them! They are still in the process of improving their property. Many of the building on the property were in poor condition, including the old barn foundation which is now one of Dan and Danielle favorite places to keep cool in the summer. The Farm used to be part of a larger, old farm until one day it was parceled off. It sat vacant for 15 years until I bought it and turned in into an off-grid, working farm. It's now it the seventh season of growing heirloom vegetables, fruit and herbs. Sign up for a farm tour or shop the Farm Shop to stock up on all the local produce + proteins. As a nature-lover, I designated 2 acres to pollinator habitat. Come walk the path through and discover all the critters that like to hang out in this safe haven. Dan greeted us warmly and offered our children the chance to pick an apple from his tree. His farm is gorgeous with vibrant sunsets and a quiet breeze through the grasses. We were very comfortable in the spacious tent and made a cozy bonfire both nights. We highly recommend staying here!

I loved camping in Dan's yurt campsite! The walk from the car is perfect, just long enough to feel like you are really out there camping! The views walking to the bathroom in the fall were just gorgeous! Speaking of the bathroom don't be scared off by the composting toilet. Dan provides plenty of woodchips/sawdust to cover everything up and there is no odor! The bbq grill and bonfire ring are great to have options. The picnic table seats plenty of people. It rained a bit while we were there and everything in the tent stayed dry thanks to the extra plastic Dan has placed over the top of the yurt. Dan is so kind and generous and feels like going over to a friend's house to camp. Can't wait to return next year!

Weekend Trip to The Wooded Retreat/breakfast/spa
We wanted to get out but could not find camping with our trailer so my husband and I stayed in the Little Wooded Cottage. It was lovely. The cabin is super small but really cozy. I loved the mattress! It was incredibly comfortable. The cabin inside had a small chair, a nightstand, filled water jug and a few other small amenities. Outdoors came with a picnic table, fire pit, outdoor lighting and private outhouse ( which we appreciated) This cabin is not tucked away like the other cabins, you are close to the hosts home, but we had full privacy from the hosts and other campers. The cabin is shaded under pine trees and some maples and it was very quiet and serene. You are also within a 20 minute drive to Banning SP or St.Croix SP. I would book again for sure.

Dan was an excellent host, he provided a nice outhouse that was well kept. The tent was the perfect size. And it was gorgeous on his land. I'd go back in a heartbeat. There are plenty of things to do in the area and stores are relatively close if anything is needed.

Dan is a wonderful host and owns some absolutely gorgeous land. I will be back! Be prepared for a small but beautiful hike out to your camp site. Bathrooms are as good as it gets, tents are huge and the bonus of not needing to setup is amazing, and the access to one of the most beautiful state parks is uncanny. If you have the legs for it I would absolutely recommend touring this area on bike. The descent into Taylor’s falls is one of the best in the state, the climb out of the city will have your legs woken up, and the nearby Swedish Immigrant Trail is beautiful especially in the Fall.
