In the 1950's, the property was a drive-in motel called the 'Harbert Motel'. We are 13 minutes from South Haven and the lake. 30 minutes from the city of Kalamazoo. And just under an hour from Grand Rapids. About half of the 20 acres is wooded, which is where three of our camp sites, Hammock Haven are located. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table. Three camp sites are located in the pasture. One is at the bottom of the pasture (1) and quite open. It can accommodate larger groups with multiple tents. It can also take a larger RV. A more secluded site (5) is half open and half in light woods., and is located at the top of the pasture. The others are in the middle of the pasture, 2 for sun lovers and 3 for those who prefer more shade. For those who prefer more seclusion, we have cleared three sites in the woods. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. Some have fire wood boxes (we’re working on making a box for all sites). We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. This is free. A coffee bar is on the back deck. Coffee is brewing around 7am. We also provide hot water, teas, hot chocolate and cider. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack. This is all free, though small donations are welcomed. Our goats, poultry, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs and produce take up about an acre and a half. Then the rest is open space. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (additional fee). Use the BBQ or smoker. And even join in on farm chores if you are so inclined. Please try to plan to check-in by 9pm. Exceptions can be made. There are locally mandated quiet hours (10-7 Sun through Thur, and 11-7 Fri and Sat). Hanging out by a fire and chatting is fine.

Oh man! What an amazing place. Great private spot, great host, very accommodating and friendly, would 100% stay here again. Definitely a back in site as advertised we had a 30 foot travel trailer. But It was not too bad to navigate. Concrete drive and level. Very quiet the whole week. Duck hunting season was happening during our visit so the mornings but I actually enjoyed listening to that in the morning while walking the dog. Great outdoors experience, quiet neighborhood

We had a wonderful stay. Nice to have a getaway like this so close to the city. We enjoyed the site- absolutely beautiful view of ponies and goats. Camper was worn and comfortable and very well stocked. There’s some highway noise but it becomes like white noise- I didn’t notice it really. The host was incredibly nice and helpful and communicative. We hope to return.

The property is very well maintained. It is a lovely property and Earl and Lisa were very responsive checking in on me to be sure I had firewood and delivering my eggs. It was nice having a hot shower and the bathroom was squeaky clean. I would definitely recommend this Hip Camp.

I don't know where to begin? The place was beautiful upon entry! Beautiful cats to play with everywhere! My son was in heaven :-) we made great friends with a black kitty named Olivia. She hung out with us while we were camping and even shared some of our breakfast eggs! The pathways were lit at night, the TP that we stayed in was and beautiful condition, clean, well stocked with cleaning supplies and a trash can if needed. We had a bundle of wood that was plentiful! The staff was extremely helpful getting me to my site and making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed! There are vegetables for sale, as well as delicious salsa! The property is extremely well kept and beautiful to look at! Very serene. We had our own fire pit and picnic table also. The campsites were very private, which I really liked. I was very happy that I did not have to share a fire pit with other campers. This was a last-minute trip for my son's 11th birthday and well worth the drive from detroit! We will definitely be back with the rest of the family! I highly recommend two chicks and a farm!

My wife and I stayed two nights on the farm and had a very pleasant stay. We got to see and interact with a lot of different animals and appreciate the 2 Chicks caring for so many. Campsite was ample and mostly private. Restroom facilities not too far from site and clean. We’d recommend them for anyone interested in an experience a little different from the norm.

We had such a wonderful three-night stay! The hosts were absolutely exceptional—so welcoming and kind that by the time we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends. They went above and beyond, even providing toys and activities for our 15-month-old, which made the trip extra special for her. The amenities were fantastic, from the well-equipped outdoor kitchen to their thoughtful help with a few things we had forgotten to pack. The campsite itself was private and beautifully maintained, with peaceful trails to walk and explore right from our spot. Our toddler loved playing with the fun animals on the property and had the best time, and honestly, so did we. This was such a memorable trip, and we’re so grateful to have found such amazing hosts!

Very cool little campground. You can tell they have put some work into making a beautiful space. There is a pond in the center with lots of ducks, geese, cranes, etc. they also have a shower house with flush toilets, shower, sink for dishes, and trash. They even have some nice walking trails. Sites were pretty private and even if the place was full you would still have more privacy than most state parks. There is definitely some highway noise since they are so close to 30 but if you don’t mind that I would definitely recommend staying here!

Such an incredible spot! The owners used their tractor to haul my stuff over to the entrance of my campsite! Very grateful for how friendly and flexible they were! They had a fire going for me when I arrived so I wouldn’t have to set it up in the dark. Loved the location and setup!

I had a great experience at Earl and Lisa’s camp! They were very quickly communicative and Lisa waited to show me to my campsite, despite me booking late at night. The camping areas were very well maintained and the bathroom was equally clean! The trails through the wooded areas were perfect to walk off a long drive and run some of my dogs energy off. Also, if you’re someone who enjoys stargazing, this is a great place for it!

Was a wonderful place to rest our weary bodies after 12 days on road. Last stop before home. Earl and Lisa's place is wonderful. Park like setting with duck pond, stacks of wood waiting for us, and cute out house with shower and toilet. We were only ones there due to end of season and had full hook up site and it was perfect. Little road nose but really didn't really bother us.
