Third time staying at Gage Camp, and somehow I fall a little more in love with this place every visit. It genuinely feels like a private little sanctuary tucked away in nature. The site is peaceful, spacious, beautifully surrounded by trees, and private enough that you can completely relax and feel like you have the place to yourself.
One of my favorite things about it is that you get that secluded, off-grid feeling while still being only a few miles from town if you need anything. There’s plenty of open grassy space to spread out, set up camp, cook, relax, and let the dog enjoy being outside. At night, the stars are incredible because there’s so little light pollution compared with being near a larger city.
This has quickly become one of those places I look forward to coming back to. If you want somewhere quiet, private, peaceful, and surrounded by nature without being completely isolated from civilization, Gage Camp is a fantastic spot. I’ll definitely be back again.
Everything was perfect. We had a group of “city slickers” that needed a good get-away from the hustle and bustle. Perfect 4-day weekend.
If you are looking for a quiet getaway in nature, I highly recommend this site. Our family of five and two dogs stayed over the weekend. It was absolutely gorgeous. There was a porta john available for our use, which was nice. We brought our own shower system and used the stall, which it appeared is what most people do. There are a few chairs and games in the shelter. The chairs might need to be cleared off, but they were fully functional. There is also a wooden bench available in addition to the picnic table.
Due to Michigan's Friday traffic we arrived quite late on Friday. The GPS coordinates through the app took us to the back of the property which doesn't have an entrance. I recommend not doing what we did and ensure you save the coordinates provided to you by the host. We never saw orange hoops around a tree. There was a fallen tree, but the spring/summer overgrowth covers the majority of the tree.
While this site temporarily has no electricity nor water, it is a very well secluded area with lots of privacy. We saw lots of stars, fireflies and this time of the year had blackberries all over the property and pretty flowers. I also explored and found native plant species to log in my book. If you need a private place it is great!

Completely private and peaceful. Very little to no noise from any traffic. Plenty of room for cornhole, horseshoes or anything else. Close enough to a little store for anything you may have forgotten and 10 mins to larger stores / grocery. Will come again!
Absolutely beautiful place for a quiet time with the dogs to run go on amazing walks. Beautiful sunset and sunrises. We will definitely be back. Thanks for amazing experience.
Beautiful private spot. With electrical hookups. If you want to have complete privacy to unwind- this is great. Our dogs had a great time running around. The Twin Sisters Brewery nearby was great. Dowagiac farmers market was also fun to do.

Most enjoyed the fact that it WAS VERY private and peaceful.
We stayed at this place multiple times and have always enjoyed ourselves. It’s a wonderful single site campground that offers water and electricity. It has a great fire pit. It’s very secluded. Our dogs love the large areas to explore. Joseph is a terrific host!
Absolutely perfect, secluded setting. Lots of space, lots of birds and butterflies to admire, and plenty of amenities to boost your camping experience - a shower and sink, trashcan, clean portopotty, a shelter to keep yourselves and your belongings from getting wet, and electrical hookup. Can't wait to come back.

We had a wonderful stay at this Hipcamp! The space was big, wide open, and perfect for our family to spread out and enjoy nature. The host was very responsive and made everything super easy. Highly recommend this spot—we’d definitely stay again!
Very quiet and peaceful place to camp. Lots of room to play games. Not to far from a small town. I will definitely be back.
What a great spot for tent camping! The camping space is huge and secluded. The space has electric and water available to use. The spot was very secluded. I could hear a little bit of traffic from a nearby road but nothing major. The spot is surrounded by trees so it was a little buggy, but lighting a fire seemed to control this. My dogs loved the area as well. They don't get to roam off lead very often but this area felt safe enough to allow them free range. Our host Joe was very responsive and even replied to a message I sent him around midnight. He also checked in with us a couple of different times to make sure we were still doing ok.
We absolutely loved our stay! So secluded and quiet! The dogs had plenty of room to run. Our fifth wheel toy hauler fit without any issues! The owner was very responsive and beyond overly accommodating to our needs! We are already planning a trip back! 100/10 recommendation!!!!

