Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We are now recognized by the World Wildlife Fund as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions. There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect. As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings. For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according. In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude. FAQ: Our cabin is an off grid (very limited power, now way to charge or plug in AC devices) post and beam structure that we built 9 years ago. It has a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. There is a large (150 gallon) tank of water for doing dishes and camp showers but we do not suggest drinking it. There is a generous supply of lanterns (both battery and inflatable solar) flashlights and string lights for lighting. We have wired lights that run off DC power when there is enough solar and we provide some battery packs for charging phones. We highly suggest bring some way to charge any of your personal electronics. There is no reliable way to do that in the cabin. This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has a separate outhouse as well as shower stall to use the solar shower bags in. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!

In general, this is a delightful setting for swimming, floating, fishing, and paddling among the loons and other wildlife that this water body is home to. The campsite is a short drive to a number of terrific hiking trails that are part of the Georges Highland Path, a 70-mile network of trails, and the St. George River Canoe Trail. It’s also just 20 minutes to Camden Hills State Park and downtown Camden, and 18 minutes to Rockport or Rockland. There are many excellent restaurants and art galleries in these coastal towns, as well as opportunities to get out on the ocean and enjoy our coastal beaches or catch a ferry for a day trip out to explore one of the iconic islands offshore. We built this cabin recently with siblings and a few skilled friends to make a getaway place for the extended family. Just 2 miles off Rte. One our location is quiet and perfect for exploring the midcoast of Maine - a short drive to many favorite places! The cabin is built on property adjacent to our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard planted, ramps seeded, and a producing strawberry hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months, and keep pekin ducks (the white ones) (now all in retirement!). The farm is 78+ acres with logging roads and is located on a quiet road. Food markets and some good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. There is an outdoor shower, a nice outhouse, a campstove, oil lamps etc - so it's is very old fashion yet comfortable cabin stay! Bring your own towels and maybe some candles. Plenty of board games, and maps of our local hikes and places to explore. If you come in the fall you should know that the roof is insulated but the walls are not - so layer up, bring extra blankets, and hugging the woodstove might be necessary! You'll enjoy the screened porch in all kinds of weather.

This was a very comfortable, well organized and visually pleasing place to land, especially for a weary traveler who had tent camped in the rain the previous night. There was an efficient system for everything. Even the fire pit was set up and ready to light! The toilet and shower/washing sink set up were well thought out as well. I'd definitely return to this cabin!

Weekend Trip to Hidden Valley Nature Center

So fun!! This seriously rocked. If you are a family looking to take kids on a low effort trip… book this now! The cabin was perfect for my family (2 adults, two 8yo boys, 2 yo and infant. Was simple to pull a wagon to. The covered picnic table was awesome. There was no traffic past our cabin all weekend making it feel so secluded which was awesome for our sometimes anxious dog. The boys loved riding their bikes on the trails and exploring the ponds. We can’t wait to come back!!!!

What a great area I was really surprised when I got down in there that we couldn't hear any traffic whatsoever which was really nice it's really tucked away nicely deep down in the woods there listening to the loons watching the eagles the people before I left it a little messy so took it upon myself to clean up what they left behind cute little setup though can't wait to go back going to try out the other cabin next

2 nights at Fieldstone Farm

Beautiful magical place. Very sweet spot next to the water and has a lovely easy set-up to make camping stress free. Kayaking on the lake had lots of places to explore -both reedy undeveloped shoreline, along with shoreline that is a mix of camps and houses. Lake was calm and easy to navigate. As the description notes there are neighboring properties but I found it very quiet -and restorative. Loons, crickets and owls at night.

2 nights at Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary

Had a terrific solo trip at cabin 2! The cart to bring your supplies to the cabin was greatly appreciated. The beautiful 1/4 mile walk through the forests was stunning. The cabin was perfect for the price, water pump in the sink to wash hands/dishes, lots of pots/pans/bug spray/salt/plates, bed was ok, screened porch was a godsend and solar lights really helped! I loved that they had firewood for the campfire and the privacy was unmatched. No one was in cabin 1 so it was just me in the Maine woods! The only thing that would have made it better is if they had a sofa inside. FYI: AT&T doesn’t work at the cabin, but it’s good to fall off the face of the earth every once in awhile.

Weekend Trip to The cabin at White Duck Farm

This was our second stay, had four people this time and had just as much fun as the last time! Has everything you’d need, from firewood to cookware to linens and pillows. Chairs around the fire make it easy to sit out while you’re cooking or if you prefer indoor cooking there’s a propane stove! Outhouse in good shape as was the outdoor shower. Minimal traffic noise if any at all, you can hear the crickets and birds as well as have a wonderful view of the stars in the field. Laundry, dinner spots, bars/pubs, trails, ice cream, etc all within 20 minutes of the cabin, some even closer. No complaints, we will be back again next year!

This campsite/trip is one for the books! Total privacy, great location(drive in theater and restaurants close by), trails and gardens to walk through, and at night the skies were clear to see the stars out in the fields. Highly recommended!

New deck in 2022 and inviting Adirondack chairs make for a pleasant stay.

3 nights at The Bird's Nest-Private Tiny House

Beautiful place. We loved every second. Very clean and sooo charming. It was literally the best place. Felt very much alone and removed from everything (which was what we were going for :) ) Close to the lake, which was beautiful. We cooked on the fire, played fetch with the dog, read books and did nothing all day.
