Elmer's Cove

- my location is your vacation - 450 feet of cove frontage as part of historic and culturally relevant "Anthony's Beach" and adjacent to Cobscook Bay State Park. Paved boat launch next door, with a dock over there. Undisturbed forest surrounds my land, thick stands of trees along the road and all around. Maine classes this type of property as Remote Primitive camping. Take out your own trash, small bags for gas station trash cans, and bring some water. People marvel at the property and relax. Hand carry launch very close to the shore embankment campsites. This scant-settled area of coastal Maine is a necessary stop on your journey and meet the world's first temporary housing celebrity.

Your fire stuff. Softwood and hardwood, use a mix. Charcoal, paper, and lighter fluid in the bucket if you need it. A log carrier and a tarp to line your car too.

SPECTACULAR SEASIDE YURT

Once owned by a locally self proclaimed pirate our beautiful seaside yurt will give you everything your looking for in a nature getaway. Our property is right next to the internationally famous Cobscook Bay State park. Within a stones throw, you can find a boat launch and the most breathtaking views. Not only is the spectacular seaside yurt on south Edmunds road gorgeous, it is private. You will be able to listen to loons while tucked into the gentle field of wildflowers or hear the waves lap up against the rocks as you roast marshmallows on the firepit. Alex and I are avid conservationists and stewards of the land. We hope one day to make this place our forever homestead with our growing young family. We are more than happy to have you come, stay and enjoy the magic of the yurt.

Our campsite is located less than a mile from the famous Cobscook National Park, 15 minutes to gorgeous Lubec and only an hour and a half drive to Acadia national park. Be the first to see the sun rise at Quoddy head or go sea kayaking from the public boat launch .5 miles away. Your peaceful campsite sits on the bay with 200’ of shoreline and 2 acres of dreamy meadow. The secluded site includes an outdoor seating area on the water, fire pit, free parking and a one of a kind luxury yurt with a big comfy bed. Enjoy watching the wildlife from the seaside oasis under wise old pines or picking wildflowers in your own private field. Less than a 15 min drive away to gas, restaurants and whale watching tours you are guaranteed to experience the best Maine has to offer.

Robinson's Cottages Camping

The camp site is located on the same property as Robinson's Housekeeping Log Cottages. The business was started 4 generations ago with one small cabin in 1920 by William Robinson and his wife Shirley.

The cottages are located on the bank of the Dennys River, on land owned by generations of Robinsons since 1875. There are 6 log cottages and one small clapboard cottage located on the property. We also have direct access to the Sunrise Trail.

This campsite is located on the bank of the Dennys River and very close to the small pond also on the property. It is a wooded lot with a firepit (wood included), picnic table, and tenting/campervan spot. Nearby are a swing set, volleyball/badminton net, horseshoes, and a beach on the river. Water bottles can be filled at the Cottages office.&nbsp;There are canoes, a rowboat, and a kayak that can be used for free by campers. Life jackets can be found hanging outside by the office. We have direct access to the Sunrise Trail and are located between mile marker 79 and 80.

River to Lake Camping and Cabin

Explore the beauty of coastal downeast Maine from this quiet solar powered cabin and campsite along the Pennamaquon River.  This remote property is surrounded by woods and connects two beauties--the Pennamaqoun Lake and Passamaquody Bay.  The rocky Maine Coast, Reversing falls, the Sunrise Trail and the Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge are all nearby. 

Going up the river about 1/4 of a mile you will find yourself on a quiet lake where you are more likely to see an eagle than a person.  About a 1/4 of a mile downriver you will come to a popular swim hole and rope swing. In the spring you might see spawning alewives. You may see ducks, eagles, king fisher, heron, beaver, turtles (or their nests) and loon right from the dock.

You won't need your binoculars to catch site of the occasional Mainer floating by in a handmade wooden boat.   If you wave, you might get a wave back. 

It's a soul restoring place appreciated most by those who like human powered activities--like kayaks, canoes and paddle boards (all provided) and a chance to cook on an open fire.  There is a picnic table and 4 Adirondack chairs and no wifi.

You might also like to swim or float down the river in an inner tube.  You can fish on the dock or from your boat.  If you have a bike-- head to the nearby Sunrise Trail or country roads.  Head there too, if you have shoes and want a measured run (it goes about 87 miles through field, forest, swamp and bog with mileage noted).

Eastport is a nearby seaside town with an arts center, shops and dining about 15 minutes away.  You can go whale watching and you might just see porpoise, whales, eagles and Old Sow Whirlpool, the largest whirlpool in the Americas.  Or stay on shore, and hunt for sea glass and cool rocks. Grab something to eat while you are there, and check out Don Dunbar's amazing nature photography and local gifts.  There is also coastal hiking at Shackford Head.

You might also head towards Lubec (about 45 minutes) and go on a coastal hike on the Bold Coast trail, or visit the Quoddy Head Lighthouse or cross the bridge into Canada and visist Campobello. Do not miss Monica and her handmade chocolates! You can also head North on Route 1 and go to Canada, just 30 minutes away.

Happy Dwelling

Happy Dwelling is just 10 minutes from downtown Machias, Maine. It rests on 8 acres of land. Woods create a private and peaceful stay. You may enjoy starry night skies and soft orange sunrises.

Just a short walk, is the lovely Sunrise Trail, a converted old train line, for biking, walking, four-wheeling, and horseback riding. Lakes are close by for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing.

There are lots of hiking trails in the area. If you're interested in touring some of the towns nearby, Lubec, Eastport, Machias, and Campobello Island are all good choices. And, they all have a hiking trail or two, and I place to have lunch.

