Artesian immerses guests in the healing properties of nature. Artesian's Hidden Acres is a hidden gem located in a rural-residential district of Fort Washington and are currently suited for off-grid campers. We do not provide electricity, toilets, or running water, but we do provide privacy and a unique camping experience. So, pitch your tents, park your campers, and bring your water, cooking supplies, and power source - we'll provide the fire pit, a bundle of wood, birds, crickets, groundhogs, and tranquility. But, while you will feel secluded, we do have neighbors nearby so out of respect, please try to quiet down a bit after 9pm. Thanks! In fact, bring your bike, hiking shoes, and fishing gear along too because the property is located just 4 miles from both the Henson Creek Trailhead (a scenic paved trail perfect for walking, jogging, and cycling) and Cosca Regional Park Hiking and Mountain Biking Trail (a 690-acre natural surface and paved trail with picnic areas, tennis courts, an equestrian trail network, and a lake for boating and fishing). Since we're on the subject of location, Artesian's Hidden Acres' rural-residential status gives you the best of both worlds. On the one hand, we are secluded and nestled in a private, 3-acre plat. On the other hand, we are in a residential community giving you quick (less than one mile) retail and restaurant access to Giant Food, gas stations, Auto Zone Auto Parts, fast-food restaurants, CVS, and more. We're also located 2 miles from Branch Avenue Metrorail Station; 5 miles from the MGM National Harbor & Tanger Outlets; 3.5 miles from Top Golf; 11 miles from Six Flags America; 10 miles from the DC Tidal Basin; 6 miles from Old Town Alexandria Waterfront; 8 miles from Fort Washington Park; and 10 miles from Watkins Regional Park.

Just as shown. Reviews are correct. Excellent location and private. Only critique would be that it is just off a rural highway, but truthfully there is only about one car every 5 minutes during the day, and then virtually none at night. We would definitely stay here again.

We absolutely love this campsite! This was our third time staying here, and it gets better every year. The site itself is very private, spacious, and well-maintained — perfect for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors without feeling crowded. Derek, the owner, is always incredibly accommodating and goes above and beyond to make sure guests have everything they need. We plan to keep coming back every year — it’s become one of our favorite getaway spots!

Great spot for camping and fishing. We had three tents and a tarp and had a ton of room. Caught a couple of perch and bullhead. Easy instructions to get to the place which felt nice and remote. Great sunset views as well. Watch your step around the banks as high water at some point did some serious erosion. The owner has a set up steps to get down to the beach, which were very helpful. Also if you’re planning on having a fire you may want to bring some wood ahead of time. There is a bunch of ash and some oak around the property that the owner was gracious enough offer up to us, but much of it was older and rotted. Some other reviews mentioned the drag strip nearby which you can hear (along with the occasional shotgun blast from hunters), but neither of those things really bothered us. Country store nearby with coffee, beer, liquor ice and gas. About 90 minutes from DC (no traffic). Closer to 2.5 hours if you leave DC at 3pm during the week. Overall a great spot if you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway from the city.

My niece goes camping twice a year and I hijacked this fall trip. I selected Yates’ site because of the quiet and tranquil surrounding and we were not disappointed. Tucker, Yates’ cousin, met us at check-in with the sweetest dog. We found site 3 easily and setup went smoothly. Site 3 is shady and offers views of the Patuxent River and a nice swampy area below. Loved the sounds of birds, fox…night life. I wasn’t expecting all the Daddy Long Legs and various other spiders. Thank God my niece was there to save me, lol. We brought our own wood, but there was kindling/small branches at the site that we also took advantage of. We played it forward and left the same for the next camper. I would definitely stay here again, just not at Site 3. I think Site 1 is open without the abundance of trees and prayerfully less bugs.
