Tree huggers unite! This is the promised land. Consisting of two separate forests, the wooded bastions of Mother Nature rise tall and strong in these parts. Each tree is beautiful in its own way, but perhaps no trunk is better for squeezing than those in the 200-year old white pine grove in the Whittemore Recreation Area of the Peoples Forest.
One can only hug so many trees, however, so it’s a good thing there are lots of other things to do in the American Legion and Peoples State Forests. The trails that wind through these wooded acres will keep hikers on their feet for days on end. And the waters of the wild and scenic West Branch of the Farmington River attracts kayakers and fishers from all over Connecticut and even neighboring states. Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven.
There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided)
Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars.
During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay.
We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam.
Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away!
Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat!
Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more.
It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

Listen to the gentle brook and barred owls while nestled into the woods of Ashfield, MA on a small herbal homestead. The forest hut is a screened in platform that is lovely for camping on a warm summer's night. It has large windows and screens to keep out the bugs while enjoying a cool mountain breeze. There is a newly built composting toilet on site and small fire pit. This is not a cabin, no electricity, running water or plumbing. It is not well suited for winter camping unless you’re well equipped.

Our 2 acre property and house is located in the center of the small town of Leverett. We have two sites, a private camping spot located down by the stream, and a yurt at the edge of the yard. We are near a paved road with moderate traffic.
The property abuts many acres of woods and there are a number of great walking trails nearby. A half-mile walk behind the house takes you through the forest to an outlook on Leverett Pond.
The Peace Pagoda is just a few miles up the road. Other nearby destinations include Cushman Market and Cafe, the Montague Bookmill, and Mt. Toby waterfall, caves, and lookout tower.
Leverett Pond has a public boat launch nearby. We have canoes, paddles, and lifejackets available for rent--inquire for details!

The cabin served as the perfect home base for our trip to surrounding outdoor recreation (hiking, biking, climbing are all around!). We felt secluded but also safe. Hosts were friendly and kind but also gave us our space. Best outhouse ever and the fairy houses were an added bonus. We regret not staying longer to checkout Shelburne Falls and perhaps just spend a day unwinding at the cabin with its great view and peaceful vibes. Just means we will have to be back soon!

Weekend Trip to Beavertides Farm
What a unique, absolutely incredible glamping experience!!
Secluded in what I can only describe as a magical secluded meadow surrounded by wildflowers, tall trees, grazing horses and a donkey, a friendly cat, it truly feels like it’s only little world. Could not have had a better experience, truly disconnected, relaxed and recharged.
Marleen is a wonderful host and so helpful. She truly loves her farm and sharing it with those who visit, if you are so inclined. Personally I highly recommend the fresh farm breakfast and farm tour add ons. Also absolutely check out their meat selection from animals on their farm. I cooked the best ribeye of my life over a campfire on a cast iron skillet.
The tent itself is cute, cozy, and comfortable. We slept soundly in the king sized bed, napped on the large L-shaped couch, made tea with the electric kettle, and eggs and vegetables on the small electric Induction stovetop.
While Marleen provides all you may need, the more you plan ahead for your own comfort the better! Your preparation will only add to what is already provided as an incredible experience. I cannot describe the feeling of warm mornings on the porch sipping herbal tea, moonlight filling the meadow and a silver horse grazing in front of you, a campfire crackling just yards from your luxurious tent.
Could not recommend more. This is not just camping or even glamping, it is truly a unique, magical, wonderful experience.

We had such a beautiful stay. Abby sent very helpful and accurate directions ahead of time and we had no trouble finding the site. The tent was very comfortable and the view amazing. We made a fire in the contained fire pit and roasted hotdogs and s'mores. The air was so fresh, no light pollution made for great stargazing, and we enjoyed taking a peek at what was growing at the farm. We didn't get to try walking on any of the nearby trails, but we really enjoyed exploring downtown (would recommend the Bridge of Flowers, Potholes, and the Trolley Museum!)

This site was the PERFECT place to camp with two little ones (1 and 4). We had a wonderful time hiking nearby at Bish Bash falls and then making dinner and s'mores in the evening. Having the showers and toilet close by was great for my little ones. And it was such a bonus that we didn't have to set up the tent ourselves.
We also got some cute visitors: 3 little bear cubs, so make sure to lock up your food!

It was a wonderful experience staying in a real tipi and cooking a meal over the fire. There was plenty of wood and kindling, and the bedding/camping gear was adequate.
I do think the hosts could have explained that the top flap should be opened when using the fire, as otherwise the tipi gets quite smokey. As an older guest, I also found the dampness from the pebble flooring noticeable, so I would recommend being prepared for that.
One other helpful note (for guests with a dog) would be clarification about the livestock guardian dog in the goat pen. He may look like he can come over to the tipi, but he actually cannot get out of the enclosure.
Overall, it was a unique and memorable experience that I would recommend to others.

I woke up to rabbits hummingbirds, and even a porcupine. There was a recent situation with a dog, so Tom was sure to let me know that leashes are preferred. I would say this is valuable, especially for the amazing wild life. You’ll see while camping here. The sites are private. I stayed for a week and I enjoyed Pittsfield and all the amazing hikes. I highly recommend the country store and ask someone who was coming in from camping it was really nice to be able to do laundry and such an amazing place five minutes down the road! Definitely a great place to explore! Worth staying for longer than just a night even if you’re passing through.

Had a wonderful stay at the treehouse this past weekend. I don't think I've ever woken up to a more beautiful view. Spent the entire day at the lake--did some paddle boarding, a little bit of swimming--mostly just enjoying a fire, reading, and relaxing. It was the perfect spot for a lowkey weekend away. My dog had a blast running in circles around the yard and jumping in and out of the water. Quentin was a wonderful host and very attentive but also thoughtful of our space. I have to say I was a little bit nervous about the toilet situation based on the description, but the entire toilet space under the treehouse is clean and pleasant. All in all, a perfect weekend getaway. Hope to be back!

Weekend Trip to Glamping on an Herb Farm
The land is beautiful, and the host is welcoming and kind. I could not have imagined a more peaceful setting to watch the sunset, and listen to crickets and the rain gently falling as I slept. The bed was very comfortable. I plan on staying again the next time I am visiting the area. Thank you!!

Weekend Trip to Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley
My friends and I had a wonderful time staying in the Bell Tent! We fit 3 people easily in the tent itself. The land is absolutely beautiful and well maintained with nice paths to walk around on. It was clear Joanna had put a lot of thought into what we might need and included a charging device, lantern, fans, and a sleeping bag in the tent. The showers were the cleanest camping showers I’ve ever seen in my life. Joanna was very easy to communicate with and when the string lights weren’t working our first night, she came out immediately to fix them. She also gave us great recommendations for what to do in the area. If you go by the pond you can see the other sites on the property but it felt secluded and we never saw any of the other people staying at the other sites (and barely heard them or the road).
