1 night at Sheepy Acres

I had a wonderful time at Sheepy Acres staying in a Shepherd's Hut. Everywhere Titus has infused his place with whimsy, love of nature, and thoughtfulness for those who visit. There is a walking trail, pond for swimming, a fountain, water slide, rock climbing wall, pool toys and numerous tire swings. Each site reflects Titus's talent for creative building and design. You have cooking pits, firewood, picnic tables and benches. There are toilets, showers and solar lights to add some fun! Play "Eye Spy" to find marshmallow forks and many more surprises! The camping area is beautiful and pleasant - fun to explore with the hundreds of trees that Titus planted, a bounty of birds and finches, his sheep, some kittens and wildflowers and plants that sparkle with fire flies like a magic field in the evening. This is a wonderful place for family gatherings, good friends and those that want to enjoy nature in a unique and special way! Thank you, thank you!

This is the best independently owned place I’ve ever stayed. Quiet, tucked away, super clean and tons of attention to detail. The host has thought of everything. The sheep were such a fun signature touch. Well cared for stock. Very pretty grounds. Fireflies everywhere when I visited in July. I hope to stay again!

Great quiet spot for a weekend away. Titus checked to make sure I had what I needed for a comfortable stay. Sites are far enough apart that you don't really notice other campers. Tent pad was big enough for a 3 person tent and probably larger. Close to local attractions.

Sandra was fantastic! Her space was absolutely beautiful and she set us up with everything we needed. As her first stay, she was still setting up the kitchen area, but the tent and bathhouse was stocked and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. A few thunderstorms occurred while we stayed and did not have any issues with water leaking or wetness inside the tent. Our dogs loved running around and having space to explore. It was so nice waking up and sitting in the deck watching the turkeys and horses. We will most definitely be back when visiting family.

To start the directions were easy and Shari and David were there to great us. They have a couple hundred acres and the camp site is in the back 40... which they led the way to our beautiful spot by the river. There were plenty of parking options for our trailer to which we backed in under the trees. There is fresh water, picnic table, fire pit and garbage can. There are kayaks available for use in the river...WOW! Sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. It is completely hidden from any civilization. Great place to camp!

This is our second stay at the cabin. Love the new RV style shower and toilet on the property. Swimming hole just outside the cabin. Convenient parking right next to the cabin. Love the picnic table, fire pit with grate and included firewood. Lots of trees for hammocks. Great ventilation with windows, electricity allows for charging, lights. There is a mini fridge and fan. Bed is very comfortable. Love love this place. Sweet kitty and her mama came to visit. The host is just the absolute best. Super responsive to help with anything. Actually remembered us from last year and where we had camped before. Love the surrounding Amish towns. Such a great get away!

First of all, Titus is a great host. He showed us around so we knew where everything was. He was always available if we needed something and he also told us we could message him if we needed anything. We really liked the shepherds hut. It has a loft to sleep in. Under the loft, there's a bench that turns into twin bed. A small table, shelf , and stool. It's a great place to talk, play games, watch nature. The sheep are great. They watch over you all night . When my daughter and I walked by, they were standing in huddle watching us.

Shari and David were incredible hosts. If you want a no frills, beautiful, private, and unique stay, stay here. We will absolutely seek to stay here again if we are in the area. We had travel troubles and didn’t arrive until midnight and they stayed awake to meet us and guide us to our spot. We were grateful for their hospitality, flexibility, and understanding. For a total of 13 options. 2Chicks And A Farm is a small working farm on 20 acres, owned and run by Julie and Theresa Graham. We are 13 minutes from South Haven and the lake. 30 minutes from the city of Kalamazoo. And just under an hour from Grand Rapids. About half of the 20 acres is wooded, which is where three of our camp sites, Hammock Haven are located. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table. One site, capable of taking a mid sized RV / Fifth Wheel, is located on the front of the property with easy access from the road. It backs up to some trails and brush/wood area and has a corn field to the right. So, even though on the front on the property, you have a feeling of privacy. It too has a fire pit and picnic table. Three camp sites are located in the pasture. One is at the bottom of the pasture (1) and quite open. It can accommodate larger groups with multiple tents. A more secluded site (5) is half open and half in light woods., and is located at the top of the pasture. The others are in the middle of the pasture, 2 for sun lovers and 3 for those who prefer more shade. For those who prefer more seclusion, we have cleared three sites in the woods. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. Some have fire wood boxes (we’re working on making a box for all sites). We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. This is free. A coffee bar is on the back deck. Coffee is brewing around 7am. We also provide hot water, teas, hot chocolate and cider. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack. This is all free, though small donations are welcomed. Our goats, poultry, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs and produce take up about an acre and a half. Then the rest is open space. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (additional fee). Use the BBQ or smoker. And even join in on farm chores if you are so inclined. Please try to plan to check-in by 9pm. Exceptions can be made. There are locally mandated quiet hours (10-7 Sun through Thur, and 11-7 Fri and Sat). Hanging out by a fire and chatting is fine.

Kalamazoo Haven

Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way). We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option. We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy. We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where is an appropriate place to leave it. At some point during the summer of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. It will have solar power and an indoor compost toilet, with a stove and sink. It will host a single or a couple who can sleep on a full sized mattress. Another sleeping area may be offered from converting the table, but we are not sure how comfortable it will be until we've completed the renovation.

Learn more about this land: Our little slice of heaven is nestled back off the country road- with over 30 acres, we have a couple of old horse pastures and barns, a beautiful grassy area that has a large fire pit and a natural pond. Some wood is provided for your initial fire; more can be purchased from us for $5 per bundle. We have basic electricity, a country swing, a dock if you would like to fish- we also have nice grassy walking paths and a wooded area as well. Our land is very peaceful and safe. The perfect space to unplug and unwind and to recharge yourself. While we do only consider our space one site, it is large enough for groups as big as 30 ppl, with plenty of room to set up tents in your desired areas. Campers and trailers are welcome, with limited size requirements and space; we also restrict where they can be parked. We are very close to several rivers in the area, so bring your kayaks, or inner tubes and float down the rivers for a peaceful afternoon. We’re not too far from Lake Michigan (easy day trip), Kalamazoo or Lansing, Several breweries in the area- (Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and Marshall) as well as a casino (Marshall). We are in a very nice happy medium to a lot of Michigan favorite spots. Come and enjoy the quiet country- and get some amazing star lit skies.
