Shady Corner Camp - Tents & Campers
Dark and quiet retreat close to Metro Detroit. It's so nice to have the grass trails for walks. I had friendly visitors to my site: a sweet cat and a flock of curious chickens and guineas. It was my second trip here and I enjoy it very much.

Hilltop Hangout - Tents & Hammocks
Camp on the high ground.
The Hilltop Hangout is a great spot for tent camping in lower Michigan. It offers a nice view of the surrounding forests and easy access to trails. The nearby flower bed adds to the vista, and its a terrific spot for full moon rises. Doug and Kat are great, friendly hosts. Doug told me that they will improving the site soon, adding a true outhouse to replace the compost toilet. Our only hiccup was that no firewood was available on premise, as expected. So visitors should check that with Doug or Kat before arriving. Wood was available for a reasonable amount from a convenience store a few miles up the road.

Hilltop Hangout - Tents & Hammocks
Kat and Doug were great camping hosts! The site is beautiful and we loved the goats and chickens. The bugs were abundant and the compost toilet is not super ideal, but that’s how rustic camping goes. The nearby bike trails, lakes, and little downtown area make for a lovely stay!

Shady Corner Camp - Tents & Campers
Private, shady spot to camp. Has a very organic and rustic feel. The composting toilet lacks privacy, but does the trick. Doug was very friendly. If you plan to buy firewood from them, check ahead, they were out when we arrived so we ran to a gas station to buy wood. Bring your bug spray, not too terrible, just typical of the time of year. We were just passing through, but would love to check out the charming nearby town of Chelsea in the future. Oh, and we really enjoyed visiting the goats and chickens!

Cozy and Peaceful
Beautiful little spot that was incredibly easy to find thanks to detailed directions from host. Space was perfect for my car and little teardrop and easy to get in and out. Site was very pretty, right along the woods and secluded. Will definitely be back!

Incredible!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! The campsite was very clean and had a great view of a wooded valley below with a hiking path if you wanted to explore it yourself. There are also a lot of other points of interest in the area. We visited the nearby DTE hiking trail, Pickerel lake, and the town of Hell in our one full day out. The goats and chickens are always open for visits too to cure some boredom. We were visited by the two dogs on the farm and also a cat from another nearby farm which was another awesome surprise. The hosts were very kind and offered help with figuring out activities nearby so don’t be afraid to ask them for things to do. Hoping to find an excuse to make my way back!

Lovely Quiet Weekend
There is a second site but as we were the only campers there for the weekend, we found it to be very peaceful and quiet. Great bike trails nearby as well as the small town of Chelsea. Goats, chickens and the neighbors cat (I believe) stopped by to say hi but were not at all bothersome or noisy. Definitely recommend.

Lovely site!
Shady Corners is so dreamy! We enjoyed two nights and hope to come back again. The site is huge and very private. We saw so many butterflies and dragonflies, plus hawks and even the tiniest hummingbird. We explored the property and took advantage of the swing on the hilltop. We also checked out the nearby B2B trail. The host, Doug, was friendly and pleasant to chat with.

It was a perfect 2 day getaway for my 6 year old and I. Stunning property. My son loved the goats and chickens and appreciate the hosts taking the time to show them to him. Peonies were in Blume and smelled fantastic.

Doug was super friendly and welcoming. My dog and I mostly had the place to ourselves. The campsite had everything we needed. We enjoyed day trips to hike and swim at Pinckney Rec Area.

Hilltop Oasis
The hilltop oasis was everything we could have asked for and more! The photos, as beautiful as they are, somehow still don't do it justice! The view is as relaxing as can be. We had two 13-year-olds in tow and we turned off the phones for the weekend. The girls laid in the hammocks and read, played cards, volleyball... it was the perfect detox! The hammocks, carefully placed in the shade, allowed the perfect amount of shade and breeze on an otherwise hot day. We could have stayed in them all day. Kat and Doug were amazingly helpful. I was unable to nail down the details of our weekend before heading up and they gave us suggestions about the area and even brought up coffee and let the girls feed the chickens. My asking for those extras was a little last minute but they were still able to accomodate us which I greatly appreciated! We went kayaking through Hell's Canoes & Kayaks - hightly recommend! We hope to be back sooner rather than later. Knowing this hilltop oasis exists just an hour drive away makes me feel happy inside. :-) Thank you so much!

We'll be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed this site! Super pre-camp communication and directions, idyllic farm setting butting up to county park land. Composting toilet was fine, water was easily accessible and they ran a cord from the barn at our request for electricity. My fav parts? Well, besides the goats, I loved chatting with host's family about the farm's history. Oh, and loved not having 4G reception.

Coffee delivery?! Yes please!
Pretty camp site. Handy water, potty and firewood. Be sure to walk the turf trails down to the pond for a beautiful sunrise. But the best part was getting delicious coffee delivered right to my table in the morning. Luxury! It is worth the small surcharge.

Why camp anywhere else!
Excellent service. Ask and they are willing to help anyway they can. Directions were clear and accurate. Nice family. Plenty of privacy and space to explore. Beautiful views for Campsite and fire pit. Nice to be disconnected. Playing with the goats was a huge plus for us! It was our 2nd stay and we plan to come back again!

My boyfriend and I camped here for one night to test out our new tent for the season! This camp site was way more than expected and we were very pleased with our stay! The hosts are very nice and even recommended some fishing and hiking spots. The views from on top of the hill are awesome and the sunrise is even better! We would stay again!

Yaaasssssss.
I don't even want to give away how cool this place was! I was looking for a quiet, solitary spot, and this site totally exceeded my expectations for that. Introverts in search of quiet & fire step on up. Don't miss sunrise on the upper hill, y'all... I'm telling you your life will be enriched from that day forward. Totally plan on being back.

Beautiful hilltop oasis!
This is a great place! We were looking for a campsite pretty close to Ann Arbor for the weekend with another family and I’m so glad we decided to give Hipcamp and this site a try. Plenty of space for two tents, possible to drive up for easy unloading, beautiful hilltop views, picnic table, a fire pit and dry firewood, nice people, chickens and two friendly goats. Campsite bathroom is a basic composting toilet in an old barn - not the highlight but fine and no problem. The campsite connects to a mile-long loop through a nature preserve that is beautiful! Easy walk with dogs and gorgeous little pond. We heard coyotes, saw geese and herons, saw deer. Really neat spot in pretty secluded area. Hosts were super friendly and even brought us hot coffee on a rainy morning. Thanks, Kat and Doug!

Just wonderful!
This is a magical place! Between the lovely goats and chickens and the rustic lush setting relaxation is guaranteed. Although I didn't meet the host Kat, I did meet her friend Anna who was filling in and she was hospitable, friendly and not intrusive in the least. Perfect! This spot is great if you don't want to leave camp because you can hike the grounds around the site which are gorgeous grassland and trees. The goldenrod really had the bees buzzing! If you do want to leave, there is plenty to do very close by with small town fun and Ann Arbor a short drive away. There are also plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking and water fun. Even the compostable toilet was much less yucky than the traditional outhouse at a camp ground. The only thing that would make this place better would be a trash and recycling receptacle but even that was easy with lots of trash and recycling available in Chelsea. We will be back often.
