This old homestead belonged to my belated brother Steve, and after he passed unexpectedly, we decided to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for those interested in sharing a peaceful and modest property.

 The old barn is a work in progress to eventually become the base to accommodating more travelers and outdoor enthusiasts as finances permit.

 My son Logan, after having worked in the service industry bartending for 14 years and hosting 100+ global travelers via CouchSurfing out in San Diego, is well-versed in creating an inviting space, enjoying the merits of hard work through the hospitality industry.

Logan is a well-traveled backpacker and together we share 5 1/2 acres here in a bustling little touristy town. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails are available to those wanting to test their trail riding skills.

Wise Woods on Fool Lake

Located at the end of a private road on Fool Lake with wooded mature trees that offer privacy. The lake is quiet and calm.  Fool Lake is a private, environmental lake, with many varieties of fish. Perfect for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and swimming. Boating is allowed up to 40 hp via gated private launch (no tubing or skiing). The land slopes to the lake where you will find small dock and a few stairs into the water. Well for water and electricity available including a 30 amp hookup for RV campers. Large outhouse also has electricity. Minutes away from access to Cuyuna trails, Crosby, and Emily, as well as nearby Nisswa and Crosslake. This central location offers access to any and all amenities. After a day on the trails, in town, or on the water, an evening at the fire pit overlooking the lake is a perfect way to end the day. Wind down, relax and enjoy the trees, lake and nature surrounding you. We expect all guests to respect the neighborhood, lake and nature!
**November to early spring the water access will be winterized and NOT available for use. Any winter camping is at your own digression and snow removal will only be provided on the neighborhood road(s) up to the entrance of the site. Getting into the site could be difficult depending on the snow conditions.**
Note: there is currently a locked camper & small kids house on site not available for use.

RV There Yet Campground

The 80-acre property is carved out of a Norway pine plantation. Sites are approximately 10,000 square ft. in size with about 50 ft. of trees between each site for semi-privacy. We have tried to maintain a balance of nature while making the sites as RV friendly as possible. Although the property is located in the country, it is located along a state highway for easy access and there are three towns and many amenities and recreational venues within 15 minutes drive. Currently no hook-ups, but there is a yard hydrant and dump station. There are also portable restrooms on site.&nbsp;

Winding Woods on Pine River

Located on the Pine River just minutes from Crosby/Ironton with wooded mature trees that offer privacy. The land is quiet and calm. River is clear and varies in depth depending on the season. The Pine River State Water Trail flows gently through the jack pine forests and quiet water of west central Minnesota. The lake and hill country in this area illustrate classic glacial land forms. With easy access to a public launch and within a half mile of the Mississippi River it is a perfect spot for exploring some of Minnesota's greatest waterways, lakes and forests. Property backs up to privately owned conservation land.

Site is mostly primitive with electricity available. Outhouse bathroom.

Access to property is through a unpaved wrap around driveway. This is northern Minnesota in the Forest on a River so please be prepared for bugs and bring the appropriate clothing and bug spray/netting etc. We recommend Deep Woods with Deet!

Minutes away from access to Cuyuna trails, Crosby, Ironton and Emily, as well as nearby Nisswa and Crosslake. This central location offers access to any and all amenities. After a day on the trails, in town, or on the water, an evening overlooking the river is a perfect way to end the day. Wind down, relax and enjoy the trees, water and nature surrounding you.

Pack in and pack out trash/recycling. Keep the forest and animals safe! Please be respectful of the property and the neighbors/neighborhood.  Keep all vehicles and campers off the newly installed drain field and buried septic tank. When leaving please take all trash/recycling with you so it doesn't end up in the water or feeding the wildlife. :) Enjoy the amazing area!

**Please note there is no running water available (well pump not currently working). This is the forest in northern Minnesota so please be prepared for native insects! Snow removal will NOT be provided during the winter. Access to the site may be very difficult depending on the snow conditions.**

Very private 4 acre campsite in stand of Norway Pines and Birch overlooking the 4th Crow Wing Lake.
  -  NOTE: This is now (2023) a single site with two (2) power stands. 
Not off grid, but close to it. There is no potable water, just a peaceful Pine and Birch wooded area overlooking the lake.&nbsp;Ideal if you’re camping with friends/family.&nbsp;Pull your RV's in or pitch a tent and stay as long as you like. 8 miles south of Nevis in the Heartland Lakes area. Adjacent 8 acres of 'Common Use' woods and picnic area with dock for fishing. Or bring a canoe/Kayak to launch. 4th Crow is NOT a recreational lake, but great for fishing, waterfowl and wildlife spotting. Fire pit, picnic table and swing on site. 9 miles from Heartland Biking Trail and within 3 miles of OHV/Snowmobile trails access.

