Evensong Farm is a preserved historic farm adjacent to the Antietam National Battlefield. We have set up two, almost identical, sites on a 60 acre parcel of our farm which is very private for our campers, but allows access to the lovely Antietam Creek. The sites themselves are about 500 feet apart so, while they maintain privacy when booked by different parties, can also be booked together for group stays.
We have been hosting campers at our "glampsites" since 2021. Each off-grid site has a 12x16 platform with a 10x12 canvas side wall tent, a firepit and chairs, a cooking area with a grill and sink for washing up, a picnic table and benches, and a private bathroom with a composting toilet and solar shower bag. The main tent is set up for 2 people, although 4 is possible. The sites can handle a max of 12 people, with the use of additional tents (BYO or you can set up some of ours). We provide an electronic camp guide to all of our campers that include our recommendations for things to do in the area, as well as camping tips and other handy info.
Inside the tent you will find a queen size bed, side tables, and a cafe table and chair set. We have put down foam flooring and a carpet for your comfort and provide numerous battery powered lights, lanterns and fans. In cold months we can add a propane heater to keep the chill away. We also have some games, maps of the area, decks of cards, and a fire extinguisher.
Stepping outside the tent you'll find our long rainfly creates a covered porch where you can relax on our provided chairs. There are additional chairs around the firepit and each firepit has a cooking grate so you can cook over your campfire. We provide one bundle of firewood (including kindling) per night with your reservation. We do sell additional firewood, if needed.
In our kitchen area you will find a picnic table and chairs, 5 gallons of drinking water, a clean up table that includes a foot operated pump sink with an additional 5 gallons of washing water, a grill (one site has propane and the other has charcoal), trash and recycling bins, grill tools, lighters, plus dish and hand soaps.
Our farm is a mile and a half from the town of Sharpsburg, MD, home of the Antietam National Battlefield (and Nutter's Ice Cream Shop). You will find the Appalachian Trail to our east and the C&O Canal to our west (10 minute drive to either).

Second time here and we love this camp. This time we tried out in winter/rain and we enjoyed it. Ben as always is a great host ! Very responsive. The site is neat as always and it looks like it has a new picnic bench too 😁 We had a surprise visit from the farm ambassador - Hopper the dog. Very sweet and friendly. Hopper and my dog had a blast in the morning running around. This is our favorite himpcamp spot around Frederick and will definitely be back again soon. It's great for family with kids and pets. Highly recommend!

This site is a lively maintained and isolated site. Unfortunately our scheduling wouldn’t let us stay the night, but Shane allowed us to check in early and enjoy the property for the day. I would love to come back and camp overnight soon.

This was a perfect camp site!! Went with my family & took our two dogs. The dogs had a blast, plenty of space while still having some fencing around to keep them from being too crazy. It was private and the stars were great. Host was wonderful, everything was easy to find, and the bathroom was clean.
It was daddy long legs galore but personally if i had to pick one bug to see a bunch it would be them. Harmless and on items more than people. Overall a great trip!!

I love this camp site and farm. The owners are really nice, welcoming, and helpful. The camp site is awesome - plenty of space and it's right by the creek. I love that it's wooded and feels secluded, even though Taneytown is only a few minutes away. The farm and property is picturesque, especially in the fall. It's seems like something more out of a movie than real life.
We will definitely be back again :)

We loved camping at Julie’s! When we arrived she help get us to the site (it was dark out already) and showed us around. Every amenity was thought of. There were even cute lights on the cooking tent and on the walk to the other site. We rented both sites for our large group. The property is beautiful and we had the best time!

Our stay at Bear Branch Creekside was seriously the best, start to finish! Benjamins communication was always prompt which made everything super easy. The whole site was clean and looked great. We had a blast exploring the fun well kept walking trails, and the creek was the perfect spot to just chill—plus, our son had a field day fishing! The fire pit was a major plus, especially since they had those thoughtful extra cooking grates available. We totally fell in love with the owners' dog, Hopper, too! We had such a good time in Hangtown and are already dying to go back. 10/10 recommend!

Great spot for camping and fishing. We had three tents and a tarp and had a ton of room. Caught a couple of perch and bullhead. Easy instructions to get to the place which felt nice and remote. Great sunset views as well. Watch your step around the banks as high water at some point did some serious erosion. The owner has a set up steps to get down to the beach, which were very helpful. Also if you’re planning on having a fire you may want to bring some wood ahead of time. There is a bunch of ash and some oak around the property that the owner was gracious enough offer up to us, but much of it was older and rotted. Some other reviews mentioned the drag strip nearby which you can hear (along with the occasional shotgun blast from hunters), but neither of those things really bothered us. Country store nearby with coffee, beer, liquor ice and gas. About 90 minutes from DC (no traffic). Closer to 2.5 hours if you leave DC at 3pm during the week. Overall a great spot if you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway from the city.

Tent camping @ Hipville was excellent. The area was well maintained with many paths cutting across the property. The water level was a bit low for effective fishing, but we dropped some lines anyway.
There was very limited prepared wood available when we arrived, and we needed to acquire more in the morning (not a difficult prospect).

We loved camping by the river! We had a truck tent and were able to pull up right to the site. The farm and river views were gorgeous! Saw many deer and even a few eagles flying over the river. There was a very clean porta potty at our site, a picnic table, and fire ring. We brought our dog that LOVED to explore the land. Steve was very nice and responsive. We would definitely go back!

My kids and I loved this site. It was not crowded and the quarry was beautiful and very peaceful. The train that others mentioned was definitely notable, not a big deal but it was indeed quite loud. We would come back again, it was a nice spot.
