While only 15 minutes from downtown Manistee, this gorgeous spot in the heart of the Little Manistee River corridor is the only way to truly experience the “spirit of the woods.”

Once the location of a ski resort, this property was bought up by the competition and dismantled. Sitting on top of the old ski hill, this 10 acre property now offers a beautiful view of Barney Lake and the surrounding state forest. This property is situated near a dirt road that leads directly into hundreds of miles of off-road trails and state forest, yet is close enough to town (7 miles) to enjoy the local establishments.
Please note: we do not have access to the lake from the property, but there are plenty of other lakes and rivers in the area to enjoy!
Houghton Lake is a very popular area for off-road/ATV’s, so it’s very likely you will hear quads, side-by-sides, and/or dirt bikes during your stay as they ride by on the public road.

Nice spot with a concrete pad not too far from 31. A bit of road noise, but it quieted down at night. I was there for a quick stay, so, unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to enjoy the trails.

Our long weekend at Barney Lake Vista was everything we hoped for and more. The fall colors were absolutely stunning — miles and miles of golden and red trees surrounding the lake. The site itself was private, peaceful, and perfectly maintained. Even the toilet was spotless and just the right distance from camp.
The sounds of nature were constant and comforting — birds chirping all day, a few gobbling turkeys, and at night, the distant howls of what we think was a pack of coyotes. My wife joked they were celebrating something. It was beautiful to listen to, far enough away to keep the night peaceful.
The night sky was incredible — so many stars, it felt magical. Our two senior dachshunds loved it too, especially soaking up the sun in the crisp fall air.
Adam and Sarah were wonderful hosts — friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. They even dropped off a bunch of dry wood after a rainy day without us asking. It made our nights by the fire perfect.
Having grocery stores just 10 minutes away was super convenient, too. Overall, this spot is everything you want for a relaxing, scenic getaway — quiet, beautiful, and full of nature’s charm. We can’t wait to come back! 🌲🔥

It was a pleasure staying at Brookhollow! The site was very private, and the sound of the running water with river view was so relaxing. Everything was well equipped. The stairs from the parking spot down to the river's edge campsite were a bit of a work out, but very manageable. It also gave a nice separation of privacy from the main property to the campsite.
Highly recommended! Would absolutely come back!

We had an amazing romantic getaway at Adam and Sara’s Barney Lake Vista. The overlooking view showcased the stunning fall colors across the landscape, creating a breathtaking backdrop for our stay. In the morning, we were delighted to see a flock of turkeys running through the open field below, adding to the charm of the location. The directions were easy to follow and find, ensuring a hassle-free arrival. The outhouse was perfectly clean, and putting the truck in four-wheel drive made easy work getting up the approach. Overall, it was a perfect weekend getaway.

We loved camping here! Barb was very helpful and available to us all weekend! Very scenic and peaceful. Everything was detailed out for us perfectly before we left in the pdf sent to us, only thing I'd add is that you have to turn right at the end of the driveway road to get to the property. Highly recommended!

Deer Path was a perfect get away for us. I was a little nervous about having neighbor's so close, but there was no need. The set up of the site and full hook ups felt very private. We loved sitting by the river and watching a Blue Heron fishing in the river as well as watching a herd of a dozen deer cross the river 100 feet from us. Megan stopped by to confirm that everything was perfect for our stay and it was. I highly reccommend this location with no reservations!

My husband and I rented a site here for our anniversary and we had a great time! The owner was very welcoming and super chill!
The showers and restrooms are very clean and smelt good.
We will bring our kids here too since there’s an open area with things for kids to do and places for parents to hang out!
We came up to ride the trails and there are plenty of spots to start that fun!
