Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Wild Yough property is to your right along the river and there is a great place for lying in the sun, doing some fishing, or just wading into the cool waters of the Yough on a hot summer day.Learn more about this land:The idea is simple- our glamping site will offer a true camping experience without all the hassles and fuss. Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Wild Yough property is to your right along the river and there is a great place for lying in the sun, doing some fishing, or just wading into the cool waters of the Yough on a hot summer day.Learn more about this land:The idea is simple- our glamping site will offer a true camping experience without all the hassles and fuss. With 350 acres of private ground, adjacent to thousands of acres of state park and forest, Wild Yough offers plenty of space to spread out, stretch your legs, watch the deer, and howl with the coyotes. You won’t be packed into a row of RV’s or tents where you can hear your neighbor snoring. You won’t have to set up camp in the rain. And you’ll never have to sleep on the ground! You’ll have your own heated hut, warm soft bed, and private space for long evenings around the campfire. And our bathhouse and pavilion facilities are designed with comfort, cleanliness and relaxation in mind. Oh yeah… large field for enjoying lawn games or just relaxing quietly under an endless blanket of evening stars.Each hut is furnished with a double bed, additional seating/pullout bed, cabin cooking center with stove, dining table, LED lighting, and a propane heater. Outside, each hut has comfortable chairs on the porch, a large picnic table, and a fire-ring/cooking grill with extra seating. And all this is just a short walk to the bath house and paviliion! Our bathhouse is designed to bring you all of the comforts of home, with modern, comfortable features which include full size showers, plenty of counter space, professional ventilation, and regular maintenance by our partners at Offlake Rentals. Additionally, we have outside water facilities and separate, deep sinks for washing dishes. It’s separated into two regions, Rock Run and High Knob, the latter of which looks down upon two valleys and the northern reaches of the Shenandoah Mountains.The park features a sweet 16 miles of trails and a unique stone lodge called the Tea Room. It was originally built by the CCC in the 1930s for community events and gatherings. The park can fill to capacity on summer weekends and holidays, but there’s always night fishing. Point Lookout has three fishing areas that stay open as long as your local Kwik-E-Mart, including a 710-foot fishing pier.

Weekend Trip to Strawberry Crossroads
We visited the Strawberry Crossroads in early Nov to enjoy the fall foliage. We rented one of the small wooden cabins, which had 6 individual bunks with mats, a small fridge, a small table, a trash can, ceiling light and fan, and a cooler/heater. The land was beautiful with a lovely creek and a cute wooden bridge that crosses over it. We enjoyed the goats and chickens, and just the overall beautiful nature. The hosts were very responsive, kind, and relaxed. We had a great time and will recommend to friends/family.

Weekend Trip to Strawberry Crossroads
Camp site was easily accessible. Staff was accommodating for my late night arrival and helped get me into the cabin after a long day.
There was a nice stack of firewood outside of the cabin. I didn’t use it because of wet weather and limited time at the site, but it was a welcome surprise.
Inside has 6 bunks. I doubled up on mattresses since I was solo. Inside has a small refrigerator and remote controlled air conditioner, both worked well and AC helped ensure a solid nigts’s sleep. Inside flooring is carpeted and also has a small table and chair.
Communication was timely and efficient.
Bathhouse is about a 5 minute walk. Showers were clean, well maintained and had nice hot water. Would recommend if you’re looking for a quick accessible cabin near Ocean City.

Second year in a row staying here. Cabin was clean and had just what we needed to be comfortable for the weekend. Bathrooms had nice showers. The goats did sleep on our front porch and stalked us all morning Saturday, so that was an unexpected fun touch! Would definitely come back, and most likely will!

Camping at Tamara's was relaxing and an overall pleasant experience. Watching the sunrise over the mountains in the morning, warming up by the fire at night, and spending days with the sweet animals was a blessing. Between the arts and crafts (really fun for little ones), learning about historical tools (think Little House on the Prairie), and improving my skills for fire building and cooking over a fire, this was a delightful and educational experience. The location is near hiking trails with great views, and near several ice cream shops (a great treat after a good hike). Tamara is a good host. This is definitely a location that I hope to return to.

We had a wonderful time at Tamara’s farm. We were welcomed with farm fresh eggs and firewood our first evening where we sat bye the fire and cooked yummy hot dogs and corn.
Our teens stayed in a tent - their first time camping in a tent and loved the experience.
In the morning we took a long morning walk taking in all the nature - the weather was fabulous.
Tamara shared some of the history of the region and we spent the afternoon hiking in the mountains where there was an overlook which was stunning.
If your looking for time out in nature in a rustic setting with warm hospitality we highly recommend Tamara’s cottage.

This place is perfect getaway; I love how the cabins are by the water and it's quiet and peaceful. It’s also close to a convenient store and there’s Parkers Produce and Seafood nearby. Close 24-minute drive to Ocean City and Assateague which makes it more convenient. Definitely going to return to this place.

what a charming campgrounds! The cabins are simple but very cozy! We had a queen mattress in our cabin (6) and it was surprisingly comfy! The bathhouse is a little bit of a trek but well appointed. The most delightful part of our stay was Cotton, the extremely friendly and adorable white goat, who nibbled sweetly on our hands and hopped up on our camp table causing a hilarious cascade of things falling and our group doubled over laughing. He is a real highlight of our stay. We’ll definitely be back!

We had such a fun time here its close to ocean city and about an hour from bethany, rehoboth, and assateague. There is a grill over fire pit i would recommend bringing your own fire starter and wood incase it rains, although they have plenty of wood. The fridge/freezer is a really nice size, we meal prepped everything which made it super easy to cook on the grill. The cabin had electricity, outlets inside, and ac.

Beautiful little campground. My family and I vacationed to ocean city, but opted not to stay at a hotel. We loved everything about this place. Everything was very clean and well kept. It was quiet, and peaceful..the perfect place to unwind. Reasonable driving distance to the beach, shopping or grocery store. It is family friendly, and the owners are kind and helpful.
