First time using Hipcamp and it did not disappoint…Robin was absolutely amazing…her property was very peaceful…it was my first time ever camping and was the most perfect and safest place to get started. She was extremely helpful and even shared some asparagus with me ❤️. I hope to return in the future

We had a fantastic Labor Day weekend camping at Robin's site! This was my boyfriend’s first time ever camping, and it couldn’t have been better. The site provided just the right amount of privacy, and Robin and her son showed incredible hospitality throughout our stay. The indoor bathroom facility was immaculate, giving us the perfect blend of rustic and modern camping vibes. The fishing was also great!
Robin’s three dogs were very friendly and lively, but she was prompt in putting them up when we wanted some quiet time around the campfire, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend this site for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

Robin was a great host! She came out to introduce herself, gave us a little tour, and taught us about poison ivy so we would know what to look for. She also took note of things we liked to do and gave us suggestions of things in the area. They had wood provided, offered farm fresh eggs, and fishing opportunities galore! At night, it was almost as dark the dark sky parks we've been to for beautiful night sky viewing. The paddle boat was also fun to take around the lake. Very gracious host, very beautiful property, and a very relaxing stay. We are hoping to stay again soon!

This place is awesome! pulled our van right into a grassy patch across from the lake. Robin was wonderful and so friendly. We can't wait to come back!!

First time campers so this was perfect for us. Robin warmly greeted us as we pulled in and made us feel very welcomed. She recommended a beautiful spot for our tent. We enjoyed fishing, using the paddle boat, the trail, having our own campfire with wood generously provided and looking at the beautiful lake. The homestead is just lovely and there’s been a lot of time and care invested into the property. The experience was fantastic. Highly recommend. Robin was on site and seemed to know just when to lend a hand. But we didn’t feel like we were being watched. Very private. There was some traffic noise but it was Saturday night and it didn’t diminish our stay. Great location 5 mins from gas and Dollar General.

Right on the water, with a dock and a very nice paddle boat available for our use. There was shady areas throughout the day except maybe for a couple hours when the sun was highest. Lots of large mouth bass. Plump bGills. Bathroom and shower were available for use, but we didn’t use it. We’re just not the type to approach someone’s home. Feels intrusive lol but we’re fine with rustic anyway. Garbage can available got use was nice. I feel bad about leaving fish remains in it. Hiking trail was quite nice although needs slight upkeep.
Portage river so close by. Convenient location to several towns.
Site was close to the home but far enough that we felt we did have privacy- which was really cool. The owners both seemed like great people. The nature sounds at night were in perfect symphony. We had a screen roof so we slept under a perfect view of the stars. Our purpose there was to just get away from home for a short while, and this place really hit the spot!

Robin's property was incredible. Her house sits right on a personal lake with plenty of space around it. She was incredibly generous, offering use of a kayak, a paddle boat, and a handful of fresh farm eggs. The house bathroom which is open to guests was well kept and very spacious. The woodpile was well stocked. Robin is blending a camping experience with a bed and breakfast hospitality experience to form something new.
We mainly used the property as a base to explore Michigan, but I could easily hung out there as a relaxing staycation.

I loved camping at Pondoor Lake. The property is gorgeous and Robin is an excellent host.
We were able to hike around the pond, which is more like a small lake, and there was a paddle boat available for use.
Our site is close to the road however we never noticed as the tree line was a great barrier to the minimal traffic that traveled through. The area felt private, nestled in the trees next to the pond which had a pier to go sit and splash your feet. Nothing but the sounds of peace and frogs at night.
We loved it and plan on returning.

It was great tent camping here. There was kayaking available, a portable campfire for my personal use, and some dogs that were very friendly and fun to play with. Would definitely recommend.

Pondor Lake ... a place to ponder
I'm not sure which I enjoyed more - the site or the host! Robin is the perfect host - generous, friendly, and respectful. The site was AMAZING. A great shady spot for our teardrop right next to the large pond with the sound of frogs at night and birds during the day, access to Robin's kayaks to paddle the river just a few miles away, quiet country roads to ride our bikes, beautiful landscaping and dock to relax on, and the friendliest dogs you've ever met. As a camper, I especially appreciated access to the indoor full bath. My husband and I would love to return.

A very lovely place. I came up on this place because I was I was in the process of starting my life over, it was cheaper than a motel and a lot better view. The host Robin went above and beyond what was necessary to accommodate me. I can't wait to go back in Spring and Summer when the plant life will make everything that much more beautiful.

I really enjoyed camping on Robin’s land. Their view was amazing and campground was quiet and peaceful. The view of the lake was perfect and we were able to get some great pictures during our trip. The dogs and cats were very friendly and tame and really helped make this a very fun and memorable experience. Robin is extremely friendly and responsive and an excellent host she even helped us find an amazing event nearby to attend while we were there. We are definitely planning to come back again it was a great time!

PHENOMENAL camping experience! The camp grounds were absolutely pristine and beautiful. There was a guest house that operates as an airbnb providing amenities like showering, dining space with kitchen, and bedroom. We elected to go old school camping (my buddy and I are NOT campers and thus had limited camping experience). Ponder Lake afforded us with an excellent opportunity to re-enter the world of camping.
There are several camp grounds, all of which share the breathless Pondor Lake. There were opportunities for kayaking, paddle boating, fishing, hiking, nature watching (and of course outdoor camping in a wooded area). We did not take advantage of these resources as we were primarily focused on traditional camping. Locally, the supermarket was near (Myer's), and we visited a lovely bar named "Cowboy UP" that plays country music, has a live band, and teaches line dancing. This was my first time line dancing and it was a blast!
Robin has a genuine, passionate, and kind heart that is reflected in the upkeep of her property and the inspirational dog sanctuary she manages. The rescue dogs she boards were cared for and loved. We even had a cat who stayed with us on the camp grounds who protected us from insects, lol. Robin went the extra mile to make our experience memorable and was unspeakably hospitable . If you are looking for a great and memorable camping experience, look no further! I recommend Ponder Lake with no reservations, and I look forward to our return trip!

Pondor Lake ... a place to ponder
There really are no words to describe the feeling of welcome and generosity Robin extended when staying at her stunning property. Camping on her seven acre lake was unbelievable, amazing, traquil and unique but her hospitality generosity and kindness made our stay amazing. It was such a treat to be shuttled to the put-in to spend the afternoon in a lazy kayak journey … the pontoon boat on the lake was serene … and we spent our time there feeing so well cared for on what can only be described as ‘a slice of heaven’. We feel fortunate that we have met a friend in Michigan and can’t wait to go back.