Alchemy Oasis

Just a little spot in the yard near nature, but close to the landlord's house. Ideal for tenting for a night and close by to a lake just down the road! Bring your ATVs for the nature trail across the path. Or settle in by a fire and attend morning yoga class $10 per person! Enjoy the peaceful quiet, birds and the butterflies and wild flowers. Definitely being warm clothes and bug spray.

Nearby Adventures: Explore coastal trails and tidal views at Cobscook Bay State Park (~13 mi), soak in ocean panoramas at Quoddy Head State Park (~15 mi), enjoy quiet wildlife and birdwatching at Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge (~12 mi), or head just a couple minutes to Pleasant Lake (~2 mi) for fishing and paddling by the water.

Blueberry Land Tent Platforms

We have four raised platforms, accessible by car, each with a canvas-covered A-frame

Each platform is nested in their own private setting around the edges of our 12-acre organic blueberry barren. All four platforms are fully screened-in, with stylish canvas-covered timberframes and circular red doors. These canvas tents are relatively bug-proof and waterproof; you do not need to bring a tent! You do need to bring your own bedding. ***If you are particularly sensitive to bugs, you may want to bring your own tent (to put inside our tent) or a mosquito net. This is the Northeast during the summertime, we cannot ensure there will be no bugs.

Blueberry Land is part of Smithereen Farm, but is located around the corner from our Home Farm on Youngs Cove Road, near Reversing Falls. 

This is an off grid, rustic site with only a port-a-potty. If you need to use any other amenities, you are welcome to use the WIFI, fill your water bottles, charge your electric vehicle and buy supplies at the Smithereen Farmstore (12 Little Falls Road, Pembroke).  We sell cold drinks, beer and wine, frozen fish, meat, our own fruit popsicles, also organic veggies, honey, products from many local and Maine farms, camping supplies, ready to eat food, snacks, chocolates and even fresh baked cookies. Park at the store, and then jump into the Pennamaquan River (two dams, a rope swing) to cool off after exploring the town.

Note: there is no potable water at the site, you will need to bring a vessel and fill up in town.

There are beautiful walking, biking and canoeing opportunities in every direction—check out Cobscook Shores, Downeast Coastal Conservancy trails by Reversing Falls, Maine Coast Heritage trails on the Bold Coast and at Sipps Bay, Nature Conservancy trail at Hersey Point, Shackford head at Eastport, and of course much more on Campobello. 

Blueberry bushes are low, native, fruit-growing, covered in flowers in spring and then berries in summer, turning bright bright red in the fall when kissed by frost. Our blueberries are certified organic by MOFGA and surrounded by birch, fir, spruce and flowering perennial beds to improve insect habitat. Please DO NOT DRIVE/ tread ON THE BERRIES, they are food that we harvest and sell!

Park in the parking lot, three sites are immediately visible, the fourth site is a further drive down the road, past the port-o-potty, in the back field, to the left. Low hung vehicles beware! If in doubt park in the parking lot. 

Upon booking, we will send you a PDF welcome packet filled with helpful information about the farm, local sites to see, and a comprehensive list of our recommendations. We will say it again: remember to prepare for MOSQUITOES in summer!

We really recommend you approach Washington County as an opportunity to PICNIC! The "dining out" options are limited. Bring a pocketknife, a frying pan, a big cooler for butter and milk with ice packs so you can pick up local crabmeat (Betty's Crabmeat) and mayo and salads (Smithereen Farmstore) and eggs from ends of driveways, bring a cutting board—a big water jug, a camp stove/kettle, more warm socks than you think you need... and a sense of adventure! We have a EAT DOWNEAST digital map, guidebook and brochure at the Farmstore you can pick up a copy or download from our website. Woodlot Farm Camp'n

Ideal for both tent camping and campers. The 10 total acreage of the Woodlot Farm Camp'n area is all you need for a magical, down east Maine camping experience. 

The land consists of beautiful hard and soft wood trees, while the non-wooded 2 acres includes a wide, horse-shoe gravel driveway for parking, a small pig pen, a chicken run/coop, small pond, over-grown grassy area and garden space. A 24' cargo trailer is stationed onsite next to a small solar shed in the chicken area. There is driveway space to park 2 vehicles, and 1 camper. 

The entrance to the Woodlot Farm is off of Steam Mill Rd, which turns into a fantastic, popular jeep/ATV rd at the property. This rd is also used for hiking, and mountain biking in summer/fall when drier. ATV enthusiasts can pitch a tent here at the trail, which connects to the local lakes, and numerous other trails. Mill Cove is a magical view point destination, and a brief cruise from the farm at just 1.4 miles / 4 minutes down the road. This popular attraction is the nearest beach on the Passamaquoddy Bay.

Woodlot Farm is the small-scale, organic farm that is currently not in operation on. The area is especially peaceful for campers, with just a small, quiet family who camp onsite part-time in a camper.  

Star gazing is recommended on clear nights as the light pollution is very low. The owl hoots and other wildlife are an audible treat that connect us to the surrounding natural world. Include Woodlot Farm Camp'n to your adventure. Relax and explore on this special land in Maine.

Two miles as the crow flies from the ocean, but a 10-15 minute drive. Hike in, pitch your tent among the birches, and enjoy the quiet. We offer only one site so that you can experience a sense of solitude. We vary the camp sites and let them rest and recover their wildness in between guests. If you are interested in meditation, contemplation and creativity, this might be the place for you. Toilet is a bucket with a seat that you “flush” by throwing leaves on top.
