Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven. There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

Easy access to beautiful Chapman Pond (100 yards away), which is stocked with Trout and also home to Bass, Crappie and Perch. Great place to fish or just relax! The use of two kayaks and firewood available at no extra charge. (IF using the kayaks, they are to be brought back to the campsite and NOT left at the pond. If they are left at the pond and stolen, campers will be responsible for the replacement cost, which is about $600.) Lots of wildlife (loons, turtles, geese, deer, bear etc). You're free to explore the land and trails that go part way around the pond to the "Big Rock" and beyond. Info at the campsite for other nearby hikes and activities. We allow public access to the "Grassy Area", however larger camper groups that book this site have full access and are welcome to setup tents there, but no fires are allowed on the grass.. only in designated fire pit. (FOR THOSE WITH A TOW BEHIND CAMPER, you will want to drive to the pond boat landing at the end of Chapman Pond Rd, turn around, head back towards the campsite and BACK IN.) FOR THOSE WITH DOGS, we love dogs, we have our own. For everyone's safety and well-being we ask that you please keep them with you and under your control at all times. We have a farm nearby and want no casualties because of a loose dog. Also, our 90 lb APBT is very friendly but not to every dog he meets. $20 PET FEE - 2 DOGS MAX. SMOKERS, we allow smoking at the site but please dispose of your butts properly and help keep our property beautiful. All around beautiful and peaceful campsite. City of Keene is 15 minutes away. What a great spot! Lots of great amenities provided on-site, from bug spray and citronella candles, lighter, games, heat-resistant gloves, airhorns in case of bears, etc. Many are things that you should already probably bring yourself, but so convenient to have as backups. Firepit, chairs, firewood, picnic table, trash bin with a trash bag in, all located right together. The portapotty was a short walk up the driveway, just far enough to be a little private. It was clean and came stocked with TP, wipes, and sanitizer. The pond is gorgeous. We took the kayaks out, and had the whole place to ourselves. Well, us and the beavers, ducks, frogs, etc. Just a short walk fown a path from the campsite. The only other noise seems to have been from another set of campers. It was very quiet, and very relaxing. Hosts were responsive and friendly. Very, very happy with our experience here!

Great option for anyone looking to enjoy a quick stay in the Brattleboro area. Sites feel both private and very safe. Cindy was super welcoming and happy to help. Her property is a quick drive (10 minutes ish) to downtown Brattleboro, super markets, food coop so even if you don't feel like eating out there are plenty of options to grab food to go. We had a great time camping on Cindy's land. Cindy was so friendly and available to support our group in picking the best site for us. We ended up camping in the Council of Elders spot and it was gorgeous -- lots of room to set up our tents, a picnic table, and a campfire area we could sit around. We loved the hike down to the river to swim -- took about 15 minutes to get there. We would definitely stay here again!

Had a great stay for Memorial Day weekend, even with the cloudy weather! We tent camped under the tree cover and had a great time hanging by the pond and cooking with the adjustable grill. The porta-potty was very clean and the pathway has lights at night. I definitely recommend this spot! Also easy drive to Monadnock for a great hike!

Good, flat space for tent camping. My favorite part was the access to the river which is about a half mile hike away, and has some good swimming spots for dogs. The camping spot is somewhat close to homes, and you can hear the cars in the distance at night (no big deal). Make sure to bring TP, garbage bags, and water. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Weekend Trip to The Waddle On Inn

If you enjoy scenic drives & the opportunity to see America the Beautiful, we stumbled upon a true treasure on our trip to Acadia NP: NH Route 9 between Brattleboro, VT & Concord, NH. Both directions offer beautiful mountains & water views. We stopped for the night at The Waddle on Inn. Kevin & Jess were gracious hosts, sharing their spectacular mountain views. Perched up on a hill looking over a field of wildflowers, we had unobstructed views of the mountains. Jess offered us delicious cherry shortcakes, still warm from the oven & perfect after a long soggy day of driving. Their ducks could be heard briefly, gentle murmurings always bringing a smile. Wild birds sang us to sleep & our morning coffee was about as peaceful as we’ve ever had. Kevin & Jess have a little slice of heaven & are gracious about sharing. If we are lucky enough to be in this area again, we will surely Waddle on Inn again!

This campsite is a hidden gem, tucked away in a beautiful spot. the huge space makes our stay super comfortable. We loved the peaceful atmosphere that exists over there. Plenty of other fun stuffs nearby kept us busy during the day. We were able to find a lot of dead trees to use as firewood. We'll definitely be back for another relaxing weekend getaway soon.

Friendly host with great car camping sites. The onsite trail to connect to the West River Trail is a huge bonus for walkers, hikers, and bikers that can handle some offroad conditions.
