The Pine River State Water Trail flows gently through the jack pine forests and quiet water of west central Minnesota. The lake and hill country in this area illustrate classic glacial land forms. With easy access to a public launch and within a half mile of the Mississippi River it is a perfect spot for exploring some of Minnesota's greatest waterways, lakes and forests. Property backs up to privately owned conservation land. Site is mostly primitive with electricity available. Outhouse bathroom. Access to property is through a unpaved wrap around driveway. This is northern Minnesota in the Forest on a River so please be prepared for bugs and bring the appropriate clothing and bug spray/netting etc. We recommend Deep Woods with Deet! Minutes away from access to Cuyuna trails, Crosby, Ironton and Emily, as well as nearby Nisswa and Crosslake. This central location offers access to any and all amenities. After a day on the trails, in town, or on the water, an evening overlooking the river is a perfect way to end the day. Wind down, relax and enjoy the trees, water and nature surrounding you. There is a fire pit on site with free split firewood. We are located 5 minutes south of Garrison, and 5 minutes north of Grand Casino Mille Lacs, and right across the road from Northwood Hills golf course with Charlie’s Bar & Grill. To launch your boat there are public water accesses to the north and south.

Weekend Trip to 🌿 Oak Crest RV Getaway

We enjoyed our stay so much! This is a lovely, quiet spot. Easy to find, but no highway noise. Check in was straightforward with great communication from the hosts. You can see the other sites, but they are comfortably separated. Beautiful sunset view from under the giant old oak tree shading our little camper. We were so happy to have had the opportunity to stay and would definitely recommend.

3 nights at The Outpost Collective

Brett’s land is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. The site has big beautiful trees, and we were fortunate enough to be there in the autumn to watch the leaves fall. It is wonderfully quiet and dark at night, making this spot a stargazer’s paradise. Brett’s pride of ownership is apparent by all the work that has been done to the property. We will definitely go back.

This is indeed a camping spot to be proud of! Obviously much thought went into to creating this amazing spot. A nicely decorated and maintained huge space, evergreens planted for even more privacy, generous DRY wood supply, super clean outhouse with light, table with bench and electricity. The hayfields were mowed and our dog sure enjoyed running over it. There is even a path through the woods. One of our favorite hipcamps, we would love to return.

1 night at Xtreme Hideout

Nice secluded spot with easy access to hiking trails. Some reviews mentioned the nearby road - it’s true that it’s close, but we didn’t find it bothersome at all. Traffic was light, and it didn’t interfere with enjoying a peaceful evening. One small thing I noticed (more of a seasonal observation than a complaint): the oak trees were dropping acorns on the car throughout the stay. It added a little bit of extra nervousness for me, but that’s just part of late summer camping in most parts of Minnesota :( and thankfully, the car came out unscathed Overall, it was a lovely stay. Thank you to the host if I head to Cuyuna again, I’d be happy to return.

As described, this was a scenic spot on the river. Nice grassy spots for tenting and sitting by the fire. Upgraded port-a-potty was a pleasant surprise. We had a small boat on a trailer but I wouldn’t haul in anything bigger.

We lived camping on Randy’s land. It was so spacious and made the 4 campers plus the tents have plenty of space and kids loved fishing off the docks all day long. Tons of grass areas for the dogs to run and play.
