Weekend Trip to The Tipi Village

It’s a cool campsite. The decorations and atmosphere make it very unique. The bed was good. It was a bit cold because we couldn’t find the remote for the heater. It’s a shared shower and kitchen, but it clean.

This was our 2nd stay of many. We love the land here and the special place that has been created and graciously shared with guests. This visit, we enjoyed hiking the trail and the farm dogs joined us. We will be back soon!

Terrapin Hill was delightful. Brenda and Pete were wonderful hosts, and the land offered quiet spots and rolling trails. It's close to Shaker Village and lots of other sites.

Weekend Trip to The Tipi Village

We had a fabulous time here! It rained while we were there, but Mark brought us dry firewood each day so we could have a fire 🔥. The bathhouse was perfect and very clean!

Host and property were both wonderful! Unfortunately we were only there overnight, but would absolutely come back to the area just to spend more time at the property. Clear directions, great amenities, and the host was kind and responsive. Stunning views and lots more to offer. Would highly recommend this stay!

Weekend Trip to Kinner Kamping

We loved the Friends camper! Everything was well thought out! They even had the friends episodes on DVD and we watched them as we snuggled in for the night! The outside is adorable and has the cutest little lights. They have card games that are friends themed as well! Every detail was perfect for the theme! The only thing that would have made it better would have been a tiny microwave! The hosts are the absolute sweetest people and we would rent from them anytime!

7 nights at HomeGrown HideAways

We camped here for two weeks and were sad to leave. Jessa and Nathan made us feel very at home, tucked away in this precious holler. We enjoyed the silence of the night, the fog in the morning, the creek near our campsite, and the incredible hike right on property. We stayed in our 30 foot converted school bus in one of their RV back in sites. We were able to park quite easily, and there was plenty of space to maneuver the bus into the spot. The sites were level with gravel. The creek was actually quite warm to swim in. Our starlink internet worked well! Nathan and Jessa were friendly and quick to respond to any of our messages through Hipcamp. They were happy to share any cool things about the property or the town of Berea. They were respectful of our privacy and also made great company while using the kitchen in the community space. We had a fun time in the moments connecting with them over their garden and chickens. We certainly intend to be back. We really liked the community aspect of their property, encouraging people to connect. We also liked that they had their own products for sale at a reasonable price. We enjoyed everything from their eggs, asparagus, to things like apple butter and fresh garlic powder; all from their own land. We appreciated their complementary springwater. Their generosity and kind hearts truly made this beautiful holler a gem you are going to want to visit. Thank you for such a great experience. We hope to cross paths again!

Boondocks is a great spot on the river. Spacious site with water and electric. Great restaurant on the same property. Close to Louisville and a number of other distilleries. Nice and private.

Weekend Trip to Boondocks

Site 6 was incredibly beautiful and private (there are only neighbors on one side). The "campground" is very small - only 6 sites. There is unfortunatley some rubbish (rusty trailers, wood pallet stacks, old lawnmowers and other garbage) near the site... but if you just don't look that way - the gorgeous water/woods views make you forget all about that! There was a porta-potty, which was nice to have available. There is also a small bar/restaurant on site, which was surprisingly good!! One of the best burgers, my burger snob husband, has ever had. The catfish dinner was also incredible.

HomeGrown HideAways is a farm, lodging, and event facility nestled in a hundred-acre holler in the Appalachian foothills near Berea, Ky. Our lodging features treehouses, yurts, a bunkhouse, retro camper, water/electric hook-ups, and campsites. We also host weddings, retreats, and other events so advance reservations are required. For insurance purposes and the safety of our own livestock and pets, we do not allow guests to bring their pets/ESAs onto the property. Prepare to UNPLUG as we do not have cell service or wifi (there IS a landline for guests to make phone calls located in the Community Farmhouse). All guests from tent to treehouse have access to our solar-powered Community Farmhouse featuring a fully-stocked chef-inspired kitchen, restrooms, coin-op laundry, and upstairs multi-purpose room with a library and board games. There is also an outdoor kitchen area with additional cooking space including a grill, microwave, and sink (sink is closed in the winter so the pipes don’t freeze). Next to the Farmhouse is a massive pavilion with picnic tables for al fresco dining and firewood bundles to purchase. BRING CASH! Our seasonal bath house is generally open from April or May to October or November based on the prevailing temps. There are 4 flush toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 hot showers. The floors are concrete so we recommend shower shoes and you'll want to bring your own towels and shampoo/soap. The farm has a small playground, yard games, creeks, and a steep and rugged hiking trail that loops the mountain. We're also just 8 miles from the hiking trails at the Berea College Pinnacles, 8 miles to Owsley Fork Reservoir, 20 minutes to Anglin Falls, 12 miles to Berea, 35 minutes to Richmond, Ky, and a scenic hour to Red River Gorge. For other activities, restaurants, shopping, music, and more, we're happy to share our favorites, but highly recommend checking out the Berea Tourism website.

Renting the entire campground is a great way to have a party or celebration and having exclusive use of this micro-campground.