Wonderful public swimming beach 3 miles away on Big Stony Lake.

The Hamlet Lake Homestead

The Hamlet Lake homestead is our 10-acre family home with two unique and private hip-camp sites. The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake.  The Camp on  Hamlet Hill is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back.  We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden.  The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse.  (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill.  Guests can access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included.  At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system.  Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us.  Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.

Lake Placid Family Reunion Camp

Beautiful 8 acre campground on Lake Placid 10 miles west of Brainerd MN.  The Campground has 4 full RV hook ups with power, water and sewer. 1 RV site with power and water.  The water comes from a low flow well that has been tested and is potable.  It is great to fill your RV tanks.  There is also several level areas for tents.
There are 2 fire rings for camp fires a propane and charcoal grill.  The campground has a dock to access the lake and Crow Wing river.  There is approximately 25 steps down the bank to the dock.  The steps are newer but steep, If you choose to use them you do so at your own risk.  

Fish Trap Oasis

Come relax and restore at a quiet lakeside camp spot on Fish Trap Lake! The property is perfect for any small group fishermen, campers or RVers who want private lake views. 

The property is next to a government nature preserve and located near various cabins. Fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing and swimming can all be enjoyed on Fish Trap Lake. We are less than a mile from the boat launch on Lake Alexander which is great for fishing. A dock is also on the property for lake access.

Toad Creek Camping

A century farm located in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. The property features a hobby farm, abundant wildlife, woods, fields, pastures, and ponds. Conveniently located near area lakes and trails, about 20 miles from the nearest town.

Bike in bike out from this private single unit campsite located in the Cuyuna Range, tucked between Ironton and Riverton.

Get away and enjoy the many outdoor activities in the Cuyuna Lakes Area including: Hiking, Cycling, Mountain biking, Off-roading, Scuba diving, Canoeing, Trout fishing and more.

Travel trailer

We stayed here with another family and had a ton of fun. We had a 27’ travel trailer and they had an ice castle. It wasn’t too bad to get them both situated and set up. Kids had a blast running around and biking up and down the long driveway. Very close and convenient to downtown DL for something to do. Quiet area, with minimal neighbors. Picnic table and fire pit were nice add one. Everything listed worked well  and there were no surprises.

The Hippie Hideaway Camp & Trails

Hi welcome to The Hippie Hideaway.

Let me tell you a little bit about what you will get to enjoy. My main goal is for you to feel free, relaxed, and reenergized. You will have a huge open area for you and your family to enjoy spending time together without sharing your experience with strangers. You can enjoy the watching the northern lights and star gazing. We have about a mile of walking trails that whined around a few sloughs and into a prairie where you will see a variety of wildlife, butterflies, and native plants.

Shell and Island Lake are both within a few miles, The Tamarac Refuge is also just a few miles away. The Smokey Hills and Two Inlets 4 wheeling trails are also close. and Itasca State Park is about a 45min drive. 

Our property offers several different landscapes perfect for pictures.
We have a variety of animals that wonder onto our property including deer, bear, otters, and raccoons.

Welle's Campsite

40 acres of peaceful hunting land with a mixture of woods, swamp, hay fields, and a permanent campsite established in the corner. Plenty of room for parking and multiple campers/tents. Campsite is well maintained and has 30 amp hookups, a picnic table, fire ring, and an outhouse to use.

Crosby-Rabbit River Retreat

Come enjoy all the wonderful outdoor activities that Crosby Mn and the Cuyuna Recreation area have to offer while enjoying your own private, wooded RV campsite with electric and wifi!

We have a single RV gravel camping spot that includes electric 50/30/120. Spot is level for 24 foot Rvs but can fit up to 31 with some leveling.

 Private spot offers a view of the Rabbit River and a quiet bay of Littel Rabbit lake. There is access to Littel Rabbit Lake and the Mississippi river for kayakers via the river channel, water level permitting. Camping spot offers a private view, private seating area and use of fire ring to enjoy the peaceful quiet woods, water and wildlife around the property shoreline.

Property is a short ride from the Cuyuna State bike trail, Sagamore Unit recreation area, Mahnomen unit, MRT trail system, mine lakes with excellent swimming, site is a 6 mile ride to Crosby and the Portsmouth unit area. Crow Wing Portage trail a 1/2 mile walk up the road. Crosby's restaurant, brewery and shops are 10 minutes away, Brainerd is 15 minutes approximately for even more entertainment and shopping opportunities. 

Please note this is an adults only site. This is a great option for a couple or single camper looking for a quiet, private RV camping spot to enjoy easy access to the area trails and mine lakes.
