With nearly half a mile of river frontage, a stream, and over a mile of hand-cut walking trails, Arbor Camp’s thirty acres provide ample space to unwind without leaving the grounds. Two cabins and a treehouse sit in an open field with wide views of the river and its passing wildlife. The remaining treehouses are thoughtfully spaced across 25 acres of quiet forest, offering privacy and a sense of deep immersion in the trees. Many enjoy filtered river views through the canopy.
Each season brings its own pleasures: temperate summer days and cool, starlit evenings; fall foliage and crisp air; the stillness of snow-covered woods in winter; and, in spring, a quiet reawakening as color and life return to the forest.
Arbor Camp began in 2022, when three friends came together to build a quiet place in the woods. Thirty acres along the Union River in Ellsworth offered the space—and the inspiration—for something lasting. The project was shaped by Maine’s camp tradition: simple, seasonal dwellings that invite stillness, comfort, and connection to the land.
We followed the path of an old roadbed to guide our layout, preserving as many trees as possible. Cabins and treehouses are spaced for privacy and quiet, and walking trails were cut by hand to follow the natural shape of the land.
Wildlife is part of daily life here. Songbirds call from the canopy. Heron and eagles pass overhead. Deer move through the understory, and turkeys wander the clearings. Mushrooms—chanterelles, black trumpets, and others—rise through the forest floor in season.
From the start, the idea was simple: to create a place that feels good to step into. Each of us brought different experiences—design, building, creative work—but shared a clear vision: spaces that are well made, deeply comfortable, and in tune with their surroundings.

Birdsong Yurt is not your average yurt! The yurt is a 30-foot Great Lakes yurt with lots of upgrades. Every detail has been thought through to make this yurt experience as cozy and relaxing as possible. The yurt can sleep two to four people, with a king bed in the main living area and a queen size bed in the back bedroom. Each bed has comfortable fresh clean bedding. The yurt features full kitchen to include a small refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, small 20" cook stove/oven, double cast iron sink, drip coffee pot, tea kettle, microwave, toaster/air fry oven, dishware/glassware for 2-4 people, silverware and cooking utensils, dish towels, dish soap, olive oil, vinegar, cooking spices, cookie sheets, muffin and loaf pans. The bathroom has a 48" stand up shower with rain shower head and is stocked with towels, hand soap, bar soap, hair dryer, starter toilet paper and paper towels for your stay. The living space has a sofa and two chairs perfect to sit and read a book by the fire, play some games or settle down and watch a movie on the 43" smart Roku tv. The yurt is heated with a comfortbuilt pellet stove which is easy to use and can be left unattended for a day out to come back to a nice warm space. We also have a Mini split heat pump which is an additional heat source but also provides air conditioning to keep you cool and comfortable in the warmer months.

Enjoy the view while sitting on the deck with the gas fire place or sit by the wood burning fire pit. (We do not supply wood) but there may occasionally be some left on site.
Location The location is perfect for anyone looking for adventure! We are 13 mins to Mt Abram and 27 mins to Sunday River Ski resort! There are many lakes and ponds nearby that are perfect if you are looking to go fishing, kayaking, or looking for a place to cool off in the summer. We are close to many hiking and ATV/snowmobile trails. The town of Bethel is a 15-min drive with lots of great activities including tubingand has some great restaurants, activities as well as a small grocery store.

4 nights at Arbor Camp Acadia Cabins/Treehouses
Loved our stay at The Willow Cabin in Arbor Camp. The cabin has everything you need from refrigerator, washer/dryer combo, utensils etc.., relaxing hot tub for your sore muscles after a day in Acadia NP. Very convenient to Acadia NP (35 minutes). We packed a lunch every morning to eat in Acadia (Walmart nearby). Some very nice hiking paths on the property that go down to the river and new cabins being built! Rachel is very easy to get a hold of if you have any questions usually within 5 minutes of my text. I would recommend these cabins, they are new with great views and everything you could possibly need. If we visit Acadia in the future will definitely book again, ...but I feel these cabins will be in demand as they are well worth it. Kind of a gem that you don't want anyone to know about

This is a large campground with a lot of good amenities. When we visited, the campground was almost full. But despite that, we felt that we had enough space to coexist with a lot of people around. The campground did get quieter as the evening came on, and we didn't have a problem with noise. They do have a trolley that picks you up at the front entrance to take you to the beach, and we thought that was a great touch.

Words can barely explain how incredible my stay here was, not only are the cabins very well maintained and kept (little mints on the pillow and everything) but the outside area was so extremely inviting and full of fun games and activities. Sadly, it ended up raining for most of our stay, but sitting under the porch while watching the rain fall was so very picturesque. Ryan was very kind in explaining how to use all of the amenities as well as offering to set up both the sauna and hot tub. Plus his canine companion was too cute!! Very much so recommend!!

A cute, comfortable and eclectic spread that offers some of the features of “glamping” without feeling overly pretentious. The cabins were clean and unique and the sauna and hot tub were rustic and relaxing. Ryan was an approachable and generous host.

Weekend Trip to Ferncrest Acadia
It was a great pleasure staying at Ferncrest Acadia; where they blend coziness and nature together wonderfully. The hot tub was a great touch and perfect way to wrap up our day. The manager of the property was very welcoming and provided a nice tour. They also have a camp store, which was perfect as we forgot our s'mores fixings, oops. The campground is immaculately maintained with lots of nice amenities for families. The best part is that it's a relatively short and easy walk to the beach and center of town. Nice stay and recommended for it's location.

Beautiful campground that is very well maintained. Great location, it was an easy walk to the beach and grocery store. Cabin says it sleeps 6 but is a good size for 2 adults and 2 kids, very squishy for more than 2 adults. The wheelchair accessible features were excellent, especially the shower. Staff was extremely helpful finding gluten free and vegetarian restaurants nearby.

This place was incredible! It was so cute and full of thoughtful touches that made our stay feel really special. From the friendly messages reminding us to bring slippers to the adorable s’mores kit, every detail felt intentional and welcoming. Everything was peaceful and quiet, and the location was perfect — conveniently situated between Bangor and Acadia/Bar Harbor while still being very easy to find. We would absolutely stay here again!

The 20-foot diameter yurt was spacious; we had plenty of room to set up our camp kitchen inside. The yurt was well-lit with electric lights, and the hand-pumped water source was close. Cliff is a great host, providing detailed information and checking for any special requirements in advance and stopping by at the beginning of our visit to answer questions.

The site itself is right by the road, that seems to be used fairly regularly.
The outhouse is pretty good, kept clean. It gets the job done when you need it, haha.
There was a little bit of grass to walk our dog, though if we went into the semi wooded area we got multiple ticks on us (I know it was definitely season for them though), so we tried not to do that.
The site was level, though the power and grey water disposal were a little confusing to figure out. William was definitely nice and helpful in getting them figured out.
We had a lot of errands in the area, so it was a great place to park and sleep, but that’s about what I’d recommend it for, personally. It was very quick and easy access into Bangor.

Awesome amenities and CLEAN! Laundry and a dish washing station is such a great idea. We’ve been traveling out of the back of our truck for the past week and the laundry here was a little pricey but extremely convenient. The hot tub and pool was still open which we hung out in all night (until it closed) and then walked to the beach. Would recommend.