This is our second time visiting. We had a great time again! It’s a very large open space surrounded by trees. We appreciate there being water, electricity and a porta potty. Joseph is quick to respond to any questions, and we plan on returning.
Joe was an amazing host! Very fast at replying in messenger. The property was absolutely beautiful. The photos don't do ithid place justice. I camped with my step mom and friend with our 5 dogs. We attended a K9 obstacle challenge near by. The dogs had a lot of fun with so much room to run! The place was very clean and well kept.
Note: the fire pit is very large and the lowest point is about 10 inches below ground. If you plan to cook over an open fire be prepared to step down inside it. It can be slick. Joe's property is very secluded with minimal noise, being quite a ways away from neighbors. If you are looking for a deep in the woods get away from the craziness of life. This is the place!!!
We did tent camping. But there is plenty of space for RV' s to get in and out a long with alot of space to turn around and plenty of space to be level. The driveway was very easy in and out for large rigs. (I drive truck for a living)
We did not venture into the woods, but our dogs did and when they came back they were quite happy with themselves!
10 out of 10 I highly recommend! I would like to make this an annual trip going forward!!

This is our third time staying at Gage - it’s a short distance from where we store our camper and great for a weekend retreat. This time we opened the camper up for the season, did cleaning, stocking, etc. so the fact it has electric and water is a real plus. The space is private and relaxing. We enjoy the atmosphere and amenities. We will camp there again, I’m certain!

Owner- Joseph was really great to work with. He was quick to respond and helpful, and checked on us during our stay.
Site- This place is very private, you don't see any people! We loved that. The place was recently mowed as well. There's a large fire pit, water, shower, and electric. Hard to beat! Occasionally heard a train, but didn't hear it during the night. Also some dogs barking in the distance, but not too bothersome.
The northern trails are pretty overgrown, so we preferred walking and checking out the southern trails. Pretty cool that there are trails at all. Plenty of downed branches to use for kindling and to burn up. I saw some reviews complaining of bugs, we went end of May and at least for us there were very few. All in all this was a really cool spot, especially if what you're looking for is a secluded private spot. We will be back!

We had a great stay! The property was clean and well-maintained, with a nicely mowed area for camping. The porta-potty was clean, and we really appreciated the peaceful trails through the woods with so many beautiful plants, trees, and birds to enjoy. It felt like a quiet little escape into nature.
One of the most peaceful places I've had the pleasure of camping in. Directions were easy to follow. Starter wood was provided. Having potable water on site was a huge plus. Electric was also available. There's even a porta potty that was the cleanest I've ever seen.
All around this camp is a winner.
Nice quiet area, you don't hear much from the road traffic. You will see absolutely no one unless you go into town for anything. About 10 minutes from in-town Dowagiac, gas station, ice, or even dollar general if you need anything. Walkable trails, and plenty of fallen wood from the woods you have access to for fires. Plenty of options to pitch a tent, and area for dogs to run. Can't wait to come back.

This was our second time booking Gage - we love the privacy, plenty of space around the campsite, and great views of the night sky. The amenities are unlike other Hipcamp sites - great to have the water, bathroom, and shower. Joseph is a good communicator; sending details before and checking in on us when there. We will be back in spring time!
Another amazing weekend at Gage Street Sanctuary!! This time not just me but with a couple of friends and had a great time reading scary stories by the campfire! I would stay here every weekend if I could!
It was a very nice, secluded facility. It was easy to find and well-maintained. It had plenty of space for dogs to run off-leash. Ten minutes from the site was Fred Russ State Forest with lots of walking trails, and also a small convenience store called Happy Jake’s that has ice, beer, soda, candy, chips, a deli and friendly workers. The porta potty at the site was spotless and odor-free. When we were leaving, the truck was already there to clean the porta potty. We had good communication with the site owner. We would definitely return.

I cannot say enough about how incredible this space was! This spot was secluded and private so I didn’t see a single person for 4 days. It was just myself and my two dogs. Waking up in the morning to pick a fresh apple off the tree next to my tent “Adam and Eve” style brought a unique connection to nature that you just can t experience anywhere else. Being secluded in nature was exactly what I needed to recharge! Will be returning in September and likely again in October!!
